This club is a joke.

This club hasn’t even done anything yet regarding Rodallega/Beattie – its newspaper gossip put out by Stoke
How on earth therefore can the situatuion or the club be described as a joke & why are you getting so worked up about something that hasn’t happened?

I thought he did great for us, we’re not exactly overburdened with centre halves now are we?

Not that I’m chuffed Bramble is going but we have Gohouri, Alcaraz (if the work permit comes through), Boyce, Caldwell & Amaya and I think 5 is more than enough to have on your books, 4 would probably do. 6 is too many when you have to operate with a small squad

Have a look at the youtube clip of the work that is posted further up in the thread.
That’s a substantial amount of steelwork that has had to be ordered & erected. Its also a significantly different structure from the stand that was there previously (in terms of how its built & how many it holds) & so they will have needed different/new planning permission & will need new fire & safety certificates issuing before anyone can use it.
Apparently they’ve also had to put a load of new media facilities & stuff in so its a hefty amount of work with all manner of lead in times. By all accounts now that everythign is in place they have used a firm who have promised to have it finished off in 4 weeks
So as I said previously there isn’t much more they could have done

That said, if the premier league has conditions to membership such as media facilities & stand accomodation (which it does) & Blackpool didn’t have those facilities (which they didn’t) a condition of their membership should have been that they would be in place for the start of the season & if they couldn’t guarantee that then they couldn’t be promoted
As it is from reading an article in one of the papers before their play off final if they have missed any deadlines set by the premier league then they will have TV rights money withheld

Lee Trundle signed for Neath last week so that’s another transfer target missed out on

Just what the feck are Whelan & Martinez playing at?????? :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

Personally I don’t want a Stoke reserve player signing for Latics. That said, regardless of who he plays for currently, I don’t rate him either

Besides – Haven’t Latics put a £15mill price tag on his head anyway? If they have, that rates Beattie at £8mill??????????????

“Blackpool have had since MAY to get things sorted. The last picture I saw, dated July 9th, showed that they didn’t even have any foundations in place for a new stand, temporary, or permanent. All they had done is clear the temporary stand that they had there, and it was just a strip of soil. I mean, come on, if you’re in the Premiership, you have to shape yourself. And it’s not like builders are inundated with work, is it? By July 9th, they should of been close to completion, never mind not even started.”

You can’t just “build a stand” – There’s all sorts of processes you have to go through. Getting it priced up, putting it out to tender, giving the tenderers a time period to put their prices forward, planning permission, the successful tenderer sourcing the labour. They couldn’t have just woken up the day after the play off final & said “reet lets start that stand tomorrow”
For once I know what I’m talking about as its what I’ve been involved with in schools for the last 8 years – even if, as is likely, they already had planning permission as part of the original ground redevelopment proposals & their tender process isn’t as rigorous as those in local authorities, even they could have awarded the tender the day after the play off final, the turnaround for ordering the steel alone needed for that stand is a minimum of about 6 weeks which brings you to about the 5th July (if ordered on the Monday after the play off final) for it to arrive on site & start being erected. So given they’ve probably had 2 & a half weeks to start putting the stand up they aint doing too bad
There aint much more they could have done or be doing – the only alternative would have been to keep the temporary stand
A club of Blackpool’s financial means couldn’t have risked ordering all the things needed for that stand prior to them winning the play off’s as the financial risk would have been too great

No Tyldsley, it is. You all have eyes and you all have ears. So why do you not take in what Martinez says, absorb it, and see it for what it is?

Are our fans in ‘denial’? or is it to do with it being ‘prodigal son Martinez’?
Think what you want, but you know the bloke is planning to get rid of one or two experienced professionals, and, if he can get away with it, replace them with youngsters, rather than quality bought signings.

He has said that. It is Fact. And you are HAPPY with that? Really? You’ve said yourself in a PM, that the guy is out of his depth and not good enough to be our manager. And wouldn’t be if it was your choice.

I’m actually that narked about it, I’m wishing I hadn’t renewed. Seriously. So you can tell how annoyed I am about it. I almost feel ‘cheated’.

VAT you asked why you aren’t allowed to express your opinion. I merely stated that you are & that people who disagree with you aren’t trying to stop you expressing your opinion – they’re just expressing their own. If you can’t stand people disagreeing with you without then assuming that they’re trying to stop you having an opinion then maybe you shouldn’t post on a public messageboard

Everyone on here knows how I feel about Bobby. I don’t trust his signings till I’ve seen em myself & I don’t think he has the ability to be a premier league manager & yes if I’d been in charge I would have got rid of him at the end of last season
BUT
he is the manager & I won’t slate or praise any of his decisions till he’s made them & I’ve seen them, or the effeccts of them, myself

There are also a good load of people on here who believe, unlike me, that he is good enough & trust his judgement. I can’t understand why but they’re on here.
Therefore if Bobby says he wants to give some of the youngsters a go then they trust his judgement

Am I happy with his comments? No – on quite a few levels, but let him make those decisions & criticise or praise him afterwards

People are allowed to have different (or the same) opinions to you or anybody else on here

So why am I NOT allowed to have an opinion, then?

It’s all shyte anyway.

Mugs. Premiership shyte.
You are – you’ve been expressing it all day and you express it regularly throughout the close season & the season itself.
If people agree with you they say so. If they don’t agree with you they say so as well
You seem to think that people disagreeing with you & explaining why they disagree with you is their attempt to stop you having and expressing your opinion.
It isn’t

Have to say I’m with Griff on this one

Latics have a transfer & wage budget that they need to stick to. Penny pinching or not, that is the reality of the situation and you can’t spend money that you haven’t got

I’d love some multi-billionaire sheikh to pump his money in like at City but that isn’t gonna happen. And at the same time you can’t keep telling Dave Whelan to put his hand in his pocket & spend his own money to satisfy your ambitions

That’s not to say I am happy with Bramble going or entirely happy with Martinez saying that we only need 3 more players in & that there’s no rush to bring em in anyway. Nor do i think this season will be anything less than a struggle & a relegation scrap with some more heavy tonkings along the way – I’d imagine most people on here whether they agree with what you’re saying now VAT on not can see that too so it isn’t about being able to see the wood for the trees
As Griff says, if Whelan was to “step aside” which billionaire with bottomless pockets would you suggest he steps aside for?

You could also look at it in terms of that Bobby thinks that some of these youngsters are good enough & ready enough to take a punt on & he’s giving them pre-season to prove that to him

I have no doubt that 3 faces will arrive before transfer deadline day & in all likelihood before the season starts (1 is strongly rumoured to be signing tomorrow which immediately is at odds with what he says in that interview). Even if they don’t Bobby could put out a side on august 14th which IMO could do a job (Kirkland, Boyce, Alcaraz, Gohouri, Figueroa, Diame, McCarthy, Watson, Rodallega, N’Zogbia & Boselli) & still have more than enough subs (Al-Habsi, Thomas, Gomez, Scotland, Moses, McArthur, Amaya + the youngsters)

Whilst I don’t particularly have a great deal of confidence in Bobby’s abilities you have to put some sort of faith in a manager in relation to his signings & trying out of young players. His judgement is either good enough or it isn’t.
If the likes of Rodallega, N’Zogbia and/or Figueroa are sold then i think we can take it as red that needing “3 more players” would change instantly

Anyway, its too bright out here – I’m going back to the darkside. In my opinion I think 3 more players is too low a figure & should be nearer 5 (right back, left back, right winger, left winger & a centre forward) as this would give us the 2 players challenging for every position. If Bobby thinks some of his younger lads can fill these positions then let him be proved wrong or right over the coming weeks

Yes it was but that’s got nowt to do with VAT’s original post saying Bobby needs to break free of Whelan in order to be successful

in reply to: Three More Should Do It ! #40639

care to elaborate for those of us whose work PC’s won’t allow access to betting websites?

Well…..Some of you like big Dave whilst others side with Bob, but which is the best………Theres only one way to find out……FIGHT !

Whelan would kick his @r$e – I remember how Bobby used to fall down at the slightest breeze when he played for us!!!!!!
