but charitable donations, appearances and endorsements do wonders for careers and upward mobility.
Agreed. You only have to look at things like remembrance day, wear a daffodil in March, breast cancer awareness etc etc.
Celebs jump all over these and are never seen without the respective badge/ribbon. Would be career suicide if they said “I’m not wearing that because…..”
It was last night and I backed Sampdoria to win as the 7/2 on offer seemed very generous for a game where Lazio were third and Sampdoria fifth and on level points and some decent form behind them. At half time Lazio had had twelve shots on goal, Sampdoria none! Sampdoria ended up having two shots on goal all game, Lazio twenty one. There was something weird going on there! Are you trying to imply that Italian football is rigged?
NEVER!!!
We could do with someone in that mould though. He was putting himself about, terrorising Skrtel, winning headers, winning tackles. Nothing fancy just an out and out centre forward.
TBH I think that is what Mackay is trying to get out of McClean.
McClean is not a centre forward, never will be!
He’s not no, but until we can bring someone in he is the closest thing we have to a sh*thouse is the idea. Or so I can gather.

A book written by you and signed by Gary Caldwell. They must fly off the shelves.
Mike Phelan in charge
James McArthur was the key when he left and we spent the 7 million on lads who aren’t playingWell, who would you play?
Should be interesting to see how he gets on in the states.
He’ll look like a world beater over there, it’s a bobbins league. Even Horc could manage a team over there ;)
Malky Mackay couldn’t
I personally preferred the football under MartinezYou mean the boring tippy-tappy nonsense? You should read the bottom four Bob thread.
Is the same Steve Bruce who wanted to build for the future by shutting down our academy?
I’ve had a scout round the other latics forums tonight just to see others thoughts and where my views stood in the bigger picture of things.Interesting. Not far from a Malky out campaign in the offing. This place is actually the exception to what I’m reading elsewhere, not that that’s a bad thing.
Nobody has yet answered the question from the happy clappers as to why you think it’s a good idea to let this Malky bloke have a clear out and bring in his own players when in reality he could be gone in the not too distant.
Dave Whelan as Chairman/owner/saviour/profiteer of this club has chosen Malky Mackay as his Manager and the man tasked with saving our season.
Now I, like you and everyone else was hoping the corner would have been turned by now but it’s obvious we have bigger problems than who our Manager is and whether he’s a racist or not.
The only performance so far that I’ve seen from us under Mackay in which we’ve given 110% is Leeds. Coincidence that the players paid for that game? Maybe. Maybe not.
Either way, there are several players not good/committed enough to play for this club and as Manager Malky has the right to manage the clear out that could save our season. If the FA step in at some point then so be it, but if he’s turned our season around I wouldn’t expect him to be sacked.
Changes of Manager will only work if the players buy into his philosophies. Some of them haven’t. Most teams see players start to work their socks off in a bid to impress the new guy and get in the side. Ours haven’t done that and are just as lazy as they were under Rosler. You can sack Manager after Manager but if you still have the same set of un-interested. not arsed players then you’ll still struggle.
What i coudnt get over if Maloney is going?why play Him. Give some of the younger players a chance.Nowt to lose they might even show more hunger for the game.
That’s a good question. I’m guessing maybe he thinks he can give us that piece of brilliance and it’s worth it. Personally I agree with you, he wouldn’t get in the side.

Well said big Roy
Wait till malky has a chance to bring in/ work with his own players
He inherited a squad , some of which either don’t want to or shouldn’t be here for various reasons
Let him shape his own squad, it’s way too early to judge the man
As wigan fans, we have seen a phenomenal rise and the dream is not over, we’re just having a temporary nightmare
Keep the faith, new year, new start
This window will be very interestingCorrect nipple. People are blaming Malky and were blaming Rosler. The common factor is the players. Some of them need to realise they are at Wigan for a reason (in other words they aren’t as good as they think) and start playing football. Hopefully Malky can bring some hungry lads in but I think as usual we need to sell first.
I also think the backroom staff should go. They’re the common factor in the last 4 managers. Different Managers yet similar tactics such as 11 men in the box to defend a corner yet only 8 at an attacking corner. Its just asking to be put under pressure.
Not everything in the Wigan Athletic garden is green, but the field is far from wasteland just yet.
