Disagree regards Sam. Think he’s a great player.
For me though we are getting cut apart out wide far too easily. Robinson and James are poor defensively which leaves our centre backs out if position and midfielders chasing shadows trying to fill in.
Constant crosses coming in that we are just not dealing with.
Brilliant 1st 5 minutes and dreadful for the rest. Why were you changing it after 5 minutes when we were 1 up?
Poor mistakes cost us again, not sure what that has to do with team selections though seeing as they came from our number 1 and the guy everyone is saying is our best CB.

A few missing from that that you could have arguments for as well. Al Habsi, Chimbonda, Kavanagh, Kirkland, Jackson, Heskey, Cattermole, Brown, Valencia.
Also states he will be staying in football its his job wonder which club or could it be non league or a league club interesting comment

Which is interesting when he criticised agents when he took the job.
To be fair I think he was criticising how some agents go about their business, rather than criticising agents per se.
Stuart BarlowAn emotional time indeed and we all need to make sure we stand and applaud on the 23rd minute. Hopefully it doesn’t lead to a Leeds goal as usually happens when we do things like this.
Taken from the Premier League Rules:K.4. No Club shall have or enter into a ground-sharing agreement in respect of its Stadium unless the agreement contains legally enforceable provisions to the effect that:
K.4.1. the playing of the Club’s League Matches at the Stadium shall always take precedence over the activities of the other party to the agreement; and
K.4.2. the Club shall have the ability to postpone other activities scheduled to take place on the pitch in the 48 hours immediately preceding the kick-off of a League Match where, in the reasonable opinion of the Club, there is a risk that such activity might result in the subsequent postponement or abandonment of the League Match.
It looks like the Big 6 don’t have to play by these rules then, unless of course Spurs wriggled out of it due to the word “its” in K.4, as Wembley is not their stadium.
That said, there has been a knock-on effect. Fulham have now had their EFL cup game at City rescheduled for Thursday instead of Wednesday, and Southampton have had their premier league fixture shifted to Sunday due to Man City’s reserves playing Fulham on the Thursday.
The premier league is run for the benefit of 6 clubs, with the other 14 just being there in a supporting role. I’m glad not to be a part of it.
The game wasn’t actually postponed or abandoned though was it which is another technicality for Spurs to get around it, but they are already breaching Premier League rules by playing home matches at different venues so I don’t think the rules matter anymore.
With regards to our situation, K4.2 doesn’t say that Wigan can’t play before a Latics game, but that their game mustn’t have an adverse affect on the Latics game which is probably why the decisions that were made were made especially last year when Wigan postponed a game and then switched it to Widnes even though we were in the Championship at the time.
I thought at one time there was a rule which did state that nothing other than a football match could be played on PL pitch 24 hours before a match, sure there was a match we had against Man Utd and Ferguson invoked the rule which meant the Warriors had to move a game.Personally think it’s a disgrace that Wembley is used for NFL and even worse that it’s been used for club friendlies and league matches…although I don’t blame Spurs for taking up Wembley, just should never have been offered to them. Particularly when the FA now make the FA Vase and FA Trophy finals take place on the same day, instead of having them on separate days, wrong when you think that to the fans of those clubs, that’s such a special occasion.
Nope. Never existed. Strangely, the issue with fixtures coincided with DW selling the club.
Funny things these because they can tend to be based on opinions and they vary so much.
There are two other factors to consider ie era and levels.
Fitness and speed are probably at their highest levels they ever have been too.
Team formations too can play a part.
Personal favourites can also play a part.
Bobby Todd, John King, Carl Bradshaw, Darren Sheridan, Michael Brown, Lee Cattermole for eg all awesome players in their day but compare to now and we don’t find many midfielders who play their kind of game.
Same can be said for defenders and strikers.
Interesting subject though.
Mario Melchiot would be one for me who shines above many a player. He oozed class.Agree on Mario Melchiot. That squad that we had in that era was superb and really should have kicked on but we (rightly) opted to put the club on a strong financial footing as opposed to doing a Bolton.
Cheers egg lad for clearing that up for me.No worries. There was a game moved in July once as well because the pitch had been dug up the week before.
There is no reason why the naming rights would change (perhaps part of the deal) and of course DW are our shirt sponsors, but if it does then I would expect either IEC or one of their businesses to be the favourite otherwise we could be sold to the highest bidder which leaves us open to names such as The Totally Wicked Stadium
Has never existed. The ruling is that any PL game must take precedence over any other event on the same day, so basically had Sky decided that Spurs v City would be the Sunday then the NFL would have had to move but in most cases these things are booked months in advance so it doesn’t happen.
The issue we had was that the media had criticised us time and time again for our pitch so DW wanted to protect that as best he could and it wasn’t believed that the stadium could be turned around in time which actually translated into DW not wanting to pay the staff overtime to do it overnight.
EDIT – We have of course both played on the same day since we were relegated but there is less hospitality, media spotlight etc etc in the Championship than there is the PL.
The game moving to Widnes was because Sky had said that Wigan HAD to play Friday when there was a game scheduled for the Sunday night as well that they could easily have filled and played at home.
