Think they’ll beat West Brom unfortunately.
Very good points. I think his chance was when McLaren left and he blew that with the whole tax dodging scandal that started the trial he recently underwent.
The other night I was invited out for a night with the lads. I told my wife that I would be home by midnight, “I promise!” Well, the hours passed and the amber nectar went down way too easily.
Around 3 a.m., a bit pi$$ed, I headed for home. Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hallway started up and cuckooed three times. Quickly, realizing my wife would probably wake up, I cuckooed another nine times.
I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution, in order to escape a possible conflict with her. (Even when totally smashed… three cuckoos plus nine cuckoos totals twelve cuckoos MIDNIGHT!)
The next morning my wife asked me what time I got in. I told her ‘MIDNIGHT’. She didn’t seem annoyed in the least.
Whew, I got away with that one! Then she said, “We need a new cuckoo clock.”
When I asked her why, she said, “Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said ‘oh sh*t.’ Cuckooed four more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another three times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the coffee table and farted.”
I’m quite happy with that as I didn’t want ‘Arry. He’s on TV enough as it is. If we want an English Manager then there aren’t that many around. Certainly not many who have managed at that level before. Hodgson has managed 3 pretty poor sides and got a half decent record so deserves his shot.
Things weren’t brilliant at Liverpool for him but he had a better win ratio than King Kenny but his face just didn’t fit.
I’m hoping the Wolves game doesn’t matter or I have a serious dilemma on my hands.
You think Ireland will get out of a group that includes Spain and Italy? I’ll have one of what you’re on. They’ll be home quicker than the Scots from the World Cup.
Some of big Nialls’ comments were laughable. I thought Gary Neville handled himself well unfortunately.
I was in Berkrley Square and the “home” atmosphere was a joke. Fuck em.
Bobby has made alot of mistakes during his time at Latics – from some of his signings, to some of his tactics, to some of his team selections, to some of his substitutions (& the timing of them), playing players out of position, imposing a system on players who didn;t have teh skill set for it. No problem there as such as everybody makes mistakes
I for one have stated from a relatively early stage (I think the Spurs defeat) that I didn’t think he was up to the job & that he seemed unable to learn from his mistakes & that the same ones seemed to be made over & over & over again – I once likened him to that Homer Simpson sketch you can see on Channel 4 where he keeps trying to grab the 4 pack of beer that is on the leccy cables.
Last season he seemed to be starting to go down the right track only for N’Zogbia to go & this season seem to be a step backwardsI did however also say that I would like nothing more than for Bobby to prove me wrong and whilst there are still 2 games of this season to go & the start of next season to come, he seems to be doing exactly that.
Bobby has to take great credit for switching to the 3 at the back system because it suits those players down to the ground – Figueroa looks reborn, Alacaraz finally looks like he knows what he gets paid for doing & Caldwell to be frank looks like a different player. He also then realised an essential part of the new system was an out & out left wing back & he got one
After losing Diame to the ACN & struggling in January he gave McArthur a chance as a sub & had the nouse to notice the improvement he could bring & the guts to keep him in the side. Likewise Maloney got his chance away at Norwich & Bobby was able to see the extra “oomph” this gave the team going forward & dropped Gomez.
Unlike last season where there was not noticeable change other than the players form improving this season has turned around in 3 stages where I think, as manager, Bobby must take complete & total credit for.
I don’t believe that this was what Bobby was always looking towards in terms of the system otherwise it could & would have been introduced long before but I think Bobby & his team (who also took alot of stick off many) realised in the Autumn that what they had been trying wasn’t working & had the nouse to devise one that would suit the squadFull marks to em coz I’ve never seen a Latics side (in any division) to look as tactically astute (when they need to attack they attack as a team, when they need to defend they defend as a team) as this one does now – long may it continue
Totally agree. We were lifeless for long parts of this season just as Blackburn were yesterday. My opinion was that that was down to Bob and it still is my opinion. He has however turned it round as a Wigan Athletic fan I couldn’t be happier.
He, and the players, have shown how good they can be and I hope that that can continue for a full season because the great escape won’t work every season.
Looking forward to seeing him squirm through Monday night tbh
Don’t say a single word. Just go about your business like any normal day. That’ll piss them off even more.
Oh sweet Jesus!Just landed in Minneapolis and couldn’t resist turning on my phone.
About a dozen texts from my sister and others.
It was like watching the game on Teletext.
1-0 Moses

Right, best get off this plane and find a tv set.
I was in Australia when we beat Crewe 1-0 at their gaff to all but seal promotion from Div2 (the one when McCulloch was nearly decapitated) and I had a similar thing with a dozen texts coming through with things like:
They should be a man down blah blah
Sodje finally off
Duke misses sitter
1-0 Duke
Won 1-0Got a few strange looks when I shouted ‘GET IN THERE’ when the last txt came through.
Finished 1st in Northern Premier LeagueGlory hunter
4th Old Division 3 1985-86 Season. We missed out on promotion by just a single point (although our goal difference was worse than that of Derby).
Reading won the league as champions – they seem to like doing that. The second spot went to Plymouth.
Relegated that season were Lincoln City, the two Welsh clubs and poor old Wolves.
The games either side of my birthday are a 3-1 away win away to Brentford, and a 5-0 thrashing of Swansea at Springfield Park. Cue some of my elders to step to the floor to tell me how they remember it like it were yesterday
This would have to be mine as well seeing as I was born in the off season.
If Bobby does go then we’ll bring Guardiola in and he can carry on the legacy ;)
EDIT – They’ve just said on SSN that when he left Barca as a player, Paul Jewell contacted him about coming to Wigan.
Probably knowing you
