Do relegated clubs get an exemption? Dropping your salary to 2.5m is going to take some doing.
All it’s done in rugby is drag the big clubs down to the level of the shit clubs
Two totally different cases.
The issues with ours are:
A – The owner cited covid as the reason which is surely force majeure.
B – If they deem it not to be then seeing as he buggered off after 3 weeks, how was he fit and proper and why should we pay for the EFLs cock upAs long as the PL elite are all ok (all with more debts than we had)
My ‘Lets hang on’ T shirt arrived today, well chuffed with it, cheers to everyone at the SC. If you haven’t got yourself one yet, get your hand in your pocket your club needs you!!!!
Got mine yesterday and will be donating again tomorrow WE CANNOT LET THIS CLUB DIE
Glad you like them
How old is your oldest Latics T shirt?
I have the 91 red away shirt. Currently my oldest “to date”
Ad long as he doesn’t adopt the Martinez style of play in League One with sh1t pitches and sh1t ref’s he’d do for me.
But do you not think were jumping the gun here ?, shouldn’t new owners come first?. I’ve a feeling National League football might put him clean off coming with it’s 30 bob wages and Peter Kay “Have it !!!!” style footballBoth Caldwell and Cook played a similar style to Martinez and romped the division
No doubt any club now gets the force majeure ruling going forward.
I’m sure Gelhardt would have noticed if there hadn’t been an increase in his pay packet these last few months.
Correct. One thing this administration has shown to me is that the press basically work on the “if you throw enough shit some sticks” method. Their sources are usually nothing more than guesswork and things they read on Twitter.
With a transfer embargo on top of everything we’ll be waiting a while before we’re in a position to mount any promotion challenge unfortunately. No matter what division we are in.
We only get the embargo if we don’t pay our creditors when we exit administration
You’d be watching rugby only if he buys it. He wants the ground not the club, we’d be with Bury
In which case if Koukash buys it (a St Helens fan), he should put the Cuckoo’s rent up as his first job.
I’m with Bullit; Lenagan doesn’t appeal to me at all, and I might just vote with my feet because I cannot see anything in it other than Lenagan’s self interest. I remain to be convinced !I’m more concerned about Koukash sticking to the FFP rules and not spitting his dummy out when he can’t buy success as he did at Salford
I’m so sick. Done with football, have been for a while really apart from Latics. I hate the corruption and injustice, and all the top clubs, and most of the non top clubs.
Of course next game we have I’ll be back at it kicking every ball and trying to plot how we’re gonna come back and kick everybody’s ass!
F@c£ the eflMy feelings exactly Edwards. I stopped watching the restart after the cringeworthy crap they were coming out with such as zoom calls of fans watching on TV and fake noises. It was all catered for the full kit wearing TV fans and I would imagine most match going fans saw it for the farce that it was.
Once our administration kicked in though it meant something and I pretty much kicked every ball we kicked for the rest of the season. My heart rate (sat down on the couch) during that Fulham game was 120bpm at its lowest. I think I would have probably keeled over if we had nicked it late on.
I never once thought we would win this appeal and the cynic in me looks at some of the decisions in those last two games when survival was in our hands and wonders just “if” because I have never trusted the powers that be because as a club we just don’t fit into their narrative. Northern, small, no fans, weren’t in the top flight in 1980.
If the worst does happen and we are unable to find a buyer then that will probably be me done with the sport until we find a phoenix club.
I’m afraid this could be the final nail in the coffin for Wigan Athletic.
We need to find a new owner yesterday with mega deep bottomless pockets. We have no money, no crowd, no match day money, no manager, playerss leaving daily, TV funding slashed, players fire saled and clauses to allow them to leave cheap or free. Players been sold for nothing.
A new owner? Jesus !! , as a business you would have to have your head seeing to to take us on. I fear for our future truly fear. We need someone in asap or we will for sure be the new BuryWhilst our income has been massively slashed, so will our outgoings (I’m presuming that players have relegation salary cuts) both on and off the field. There isn’t anywhere close to the same amount of staff needed to run a L1 club and whilst there are no fans at games there is hardly a need for any staff.
Wages will be much lower for the players and I doubt we will see any big names come in. We may still see a few players leave though which will up the income and some of the young lads that get their chance may put themselves in the window enough for a mid-season move.
The big question will be whether the new owners can find enough money to build a squad that is capable of getting out of L1 in a year or two where they can start to make money from their investment.
All ifs and buts of course but so is any business. If you’re buying a football club then you already know you won’t be making too much money off the back of it.
But if that’s what the owner told us then the panel have to prove that’s wrong
The sale of the club started pre-covid and continued throughout covid. Shouldn’t have taken them too long to prove that.
We were never going to win with a defence of “covid did it”. It was blatantly obvious that it had nothing to do with covid. Dave Phillips has had our pants down there.
Forget the media. I’d be calling everyone rent boys and telling them to get out of our ground.
Pretty much what I do now at the rugby, but ay the football.
