Leading up to the second goal yesterday he showed signs that actually he doesn’t really give two shits about our club but more importantly his own team and players.
At the point Moses took the shot, Hugo was pointing at the ground, to where he wanted the ball playing to him. The rebound was taken and executed by ( an energetic) MacArthur . While the players raced after the goal scorer to celebrate. Hugo remained in his position simply pointing at the ground where he felt the ball should have gone. No instinct to think ” get the fuck in we’ve scored I’m going to go and jump on James and give him a kiss”. Just no response at all to a goal that now has given us platform the put together a decent run.
I didn’t notice this till I saw football first this morning but to be honest I look at it differently
To be honest, he was rightly fecked off that yet again Moses took the selfish option of trying a relatively difficult shot instead of passing to a team mate who was in a far better position
I’m assuming that Moses got a bit of a rollicking from the manager & his team mates for the error against Everton when we were 1-0 up so to see him do it again would have been infuriating & a sign that Moses hasn’t learnt his lesson – yesterday he got lucky that the ball pinged off Bogdan’s kneeAlso if you watch the footage again you will see that after his initial exasperation at Moses choice of taking the shot on Rodallega is about the 3rd player over to Moses & McArthur. You can however see him saying somet to Moses as they come away (presumably about passing it)
Probably all bull but dunno what the “tricky” situation could be – I’m assuming it may be someone/some group who already own one football club wanting to use Latics as a feeder or nursery club
Probably
If the current system is anything like the one I have here then at the end of the season it just needs someone to go into the software, select “all” & deactivate then the card won’t work again
I never tried that with my old season ticket although I know people that did & I guess the club got wind of it & changed it for that reason. Or they had the facility anyway & just put a reminder in the diary to deactivate the cards at the end of the season
Having thought about it though, the new system was probably put in to be used in conjunction with the bar code scanner which reads the individual match day tickets
We have a similar proximity card & scanner on the doors at work which I was responsible for getting installed
When the cards come, they are all numbered & have to be activated via the software which links into the door entry computer system.
If a card is lost it is de-activated & the scanner no longer recognises it if someone tries to use it to get in. Likewise if a new batch of cards arrives then they don’t work until the card is activated centrally.I assume that the scanner on the turnstile links back to a similar entry device computer system which recognises the card & activates the turnstile. If the card isn’t on the system then the entry software won’t recognise it & the turnstile won’t work. Your problem isn’t getting the scanner to read the card but getting the software that the scanner links to to recognise it & I don’t think there’s any way round it unless you know the exact software programme that runs everything
If it was just a magnetic card & magnetic reader not linked up to any central device then in theory you should be able to use it elsewhere but I very much doubt that is the case
The media get their way again. Bring in the next lamb to be slaughtered.
I actually agree with this comment what about puttin Oliver Holt in charge
No. He had to go. It’s not about whether he was a good manager or not (not, in my opinion, but that’s irrelevant) or whether Terry should remain as captain (again my opinion is not).
But if Capello disagreed he should have been saying this in private to the FA. He had put whoever would take over the captain’s role in an untenable position. Knowing that the manager doesn’t want you, and would prefer (and maybe discuss things with) someone else in the squad.
That cannot be right for team discipline and harmony.
Of course it would have been resolved earlier if Terry had stood down from the captaincy (“pressures”, “mental strain” etc make a great temporary excuse). But we can’t expect England’s captain to act honourably can we?
Yes he had to go but I’d disagree with your reasoning on a number of counts:
1) I hate racism & hate racists but John Terry is at present innocent until proven guilty. Just as Harry Redknapp was & a criminal charge hanging over his head for several years had no bearing in his ability to manage his club sides. John Terry has nothing to “act honourable” about. He has been charged with a criminal offence & he has pleaded not guilty to it – until such time as a jury agrees or disagrees with him then the FA should have left well alone. What they have done now (IMO) is cast an aspertion of guilt over John Terry before the trial. The fact I can’t stand John Terry (or at least the public image he gives off & in part the media portrayal of him) is by the by
2) The England manager should (IMO) be the sole decider of who he selects in his squad & who he selects as captain. If the FA have yet to ascertain whether John Terry is guilty of any misconduct then IMO I don’t think that a) then can “suspend” him from his duty as captain & b) interfere in the manager’s right to make his own decisions
3) I think that Capello made his feelings very clear to the FA last week & they ignored them to make their own decision. They took this decision knowing full well the risk they were running in undermining Capello’s authority as manager & the possible consequences. John Terry would have known Capello didn’t agree with it, the rest of the squad including the new captain would have known that Capello didn’t agree with it & the conditions this would have created in the England camp. The FA in effect forced Capello’s hand & I think he knew before making the comments to the Italian media that he was resigning because of this underminingThe FA were either naive in thinking that Capello would accept their decision after stressing his disagreement with it or knew exactly what they were doing when making the Terry decision.
So i don’t think he had to go for publicly coming out against his bosses but I think that he had to walk away himself after being so publicly underminedWith proper coaches and a more experienced assistant he would have a better chance than he has had with a team used to losing that are being coached by third division players.Coaches & assistants only do what the manager asks or tells them to do. The buck for poor training, tactics, formations etc.. lies with the manager & not his assistants
If he needs other people in to tell him what to do then he shouldn’t be in the job in the first placeAgreed, & after his error for Spurs 1st goal last Tuesday night, he looked pretty solid defensively too
There’s absolutely nowt wrong with em for playing football on in my opinion & they’re alot safer (in terms of injuries) than some of the rock hard & bone dry grass pitches I’ve played & reffed on over the years.
I’m no professional footballer but I’ve played on the i-pitches & done sliding tackles & the grazing occurs but is minimal.
However I’m not sure it’s a suitable surface for playing rugby league on seeing as how a large portion of the game is being slammed to the floor by big fat blokes & the subsequent scraping across the surface that this leads to as its bound to cause more severe friction burns than would occur in football
Back to football I fully expect to see them back in non & lower league football within the next few years
They are not playing 2 up front & if they’re supposed to be then Moses wants hauling off for failing to carry out his instructions
From watching this new formation since Bobby started with it & think it’s supposed to be:
3 centre halves
2 wing backs
2 central midfielders
2 more advanced midfielders in Gomez & Moses who both are apparently best suited to the “in the hole” role. Presumably there to provide the link in the gap between midfield & the striker which was more like a chasm under the system he used previously
1 centre forwardSo what does that make it? a 3-4-2-1? or a 3-2-2-2-1? or I believe what Terry Venables called the Xmas tree formation prior to Euro 96?
It certainly isn’t 2 up front & Moses spend no more time as a second forward that Gomez does
Personally i think the system is better suited to the personnel Latics have (except up front) than previous systems even if the results don’t necessarily back that up.
Against Bolton I’d like to see it with McArthur (who I thought was excellent on Saturday) & Diame in the middle & push McCarthy further forward to take the place of Gomez or Moses. For me McCarthy’s best performances have come when he’s been given that “free” midfield roleOh & whilst I’m on, as I had a dig at him on Wednesday morning I thought Beausejour deservedly won MOM on Saturday & he looked good going forward & at the back
You cant have Tyldesley as ref either ultra biasedI’ll see you in court for that outrageous piece of libel!!!!!
Anyway, I still fancy myself as quite a handy right back so I haven’t hung up my playing boots just yet!!
Nope I got married at a church in St Helens and one of my mates was my best man
There was a bloke who used to manage the Wetherspoons in Tyldesley who I know was a Latics fan & got married at the stadium not long after it got its licence so you may be thinking of him – don’t know if he was from Tyldesley or whether De Zeeuw was his best man though
£9 for mine – although it is 3 storeys ;)
Some of em wanted £12-£14
What i tend to find with Di Santo is that for some periods of a game he really seems to give it his all & then a switch will go in his head & he just seems to stop – the 2-2 away at West Brom last season is one that springs immediately to mind. Could be his fitness, could be that he just thinks why should he bother or whatever but its noticeable
There are also games like (from what i saw of it) Tuesday when he just seems to do naff all from the offThe games where he seems to be on his game from the start & for the whole 90 seem very few & far between.
Conor Sammon for all his apparent inability to put the small round thing between & under the posts will run, chase etc.. all game long
I agree with Warrington – flatters to deceive does our Victor (more often than not)
With regards to Sammon. He’s not done as well as I’d hoped but out of our 3 centre forwards he is still the one best suited to the lone striker role. He couldn’t hit a cows @r$e with a banjo but he is the only one who will chase & harry the back line of the opposition or defend from the front (whatever you wanna call it) & it allows the team not to get to pushed back coz Di Santo’s closing down appeared none existent on Tuesday at times
From what I can gather, most (if not all) have dies as a result of getting crushed in the stampede to get on the pitch
