Absolutely.

I rate Ramis as our best centre half – and although he’s not the quickest, his positional play is usually good.

What I would expect in that situation however, is for one of the other players to be aware of Ramis’ error and either scream at him to get back or try and cover themselves – and it looked like neither was done.

You can’t tell where Boyce is from that photo but I’d hazard a guess that he’s got his own man to mark without having to leave him to cover up Ramis’s cock up.
If he hasn’t then a covering player did not have time to track into Ramis’s position & once he’d gone he then wouldn’t have had any chance to get back before the ball got played through to May.
It was schoolboy error stuff from Ramis & bearing in mind he got hauled off at half-time not something that seems to have impressed his new boss

Or Taylor playing him on side as well

Taylor is a yard or two behind everyone else but I think Barnett (& possibly Ramis) is playing him onside anyway

Here’s why we lost at the weekend.

Ball-watching epitomised in a photo.

That’s what I thought when I saw the goal on the telly yesterday. To be fair though, I would expect Barnett & Watson to be doing what they’re doing – its Ramis who inexplicably decides to leave the man he’s marking in order to join in who the fault for the goal truly lies with

”abusive and/or insulting and/or constitute improper conduct and/or bring the game into disrepute”

Am I right in thinking that no racist charges have been dished out ?

the charge also states that it is an “aggravated breach” as it included a reference to ethnic origin and/or race and/or nationality and/or belief

I don’t know whether that constitutes a charge of racism or not

Can you shed any light on the Beautyman booking? The ref was incompetent! The corner flag one didn’t even get a free kick!! And what was the perpetrator saying to the prone Beautyman as he walked by him? The No.5 showed all the qualities of a thug to me !

I hadn’t realised that the corner flag challenge was the one referred to that didn’t even warrant a free kick!!
To be fair to the ref on that one, its a bit different at that level but I would be looking to the assistant to lead on that one (I think he’s just out of camera shot but it’s right in front of him) as the contact & ball is on his side of the players & he should have a better view. I’d look at the assistant coz it looked like a foul from my viewpoint but if he didn’t flag (like the other one flagged for the earlier incident when he got cleaned out) than I wouldn’t give it – that said, from ref’s I’ve done games for who do football league lines they say that the higher up you go the less the ref wants you to get involved in anything other than offsides & whether the ball’s gone out of play.
As for what the player said I don’t know, but I can imagine!!

As for what Beautyman got cautioned for. I initially thought that it was for dissent coz of the way he reacts when the ref blows for the free kick but if you look at the ref before he shows the yellow, he points to his ears to tell him to listen & then he points to a few areas of the pitch so it looks to me as if he was cautioned for persistent fouling rather than for that particular foul (although it looked as if they both had hold of each others shirt in that instance).

The #5 should have gone for the first challenge for me & the step back on to him was a snidey trick but of the 3 clips involving him, he was fouled against in one of them and in the build up to the stamp, Beautyman has 2 swings back at him with his left arm which if spotted by the ref would have prevented the further incident (for which there’s no excuse)

This game will take some beating though!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5jVMSlpZhg

Some quality football there.
To be fair to the Italians, the first guy reacted to a kick & then possibly being stepped on by the Chile player who then has a delayed fall to the ground along with some other Chile player who barely seems to get any touch at all. The second player reacted to a sneaky kick from the Chile player by kicking out himself & was sent off.
In the 3rd incident the Chile player smacks the Italian square in the face for trying to kick the ball from under his legs, doesn’t get sent off so the same Italian player then dishes out his own justice to the same Chilean player.
The Chileans are as at fault, if not more so, than the Italians & yet David Coleman says the Chileans were prepared to be reasonable & the Italians only prepared to use force!!

So the 2 perpetrators in this video nasty play or have played for England C! They want banning along with the ref who appears to be a complete fuckwit!

The first challenge & the one by the corner flag aren’t good – the first should have been a straight red & the corner flag one was reckless (with no chance of getting the ball which is a caution but at a push you could argue a straight red for excessive force.
Other than that, there’s not much in the video clip that justifies the journalists use of the phrase that he’s “never seen such savagery on a football pitch” and the one where the linesman gets cleaned out had been given against the fella who was the victim of most of the challenges – then I saw the journalist was Adrian Durham who I’m assuming is the same prat of an Adrian Durham who has the TalkSport show

Rosler said that it was giving away teams an advantage coz it was allowing their bench to put pressure on the linesman on that side when the home team were too far away to do the same

in reply to: So, who do we want now then? #135487

I’d live to see Pulis in charge but I have the feeling that these days, after winning premier league manager of the year last season, he will think that taking in the job of a bottom 3 championship club is somewhat below him.

If you don’t ask you don’t get I guess but, in footballing terms alone, I’d be happy with MacKay too.

There’s no-one else who stands out to me

in reply to: Rosler’s signings #135486
Taylor
Taylor-Sinclair
Figueroa (technically)
Cowie
Huws
Forshaw
Waghorn
Riera
Delort

Off top of my head

Kvist

I remember a puny little left back being forced into the first team many years ago through injuries to other players. Had a nightmare début but had to learn the hard way.
His name was Leighton Baines, the rest is history as they say.

Strangely enough I remember being very impressed with Baines when he made his debut against a top flight side in the League Cup

I notice the picture seems to have gone from Twitter. I hope someone (maybe Rosler, maybe DW) has b******ed him and asked what the **** he thinks he’s doing.

It’s a good job I don’t swear :)

Does your boss dictate to you what you can do in your free time?

Why are people getting stressed about this, he was at home on his own time because Rosler had chosen to leave him out.
No, but his boss does. They have a code of conductguidelines regarding social media that they must adhere to. And that’s not my opinion, it’s a fact.

I’m quite sure that there is no formal clause that stipulates they should not post half-naked selfies on Twitter while there is a match going on but unless he’s completely thick (not beyond the realms of possibility) he would pretty much know that that is the kind of thing that would, at best, be frowned upon.
if it is frowned upon or barred then its only because of the over reaction of some people to what a footballer not selected for a match day squad should be doing whilst that game is on.
Personally I wouldn’t have expected him to have travelled down to the Amex to watch it, or go to the DW to watch the beam back nor watch some dodgy feed on his own pc, so I couldn’t care less if he posts a photo of himself on twitter.

I haven’t seen the photo however so if he’s waving his tallywhacker about, I take it all back

on this season’s performances his signings are to blame.

I said to my mates at the back end of last season that my two concerns about Rosler were his incessant squad rotation & also his signings.
I thought that with the exception of Waghorn they were garbage, he rarely played most of them & all the ones performing were other manager’s men. Even Waghorn seemed an odd permanent signing to make at the time – I only rate him as average at the best of times but to sign him on a 3 year deal when we still had a chance of getting promoted was strange coz there’s no way in the memory of man that he is good enough for the top flight so he’d have been left out of the side even more often than he currently is had we gone up
Absolute rubbish.

I don’t beleive for a second you have mates…. ;)
Alright then .. I told the people who happened to be sat next to me at the match!!

Cherries top of the league with a ground that wouldn’t be big enough to hold even our present gates. It would also be interesting to know the cost of their squad. What they do have is an astute manager whose players have fight and guts and don’ throw in the towel as soon as a throw-in is conceded! Good luck to them!!!

I’m not denying the talents of their manager & players or the faults of Latics’ ones, but it should be pointed out that Bournemouth are currently being bankrolled by Russian petrochemicals mogul Maxim Denim.
They made a loss of £15mill in the season they got out of League 1 and their losses since then (whilst not yet public) are likely to have increased substantially. An article I read last week has them down as one of 7 clubs “very likely” (the others being Birmingham, Bolton, Middlesbrough, Notts Forest & Wolves) to receive a transfer embargo in January. Incidentally, Latics were one of only 3 clubs (Millwall & Rotherham being the others) who were classed as “very unlikely”.
They have also been one of the most vocal critics of the FFP regulations & have argued that it is stifling their ambition.

So yes they do have an astute manager (although he didn’t do that well at Burnley where he didn’t have quite so much financial backing behind him) & players with fight & guts, but they are also spending well beyond their income – admittedly as Latics once did
