JPC01 – nothing whatsoever related to the content of your posts, but I have to say that your writing style intrigues me. It’s almost as if you’re composing a telegram.

You’re not an ex-army radio mon, are you? ;)

like it…in response to your questions, answer NO (linguist, yes)

in reply to: He’s got a sweet left foot on him? #93907

I’ve never understood this comment, especially as its universally spoken about a predominantly left footed player.
He’s got a wand of a left foot.
He’s got a sweet left foot.
He’s got a fair left foot on him.
Cracking left peg.

All phrases coined to elaborate on the fact that a left footed footballer can kick a ball well with his left foot. But why? Isn’t that a requirement?

Baffles me, what other phrases get on your nerves eh?

A bit like Ramis who rattled that one in with his left on Tuesday night, but who – according to at least one poster on this forum – has no left foot and should be playing on the right of the three centre halves… ;)

Edit: ‘You’re not coming near me with that tiny thing’ – that’s the phrase that winds me up the most.
One swallow and all that … jury out on his defensive rigour, even Salford Latic no longer totally convinced if he understand his recent post (if Ramis doesn’t make it as a centre back, then attack, etc.)

Granted a good goal last night, but still very much in the RED for me,
lets see, eh … ??

Alcaraz, Figueroa + Caldwell / Ramis for me at Sunderland.

what do you mean mate rough

yes mate as in the natives wern’t very friendly
Stood on windy hill at Valley Parade…times moved on a bit since.

They weren’t to friendly when they came down to Springfield Park either (good old days when there was little / no segregation)

in reply to: Victor Bravo ! #93828

To cap off a good evening, Cattermole got himself sent off and should be missing Saturday. :cheer:

Actually, probably would have been better had he saved himself for Saturday (Sunderland down to 10 at some point) :(

Bless his little cotton socks, his team mates reckon he is getting a raw deal from match officials, wonder if it is because he is a cheating little toe rag ;)

Not alone ….

United – Young, Welbeck, Valencia, Other (?) – practically, half a team
Chelsea – Ivanovic, Oscar

Managers do little to rectify (Ferguson, Di Matteo …). Yet have yet to see United suffer on account of the above … (genuine appeals turned down and /or yellow cards brandished for cheating)

Welbeck should not even have been on the pitch at Anfield (2 YELLOWS vs. Wigan minimum or straight RED).

in reply to: steve kean ( a copy & paste news item ) #93759
Steve Kean is on the brink of being sacked as manager of Blackburn Rovers.

Owners Venky’s have been in talks about Kean’s position for the past 48 hours, despite the club being in an automatic promotion place in the Championship.

Kean’s Blackburn record
•Games: 74
•Won: 21
•Drawn: 16
•Lost: 37

Further talks are planned on Monday, with a final decision on Kean’s fate expected in the next 24 hours.

Better off out of it – nice pay day, feet up for a while, back in gainful employment soon on a decent whack (hard life…)

Failure rewarded (Erickson, AVB, Bruce, McCarthy, etc. etc.)

in reply to: A message from the Lightside… #93757
If you had said something along the lines of Di Santo out Boselli in before the game I would have agreed with you Hindley…

But in hindsight we didnt make enough of our crosses or corners to utilise the lad properly.

Its a bit of a strange one as the front three seem switch positions a lot this season but I think that works best when Di Santo is in the team and can move into different spaces to receive the ball as our target man

In hindsight I may have played Mcmanaman and Crusat either side of Kone but unfortunately Martinez does not have that luxury :(

Miyaichi (Crusat – not good enough; McMan – as Maloney)

in reply to: A message from the Lightside… #93701
I also think Gomez had a decent game but Watson ? What does RM see in him ? Every man and his dog can see that the lad is clearly out of his depth but he still persists with him ! The last 2 home games have been below par in my opinion and we should have had at least four points from them and not just the one. The likes of Stoke, Fulham and other sides of that ilk at home should be our steady supply of all important survival points ! Good job Southampton were slow out of the traps !

Had we done so then we’d be on a par, points-wise, versus last season,(same fixtures – excl. Southampton).

As it is, 3 down … took 4 points off next two up, Sunderland (A) and Everton (H) last year …. tricky (Fletcher on fire, Everton quick out the traps for once)

come on mate disanto was injured from the welbick tackle i was there i saw it in the flesh have you been on the moon if he was dropped he would have been a sub stop whinging and get behind the manager 3 seasons of keeping us up says it all

calf strain (so I heard)

in reply to: Little wigan #93616
Still above Liverpool :P

more’s the pity that Liverpool were done by MANURE today

Same as it ever was – debatable decisions in their favour again today (Wigan, Pool), Fergie spouting Verbal D as ever, Utd fans reverting to type after the final whistle.

One scouser wound up HOW MANY Utd fans ??? Disgraceful. Scum.

in reply to: Beausejour #93591
Dynamics :cheer: :cheer:

Gotcha. Listened to too many Martinez post-match interviews !

Still, the point’s relevant (was there for all to see at Stoke).

Semantics.

in reply to: Beausejour #93586

What is the point of him? Winger? Don’t make me laugh!

Gary Teale was like Garrincha, compared to him.

He is absolutely god awful. Can’t beat a full-back, and when he does have chance to play a ball in, his delivery is awful.

Does anybody else see this? Why can’t Martinez see it?

Decent passage of play and good ball into to Gomez (bar -first half).

Cleared one off the line from under Rodallega’s nose in 1st

Never has had pace in abundance. But can pick out a decent pass.

Impact of his absence on team dynamics was evident against Stoke when he went off after first 20 …
Please don’s say that word, It doesn’t make any sense and is meaningless in football terms. :) :) :) :) B) :P
?????

On sat that we get all three points, not be easy against a Fulham side full of experience

Possible if both Berbatov AND Ramis (Alcaraz back in) don’t turn up.

UNFORTUNATELY BOTH DID (BERBATOV INSTRUMENTAL IN 1ST GOAL)

Hoping Rodallega doesn’t do a Roberts (score against us!)

SO MUCH FOR HOPE. WITH OUR DEFENCE …?

Still a tough ask, given our prior record against them.

LETHARGIC ATTITUDE / BEATEN BEFORE WE STARTED = ((A) CONCERNED BY PRIOR RECORD VS BOGEY TEAM OR (B) WIGAN (CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS)JUST COULDN’T BE ARS*D ???

Clean sheet would be quite an achievement !!
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE(WHEN RAMIS, CALDWELL AND WATSON – ALL THREE – CAN’T SEE OFF RUIZ FOR 2ND GOAL…ENOUGH SAID)

Other :

Ben Watson has never been able to take a set-piece to save his life and yet we still persist (FFS, ……..step forward MAYNOR or someone else can’t be any worse …

McCarthy – ball distribution woeful at times.

Hopefully, Alcaraz will be back for Sunderland

Ramis was no worse than Caldwell today (mind you, ball distribution was poor…balls lumped forward in hope). At least managed to make a relative success of presenting some pressies to raffle winners in the Hospitality Lounge after the game (i.e. find his man) :cheer: :cheer:

McManaman…lively when he came on.

Why didn’t we start the game with Miyaichi (taking place of Di Santo). Inject a little pace…put Fulham on the backfoot. Give the young enthusiastic young ‘un a chance !

Disappointing to hear mixed reception received by Rodallega at the beginning. Respect given only on refusal by same to celebrate his goal… good one it was too.

Game today very much reminiscent of same fixture 11 months ago(0-2). And yet we have supposedly moved on to another level since. Last 10 games of 2011/12 already something of the distant past.

Whelan ought to take a leaf out of Abramovich’s book, get down to the training ground, call the guys round and ask them how the same team as last year (pretty much so) can make such a half-arsed attempt this, early doors. Not acceptable.

Even Bobby, post-match, is now talking of opening up the competition in the grab for 1st 11 places.

Defence, 2 goals conceded every league game, bar Southampton where we got lucky, tells its own story (whole team implicated).
