Top bloke Ian. Fully deserved his award.
Why would we not have a club?
My worry egg, is if the new owner becomes bored or we as a club fail to meet his ambitions. He pulls out & leaves us in a lot of financial poop that we cant afford to repay. Thus the closure of WAFC & hence, no football club.
Like Bolton, Leeds, Portsmouth, Sheff Weds etc etc etc?
Why would we not have a club?
Good plan. Donny, dont play 442 mate. It doesnt work in rugby either.
Its not even a home game. Its an exhibition. I called wigan on it once on facebook when they were bleating about attendances and they deleted the post.
You could argue there are 30k on for wigan as most stay for the last game but it cant be counted as a home game.
Todays game was actually part of season tickets but everyone had to pay again who went. We were charged for 14 home games but may only play 13 if we finish 5th-8th. Usually they charge for 14 and you get the possibility of one free but this year you could lose one. Madness.
Every player should take a yellow and take someone out
Most aussies would name wigan first if you asked them to name british clubs. They dont think anything of our comp though and see it as footballs version of league 2. How many football fans would turn out in say america to watch lincoln v luton?
I do agree on promoting it though. Stick to the places that play it and like it and develop them first.
Unless he is the worlds dumbest businessman he will want to make money not see a 20m investment go to shit
Thing is mutty……we’re the biggest name in the sport whether people like it or not
I doubt we will be a play thing. We are a club with PL facilities playing in League 1. 20m is a steal and effectively he has around 80m to spend to get us to the Prem and he won’t have lost a penny.
As a club we have no assets at all legally so what is he going to strip us of? If he sells the stadium then so what? We dont own it anyway (legally that is).
He won’t get a club with our facilities and potential for anywhere near 20m.
We could be the next City and Robin Park could become a hub of all things WAFC.
Of course it could go Pete Tong but Im not going to castrate the guy yet.
Oh, and if he puts a bloke in charge who knows the business and he just writes the cheques then so what?
Hopefully the wurriors are looking for a new home in Australia after all it is the home of rugby league better than here just a 2 county minority sport more watch tiddly winks championships than rugby league
It’s only played in 2 states in Australia too
Yet the champions don’t come from either state.
Pointless exercise but they will say that 9k of that crowd didnt come from the uk and we have got 2 main sponsors from it so maybe it was worthwhile.
Not a fan of taking any home game away from wigan though.
So he’s a poker player. So what? He is also a very successful businessman. Dave Whelan is a tory and enjoys shooting pheasants.
He may not be the guy in charge day to day. He may just be the money man like Mansour at city.
There are possible positives and possible negatives to this but in no way will we cease to exist in 5 years.
19366 and plenty media comments about a poor crowd
Quite like the leisure stuff myself
My great concern is this.
Say it all goes a bit ‘Hong Kong’ and he ends up leaving us in the deep doodah, and in danger.
Anybody who isn’t worried… You should be.
I share the same concerns as yourself on this one vat. And i’m not buying into this belief that if it all goes hong kong, then WAFC will become a supporters run club.
I hope i’m wrong, but i too am worried.
I’m surprised that no one has mentioned anything about the new owners coming in & changing the colours of our shirts or nicknames a la victor tan.
Red and white hoops?
