Didnt we take a big loss on him in the first place ?
Maybe this will make up some of the shortfall
Mutty, Where have you heard about ‘less than 6,000 Season Tickets’ ?
I’ve no idea whether that’s right or wrong but I wasn’t aware the club had said anything on the subject (although they may have??)
I’ll be at Haydock races, which is doubling up as a Birthday do for another ST holder and reasonably frequent ‘Away follower’ , many others I know are in Tenerife/Majorca/Ibiza etc
It used to start 3rd week of August when I were a lad !,….mind you that was when all the players wore Brylcreem and you might, just might get a booking if you pulled a knife on a troublesome winger (or certainly if you did it twice)
Personally , I’m somewhat disappointed they didn’t make it as my oldest pal who’s lived in the US for many years is coming for a three week home visit and had already incorporated a Wembley weekend in his trip. I’d have liked them to get there for him and indeed a couple of other Rugby ‘lifers’ of my acquaintance, neither of whom have ever given me or Latics ANY stick over the years.
Mutty you really ought to know better by now , come on ! lurk if you must but don’t join in , unless of course you wish to share your thoughts on the Moyes appointment or other football related stuff.
Hang on a minute, whether he kicked a ball in the slums or what , his breeches arse isn’t hanging out now ?
Sanchez, Suarez, the Germans,Spaniards and Italians etc etc are all minted and are all paid similarly obscene amounts
You can argue it’s wrong or not …..but I expect all the Barcelona and Real Madrid players are pampered to buggery an’ all, but by and large it doesn’t impair their international ambitions/performances.
(By the way, the Moyes appointment is a pretty good outcome for your lot I reckon)
Sorry, but I can’t describe our collective players as a ‘turd’, they are clearly better individually than many or most of the teams that continually get the better of them.
Now, ‘Underperforming, over anxious shower of tarts’…..maybe !
But that big bearded redhead lad who bossed the midfield for Iceland is a mundane p!ayer in an ordinary Championship side and hasn’t got near a Premiership contract and that goes for all their players beyond Sigurdsson and Gudjhonssen (who is a decade past his best.)
They are though a TEAM and play like it…..ditto Wales ….ditto Costa Rica at the last World Cup and typically that goes for Germany who also have the benefit of being high class individuals, who are still MANAGED to play together as a good team unit.
That’s the challenge facing Allardyce choosing the right system and then the right players best suited to each position in that system and NOT the biggest name players.
Whether he will or not ….???
I take it there’s no chance that Sky might balls this up for you ?
Or have they declared their hand for October ?Yes indeed Jimmy, same here
Thanks JR
If available and if deemed appropriate, would anyone care to post a photo of Alan?
I have been going since the late 60’s and feel sure I ought to recognise him , but a photo would help and I’m sure other Posters may be interested in ‘seeing’ Alan.
“No thanks” from me, he had a great spell at Swansea a few years ago, but since then he seems to have wandered from club to club (mostly on loan) making little or no impression ?
Fully agree, outplayed us all night, very quick and committed, closing us down high up the pitch.
Would have settled for the draw at HT and we may have got it had we not conceded from yet another of our own ballsed up corner routine!
Selection wrong tonight and he persevered with a clearly out of sorts Jacobs who I guess was feeling the effects of the injury that forced him off on Sat. Writing on the wall a bit given we scraped through the last two home games against opposition not nearly as good as tonight’s.
Junior changed the game for the better, but he should have been on from half time really, last 15/20 didn’t give him long enough.
Remember it so well, we went to Shrewsbury taken by my mate’s Dad , four of us there were all sporting Parkas and Latics scarves, Johnny King put us in front with a near post header from a corner.
They equalised at nearly five o clock !
Walking back to the car , the aforementioned Latics scarf earned one of the lads a punch in the face from some passing twenty something scumbag, Tough guy he was , we were all about fourteen , always had a slight downer on Shrewsbury since then, also I noticed that they are still reasonably stocked with knobhead wannabe hard men yesterday (grow up you imbeciles)
Replay saw about 11,500 on at Springy, Tommy Gore with the 25 yard daisy cutter at The Springfield end, Albert Jackson scored at the same end with a kind of acrobatic volley in the 6 yard box in extra time I think?Great stuff, anyway, we went on to play what was then ‘top of the league Mansfield in front of 15,000+ at Springfield in the next round, snatched a draw thanks to an own goal but got done 3-1 in the replay.
Dont see those types of crowds now for FA Cup ties even when we were Premier League. Things change and not always for the better…..
No it was Newcastle (Robert Lee)
Mutty, don’t labour under the misapprehension that the Rugby club emerged from the sale of Central Park with any pot of gold and nowhere near £9m.
Aside from any debts they may have had, the sale of the land was greatly compromised by the cost of settling the ‘ransom strip’ ……a significant legal/real estate technicality concerning land towards the front of the Central Park footprint.
They may have emerged solvent, but they were broadly speaking…..’without one to piss in’ so to speak. What have politicians of ANY stripe ever done for WAFC or indeed football in general?
Anyway, are you saying that unless you live in social housing then you must be living a ‘champagne lifestyle’ ?
If you have a neat garden you must be a Tory ? -
