I think Maloney is playing a really big gamble.

I think we might yet slip into a relegation places battle. I think it’s going to be very close…but it need not be so.
To hear that Maloney isn’t getting a penny of the Stones money…staggering. I was thinking we’d add about £150k to it and maybe have £500k to look for a decent striker. I was thinking a bit of ambition, approach Millwall and enquire about Langstaff. He couldn’t stop scoring in League 2 for Notts County, but has found it hard in the Championship. Even on loan with us ‘helping to get him firing again’, I thought it was worth a pint.

But we’ve no genuine ambition as a club. It’s all very ‘meh’, isn’t it? I don’t even know who are next home games are against, such has my interest wained.

        Well….

Absolutely fantastic. Every player put a shift in and gave 110%. Maloney got tactics and selection spot on. No complaints at all.

Bolton are awful though. But maybe it was us that played well? Dale Taylor really showed what he can do today…they all did. Adeeko was solid, Thelo showed why it will be hard to keep hold of him.

        Fantastic performance. Well done everyone.

My dad threw coins into those buckets…I remember it clearly.

I would also say that this current team we have is not a million miles from the team we cobbled together in administration. We had players like Viv Solomon-Otobor and Dan Gardner come in and play out of their skin.

This current squad, too many loans who are nowhere near good enough and who are stealing wages. I’d seriously fire every one of them off. We wouldn’t be losing much.

I’m one of those. 38 years and didn’t renew. And everything I feared and predicted has come true. I’m not stupid…I could see it.

But the worst thing is, I’ve gone beyond being a casual floating fan who attends every few games. I’ve got to the point where I’ve not been for ages. I’ve done 2 homes all season. In my heart of hearts I’ve lost interest. The way things have declined, as sickened me. The way we are being ran…just seems to actually lack ambition, yet they claim differently.
I never wanted Maloney as manager. The football is awful. It’s supposed to entertain you. Nah, no way does it. I genuinely believe we are heading down and down and when our attendances get so low…minus 5k, we will be moved out to play at Leigh Sports Village.
This isn’t the Wigan Athletic I loved. The days of Mathias, even the days of Swain. We struggled and were shite, but we still got a degree of entertainment. We didn’t have a pot to piss in. But now we have…and we are worse!
Awful what’s happened to this club.

Maloney has already mentioned Stones back on 6th January from Oldham….

You can see they’re going to say Stones will strengthen us in the forwards…like a new signing.

              Must think we’re stupid.

                Without question.

At any other club, they’d have already announced he’s gone this afternoon.

But this is Latics. Taking the piss out of the supporters, I think.

Drops Thelo, Jonny and Matt Smith? What the actual F?

Just do it. It’s worse than the Kolo spell….

Ah well, I’ve read comments this morning from Maloney about why he stopped Stones playing for Oldham in the cup at the weekend, to stop him getting cup tied.

“We expect to have him back around the 6th of January…”

So there you go. Get Stones back in and build it up as being like a new signing.

That’s their way of thinking. It’s scrimping and penny pinching all the time. If that’s how Maloney is thinking, he deserves any shit he gets. Stones looked way off the ball when he last played for us, so do they think he’s going to come back from a couple of months at at Oldham and be a world beater?

Unless they get their fingers out and start running this club with some semblance of actual ambition, I don’t think I’ll go another game this season. I keep thinking something will happen and it will get better…but how will it it we just go round in circles like that?

                  It’s shite.

                    Fair enough.

Rankine is a poor man’s Lee Jenkinson. (Remenber him?) Was he REALLY on Chelsea’s books? Because I’m not so sure.

Gets on the ball, looks the part, shite all end result. Every time.

ALL the loan players need fuckinh right off and with the total 8k a week wages we will save, we need to use that on a striker. And a decent striker at that. Sze is nowhere near good enough.

It’s a really bad Wigan Athletic side this. Reminds me of 1993 when we got relegated to the bottom tier. Horrible to watch.

Why is Matt Smith playing like a sweeper role? It’s bizarre.

Still too many bellends on social media sticking up for Maloney…what will it take?

We are the most apathetic fan base going. We really are. Just put up with too much shite…”be grateful we have a club..”. Oh p#££ off!

Them lot over the hill have to be close to releiving Evatt of his duties. And you know what? They’ll probably move for Mark Robins now he’s available. Wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

Whilst we’ll still be stuck with Mr Touchy-Face. Even he knows he’s shite. And look at the attendances? Dropping more and more. If nothing is done, we will go down and be pulling in 4k crowds next season, giving Danson the perfect excuse to ship us out to Leigh Sports Village. Maybe that’s the plan all along?

                      We’re dying.

We’ve missed put on so much sponsorship and investment over the years. In the majority of the Premier league years, we had either JJB of D.W. Sports as the stadium “sponsor”. But how do you give money to yourself, for something you own? So all those years where we had a great opportunity to attract decent sponsorship for the stadium, and we missed out on it. We even had JJB as our lit manufacturer and also our front of shirt sponsorship. Why? Yes, it maximised brand exposure for our owner and his businesses. But look where JJB is now…gone. So that did well then…

The income we missed out on though, due to that cronyism. As soon as the Whelan’s sold up, we were f@&£d big time. With them steering the ship, and backing the managers, we did amazingly well over the years.
From the moment they went, we were dodging sea mines. The nightmare of Choi, then Talal and his gang, we’ve just not had proper financial management of the club since the Whelan’s went. We now have the wealthiest owner we will likely every have, but to what aim or end, none of us are actually sure, or convinced.
Any owner at whatever level, really has to put some money into a club somewhere along the line. You have to have ambition and aims, or else why bother? At the moment, I’ve no idea what our actual aim is. I can tell you what my fear is though. My fear is we sink into the relegation mire and I fear we wouldn’t get out of it. Wigan Athletic in League Two? Well, it’s happened to Bradford and they get really good home gates. And if we do fall down to League Two, if Danson really does want to see us progress, he’s then going to have to spend even more money. The trouble is, we will be a harder sell to attract players, so the task of getting a good side together will be even harder. If we did fall down this season, we need to pack in with signing loads of loan players. There is no longevity to it. It’s our own players we need to bring through and pick up players who are OUR players who we can sell on in the future. Having a squad full of loan players means your losing out on having any value into the squad. I’ve no doubt we will be lucky to have Tickle and Asgaard after the transfer window. That will be two really big losses. Can we replace them without spending money? No. Don’t forget we’ve sold Charlie Hughes already. Some of that money shouldve been used for strengthening. I am surprised at the poor quality of the players we have brought in. None have impressed me especially. Maybe I set my sights too high.

I stand by what I said.

Part of me has sympathy for Maloney because it sounds like he’s doing the work of ten men, when all he should be concentrating on is managing the team. But if he’s daft enough to do it, more fool him.

Bringing in a 33 year old defender when we are crying out for a real centre forward, I am scratching my head. We lack goals and you could merge Taylor and Hugill together and you still wouldn’t have Pat Gavin. Yes, Pat Gavin, a wanton journeyman who we picked up free in 1993. He came in, scored a few goals, was never a world beater but did for us at the time.

And that’s what we need right now. The attendance tomorrow is going to be very poor I think. Honestly, I’ve no intention of going to a game any time soon. Nothing is whetting the appetite.

We really did our very best to lose that game.

Why did he make so many subs in the second half? And we played “let’s hang on” again and came unstuck.

Really good first half, and Blackpool were shocking. Last half hour…we were shocking and we were very lucky not to lose that game, thanks to Maloney.

                            Get him gone.

                              We’re far too slow.

They were crisper and played some good stuff.

Why was our only tactic 2nd half to get that winger on left knocking balls into the box? We’ve no proper tall striker in there.

We look like a relegation team, to be honest.

Blackpool away next. They’re on a shocking run. And we all know what will happen, don’t we?

Get shut of him. Now. Needs an experienced man to come in and sort this.

                                Also…

Get an experienced manager in with his own staff and let them turn the shitshow around.

                                Tony Pulis or Mick McCarthy.

Either would do much better with this squad.

Nothing fancy, more industrial football. We’re Wigan Athletic, not Barcelona. Until Martinez we were a direct team. Direct under Mathias, Deehan, Benson, even Paul Jewell had us direct and going 442 and it served us well. How many goals did we score off a long punt up for Ellington and Roberts, or Teale crossing over and McCulloch smashing a header in? Loads.

We are what we are. We’re Wigan Athletic, we do better off direct football and that is an absolute fact.

Just watched a podcast of ex stoke players talking about Tony Pulis and how tough pre season and training was under him. Proper old school. He told them “you might not be the best squad, but you’ll be the f****** fittest.”

We need someone like that here. I don’t want us to have a likeable manager who like, yet us be struggling and playing shite. I’d sooner us have a bit of a “don’t give a shit” gobshite in charge and be playing better and winning games. Someone like Tony Pulis could absolutely turn this club around. Our last 3 managers have had little experience, and we’ve had a mixed bag with them. Richardson, Kolo the Klown, and now Baloney. Can you see the pattern here? Make a proper appointment for a change. Stop looking for easy or cheaper options. It’s cost us so much already.

Go for an experienced manager, let them bring in their own staff and let’s turn this absolute shit show around.
