BK let it out the bag that Martinez had met him to discuss taking over from Moyes, immediately after the cup final.
Where did he say that? I recall him saying he had told him his tactics but I don’t recall him saying when.I could be wrong.
Also, if he had met BK then he would have done so with the allowance of DW and thus didn’t really do too much wrong.
Yes you are wrong!
Ah. Yes.
Thanks for that quote from Bill Kenwright there that proves your point.

Bournemouth away
Maribor awayMust admit you should start building from the back then you are guaranteed 1 of 2 results a draw or a win earlier in the season people said we were strong at the back , they must be watching a different game than me as i thought we have been poor in that position all season , I`ve every confidence we`ll get it sorted as in this league at the moment everyone is beating each other , top six on the cards for me but we need to turn it around and soon .IN UWE WE TRUST (wers me wine gone) :)
I would have agreed with you a few weeks ago, but it’s taking a bit too long to turn around for my liking. It will take some run now to get top 6. Not saying it won’t happen, but it looks a long way off right now.
Agree, and I think the next 5-8 games will determine the end of season outcome.
It will probably sort out the manager question as well maybe after tonight
I said earlier in the week that a defeat tonight, given the opposition, and particularly if we get a performance like the 0-3 against Derby that did for Coyle, might do the same for Uwe.
I’ll take the Derby performance minus the brainfarts.
Their keeper got motm I think.
I’ll give you number 3, but number 4????
What you been smoking ;)
I suggest a hasty edit to ” Not many ex Wigan Athletic players can claim to have gone on to play in a Champions League final”
Well, a few things spring to mind:-
1) 5 is not many
2) None of those played in Champions League final. They played in European Cup finals.
3) None of then “have gone on” to play in either guise of that competition; they played in it before they played for Wigan, whereas Valencia played for Wigan first. Which was my point.
So, I’ll be editing nothing, hastily or otherwise :)
Typical Griff. Can’t admit when he’s wrong. This isn’t your own personal playground you know.
There be one in Scotland that sounds like two hat
There’s two I think on seperate Highland Islands. Is that right or is it seperate Highlands?
Ah, who gives a feck.
There is also Cockermouth which makes me chuckle and Kilcoch in Ireland which also gets a childish giggle from me. There’s quite a few in Ireland actually.
Ahh name calling the last bastion of a poster who has lost the argument ahh well
How have I lost the argument? In fact there is no argument just you being a tit! Read the post properly! Egg, pedantry is not a good trait! When Preston play Blackpool, Forest play Derby, Utd play City etc etc, the word derby will no doubt appear in papers or be uttered on tv and radio! Tonight is a local derby like it or not but it is known as such!
It will yes and tonight is known as a derby. Doesn’t make it one though ;)
Just having a bit of light-hearted fun pal.
Either 2-1 Wigan or 3-0 Bowtun. I think if we lose we’ll get hammered.
I’m going with 1.3 from the Oxford dictionary and probably about 99% of football fans up and down the country! As for the tit who changes his name annually, there is only one stupid fucker here and that is you!And all 99% would be wrong ;)
I’ll be there.
BTW – there are only TWO actual derbies in Sport.
I’d disagree and say it’s three:
The Epsom Derby (The Derby Stakes)
Kentucky Derby
Derby County
A derby is a derby when it is deemed such by the Earl of Derby. Only two events have ever received such recognition. The derby that you refer too at Epsom and Wigan v St Helens.
The current Earl of Derby has confirmed that his family gave their name to only two sporting events; The Horse Race and the Rugby League match between St. Helens and local rivals Wigan.
well you learn some thing new every day the good Earl was obviously having an heavy day on the opium when he came up with that
I think the current Earl is on the board at Saints (or was) and whoever was Earl in 1989 was at Wembley for the cup final and was presented to the players pre-match before handing the cup over at the end.
Clare Balding referenced it in 2012 before our cup game on the beeb.
I’ll be there.

Several ex-Wigan players have played in European Cup Finals mate. In fact several have won it, granted before they came to Wigan.
Archie Gemmill
Alan Kennedy
Larry LloydAnd a rather cheeky one….
…Bobby Charlton
I believe there have been 5 but I can only ever find 4.
I’ll be there.

My thoughts. We need really to turn that 7 game unbeaten run we had into a winning run.
A point here and a point there won’t do any favours whatsoever.
On paper I would say we are better than this. As I’ve said a few times and on the homepage, we change the team too many times to create any form of continuity.
