Pro rata based on 29 or even 27 games he has been in charge, had he been in charge for 46 games we still wouldn’t have gone up automatically. Just sayin !

      Simple mathematics doesn’t apply.
With a pre-season and chance to spend what money we had on his own targets could we have been in the top 2?
Or maybe our good run would have been earlier in the season and we’d be going into the play-offs in even worse form (or maybe missed out).
Nobody can answer it, but we’ve got to give some credit to the decision makers who accepted they made a mistake in appointing Coyle and acted “quite” quickly.

No mean feat and a fine acheivement turning the season round and steering the club into the play offs from 14th position back in December.
Some of the performances have been awful but at least we can breathe a bit easier tonight and look forward to the play off game next week whoever we face.

Bolton was his first game in charge, so it is 51 points from 27 games.
Now we are there hopefully the team is refocused and can perform to the level that they have done under Uwe against the higher ranked teams.

          It’s certainly uncomfortable!

On Saturday, Reading entertain Burnley, who are no longer in the race. Brighton go to Forest, who are no longer in the race. And Wigan go to Blackburn, who are no longer in the race. It’s difficult to know what mood any of the opponents will be in.

Three points tonight will see us into the play offs. Birmingham have a shocking record, but are fighting for their lives – just as Blackpool were.

Blackburn are certainly still in the race if we lose by a couple of goals tonight.

            Birmingham City average attendance 15,231

            Wigan Athletic average attendance 15,176

            Not a great difference.

Is that right? Not really a big club at all then, are they?

And the daftest accent since Cornwall.[/quote]

In addition, Blackburn (14,869) and more suprisingly Burnley (13,719) have lower averages than us this season.
Going back to early 90’s, when we were in Div3 with Birmingham and Burnley, our average was 2k while theirs was similar to today.
Really shows the progress we’ve made compared to these “big” clubs!
Keep going like this and we’ll need a bigger stadium in another 20 years ;)

I remember going to a game in Birmingham as a kid (I think Villa) and a kid of a similar age offering my Dad his services to look after his car for a fee. The car was fine after the game and paying a couple of quid was the lesser of two evils.

When Ramis got injured Uwe was furious with Barnett as he was sat on the bench and hadn’t been warming up. He quickly started warming up, but Caldwell was ready to play.

Being in the Premier League led to several pointless signings, just to add squad numbers.
                    Thinking a bit further back:-

Magno Vieira – Boy wonder from Brasil who never played for us.
Neil Woods – Loan signing under Deehan.
Dino Hernandez (?) – We will never know what our scouts saw in him.
Chris Lightfoot – Record signing, but sold off to Crewe in less than one season.

Dont understand this transfer if it goes ahead as he’ll be back in the championship come what may.

Maybe it is as simple as we want to sell or reduce the wage bill and they are looking for a defender to increase their chances of staying up.
Even if Palace get relegated Ramis will have another chance to move on in the summer if he is fit and plays well enough.

“It is the same for me, the person who takes over from Roberto Martinez has a massive task – and I am sure David will be alright and I am sure I will be alright.”

Coyle’s reign was just a bad dream then.

Actually Phil Daley scored the goal. Ball was crossed in from the left by Tankard if I remember correctly. At that time they had just removed the roof off the away end and the following look particularly sparse in an away end that held more than 3k.
