We would need to get to the 3rd round for that to happen and Utd away in the League Cup is not as ‘plum’ a tie as Utd in the FA Cup is although the FA are doing their best to stop that happening as well.

No it doesn’t, but obviously Cookie would rather play his best XI in league games.
Second choice players got a competitive run out last night as well which will benefit them.
Which would lead to the same people complaining that he didn’t make changes for a competition that is third on our list of priorities.
I agree with the “win every game” comments because I hate losing, but financially we could win both cups and end up with less money than we would if we stayed in the Championship.
Fans have to understand that it’s a business now led by Sky and the money they plough into the PL and that what we as fans want (cup runs etc) doesn’t matter. In essence the Sky money and the media that treat anything outside the top flight with contempt have ruined the game.
Football is a business nowadays and the cups don’t give the rewards to the owners that the league does. We got more money for being relegated from the PL than we did for winning the cup.
League football has and always will be the priority and when you have the powers that be belittling the competition with experimental rule changes then what do you expect the clubs to do?
As I said, if we played a full strength side and subsequently lost on Saturday there would be plenty of fans moaning that he didn’t make changes last night.
Cookie clearly has prioritised the league and FA Cup ahead of this just as he did last season with this competition and the Checkatrade and I back his decision on that just as I did last year.
He clearly has done rightly or wrongly. I doubt we will see so many changes when FA Cup 3rd round day rolls around.
Doesn’t happen anymore Donny. Far too much money in the league now that the cups are dead.
I hate losing myself but given the choice of tonight or Saturday, I know which I would choose. Had it been The FA Cup then it may have been different.
One of those situations tonight. Play a reserve side and lose and he should have played a full side.
Plau a full side and lose Saturday and he should have played the reserves tonight.
I think its more that he chases back 60 yards, wins the tackle, comes forward and then plays an inch perfect pass
Would be surprised if their debt is less than ours though
Things looking good for the Horwich lads now
The way we are looking to play we could see plenty of scores like this. Cookie himself has said we know that this style will lead to us being punished at the other end.
A set peice and a corner have nothing to do with how we play just poor keeping[/quote]
Never said they did, just that there will be plenty of scores like this as the season goes on.

2 games in and 5 goals conceded! Needs addressing and quickly! To be expected with a brand new back 4 who have been at the club a week. It will tighten up.
Hard to take had we drawn really having fought back and then conceded an OG but as people have said, pushing Villa all the way is a positive and we can take great confidence from it depsite the result.
I read that as welll.
I would imagine he is going to play the lone striker role but whether that puts him ahead of Grigg or not I don’t know.
