Could you explain to me how it’s working? I’m looking at first team sheet this season and can’t see a single name on it who is homegrown? Any crackers come through in last 5 years?
Our 18s, 21s, reserves whatever they are have won several trophies in recent years and have done well in the youth cup.
Our cup sides this season have given debuts to plenty of youngsters such as Lang, Barrigan, Stubbs, Maffeo which will continue in the FLT.
It will be a slow process and I don’t expect a ‘class of 92’ scenario but I am happy to see our youngsters winning trophies and breaking through.
Still can’t see anyone in the Championship taking a punt on him after he has failed a good few times in that league.
I would love to see more Wigan born players gracing the leagues and pulling on the shirt, but the program we have is clearly working when you look at the under 18s etc
I want us to win at every level personally. I would want a Wigan under 6s tiddlywinks side to win every game they play.

I don’t remember that. I remember one in 1988 at Springfield Park. That was a good one. Had my pic took with Ray Mathias etc…was in Observer. Today my lads were in a group photo. 29 years later.

The signing doesn’t fill me with too much enthusiasm if I am honest, but every squad of players needs hardened professionals like Roberts, Hunt and Perkins. They will pass on their experience to the younger players and to keep the heads of up and coming stars like Powell, Morsy, Burn and Grigg out of the clouds.
The knowledge and experience they have of the game will hopefully rub off on all the other players and their advice could be invaluable in the retention of these players.Exactly
