I sometimes wonder if people on here live in an alternate reality as I seem to see things completely different to them…
He also seems to have lost the ability to pick a pass. When he first came thought he may not be as good as Moses but he seemed to have an end product which Vic more often than not didn’t.
Are you serious lad?
He is one of the best short passers of the ball in the team he constantly receives the ball further back and lays off in a good position so he can advance forward its one the things I have been most impressed with in his time here.
Care to point some of these mislaid passes out or are you as I suspect talking tosh?
I like Gomez but that is a man who has mislaid a lot of passes this season.
OR are you saying that he doesn’t play enough through balls ?
What do you want him to do play a through ball to himself run onto it and score?
Maybe he can save a few penalty’s while he is at it too.
Agreed, but his decision-making yesterday at one or the other critical moment was not spot-on …costly, in fact (first 15 / R Stam)
He should of passed to Stam I cant deny that.
But I would bet my left testicle that if he had passed it to him absolutely nothing would of come of it.
That we’ll never know. ‘Don’t try, you don’t get’. Can’t have been any worse that what the actual outcome was. As much as I support Kone, sorry …decision-making of V Moses proportions.
And if I was the right back asked to bomb on and offer support, I’d be pretty fecked off given the effort made. Less inclined to to likewise next time round.

I see it’s Kone’s turn to cop for it this week! Jordi musn’t have been on the pitch long enough, eh?He wasn’t (min. 20 mins required).
Thinking about, there’s even a case based on recent performances for a man high on confidence and on top of his game to be in the starting 11 (Maloney – bench). Confidence, a wonderful thing in football, needs to be fully exploited. What’s more, he’s deserved the chance.
Did almost manage to earn us a penalty at the death (warranted)
Gomez before Maloney – jeez did I just say that
Did you not see my last post?
My point is that if it had happened to him he would of been rolling about like he’d been shot.
And you can get sent of for intent.
for that ref to give even a free kick let alone a yellow card suggests it must looked bad form were the ref was standing
I’m not sure that Wilshire is diver like some of the other, mainly foreign, Arsenal players, but I might be wrong.
You can get sent off for intent but I’m quite sure all he intended to do was to slide in and win the ball, which he did. There is no law that says you can’t knock the man over after you have won the ball.
The fact that THAT ref gave a yellow for it is no recommendation at all. I wouldn’t trust him to sit the right way on the bog. :)
And let me put this to you – if that had been McCarthy (for example) making the same tackle on Wilshire and Wilshire had juts got up and walked away, wouldn’t we now be screaming that little Wigan were being victimised?
Two sides to everything mate, I just didn’t see it as a foul.
This one does a very good impression feigning injury. They can’t all be ‘divers’.
Same story again the crossing was terrible from both sides. If Stam was a horse he would of been shot today.
If we had put half the crosses in the box that Jean and Ronald had the chance to put in we could of won this game by 2 or 3 goals today.
Thought Jones was immense today playing as the “ball mover” in midfield.
A boring job but someone has to do it and he did it really well.
Apart from the miss I thought Kone was good today and I cant exactly blame the lad for forgetting what to do when given a clear cut chance as we dont create many.
Cant wait to have our CB’s fit so Boyce can go back on the right as even getting on with his thirty’s he can at least cross a friggin ball!!
Not sure what is wrong with Jean maybe he caught whatever Stam has but after last season I thought we had got one of the best crosses of the ball at the club since Valencia left….
Hopefully he can snap out of it as I cant see anyone to replace him in that position.
Quality of Stam’s crosses today admittedly poor. Hasn’t been the case in recent weeks however. Far from it (indeed has offered a more potent threat going forward than Boyce).
Might even have got the first goal today had Kone played him in – first 15. Right back to boot.
Not the best day at the office offensively. Might you, conditions weren’t great out there. Didn’t see our promising England international O-C fare any better for Arsenal …
I do hope that we sign an out & out striker in january. For all of kones & di santos hard work, they are not natural finishers & if you dont score, you dont win matches. I am confident that with a goalscorer plus the return of our absentees might see an upturn in our fortunes. Oh & decent refeering.
We have a £6M proven goalscorer on the bench
With Kone off to ANC in January, notwithstanding the fact that he’s been firing blanks for a while now, things do look pretty grim. At least, he still pre-occupies the other team defensively (‘a threat’).
Today, for me he’s had a bad ‘un both in front of goal and in his decision-making in key positions – key moments in a tight game that could have gone either way.
We can’t keep blaming the referees. Make your own luck in this game.
I do hope you mean the African Cup of Nations and he’s not getting into politics or he might never come back. ;)I personally thought Kone looked good on the ball. He made a hash of one chance but at least he’s direct and isn’t afraid of having a shot. I think he’ll come good again.
As for a replacement, for me McManaman would be more suited to the role than Boselli – who, incidentally, I think might be going in January if we can get a replacement.
African Cup indeed, …we’ve had that one before.
Kone, good on the ball, but unfortunately what is equally true …in recent games – Reading, City and Arsenal he’s missed gilt-edged chances, granted he’s getting there, but we have to start converting if we’re to get out this mess. Today, furthermore omitted to play in Stam in first 15 mins. when through on goal.Bad decision (memories of V Moses). Look’s as though he needs a goal to get his confidence going again. Hope he does come good. The early season form of Di Santo and Kone has been key to our current points tally.
Bosselli – won’t be missed. What an investment (for a club of our limited means)
…Fellaini – why did you get caught !!Not clever (and don’t condone) what he did, but our friend Mr Shawcross has had that coming his way some considerable time. I’m surprised no-one decked him sooner for his week in-week out ‘touchy-feely’ approach.
Someone ought to tell Pulis that such tactics are better employed down at Twickenham ! A B disgrace what his lot get away with, week in, week out.
If two good things are to come out the Fellaini incident (3 actually) then they are
(1)
raised awareness of the illegal tactics used (’bout time the PL /Refs. came down hard and committed to punish perpetrators – start on Saturday

(2)
refreshing honesty by Manager Moyes – saw the incident unlike many A N Other Manager of selective eyesight – and refused to back his player (ditto Neville diving incident at Goodison recently)
goodpost goodpost
Messrs Ferguson and Wenger – take note – a lot to learn, notwithstanding your advanced years !!!

Fellaini – out the Everton /Wigan game
Ali Al Habsi, playing his 100th game for Wigan, produced early saves to deny Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lukas Podolski but Wigan had the best chance to open the scoring in the first half when Arouna Kone was played clean through but shot wide.
Al Habsi then denied Walcott at the start of the second half while Wojciech Szczesny produced late saves to deny Maynor Figueroa and Kone before the handball controversy.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger did not see that incident but was pleased his players showed they could grind out a victory on the back of Monday’s thumping 5-2 win at Reading.
He said: “They organised to stop us playing and they did that very well, especially in the middle of the park. We didn’t find the same fluency going forward and it was much more a win because we wanted the result than because we dominated the game.”
Surprise, surprise !!
And whilst we didn’t today get the Pulis / Shawcross antics, we had to tolerate the gamesmanship of the Gooners, who seem to have forgotton that footie was a game intended to be played by participants in a standing, upright manner, not one spent essentially on one’s ARSENAL or feigning injury
If we collect points over the Xmas break at the rate the Gooners have been totting up pens recently (Fulham, WBA, Wigan) then we’ll be in for a cracking Christmas.
Credit to the ONE team trying to play the game in the proper manner today. Commitment, honesty, integrity, … just a shame that final ingredient – quality – was missing at key moments. Not that we were inferior to Arsenal.
Disappointed but proud.
Law 4 which deals with players’ equipment:“A player must not ..wear any equipment that is dangerous to himself or another player (including any kind of jewellery)……..
In the event of an infringement of this Law….the player is only permitted to re-enter the field of play when the ball is out of play”.
So, although I was hurling abuse at him about this, and he got lots of other things wrong, he was actually correct in this instance.
you and me both
talking point on MOTD tonight or just the usual ‘and last but no means least Wigan (2 mins duration)’; actually, MOTD will probably have it as ‘highlight’ of the match ?
I recall how the warming up and substitution (entering the field of play) of C Adam (new signing)was a MOTD highlight at the Stoke game.

Lacked quality in the final third -same old story yet again!you forgot the other bit …. switched off defensively once again for the goal (‘defensive intensity’, RM).
A poor cross from Gibbs, ball salvaged by Arsenal (‘the other team’ once again), one-two and thanks very much tackle from behind .. penalty.
Same old, same old …..
That aside, defensively we were pretty solid. Shame, ‘cos a first clean sheet since … Southampton (?) would have been quite an achievement all things considered.
Crackin’ piece of play from Di Santo in the lead up to Kone’s first half miss. AK, has to do better – put the thing away !!
Also has to play Ronnie Stam in during the first 15 as opposed to taking more ambitious shooting opportunity himself. Poor decision-making.
God only knows for Mr Moss was up to during the 5-10 minute passage of play that Di Santo was stood on the touchline. At one point, Di Santo seemed to turn his back on play, doubtful he’d ever get back on !
Absolute feckin idiot
Can’t help but feel we’ve contributed once again to our own downfall today. Game was there to be won. We had our moments.
Just don’t seem to be ‘switched on’ at both ends when it matters.

The boot room: It’s not defending, it’s tag wrestling! Fellaini headbutt was wrong but sly Shawcross has no defence

ShareWhat Marouane Fellaini did to Ryan Shawcross last weekend was wrong – there is no place for headbutts on a football pitch. Everton manager David Moyes was quick to make that point, too.
Fellaini’s reaction was that of frustration, a retaliation to almost an hour of being manhandled by the Stoke centre back at every set-piece. He felt Shawcross was cheating time after time and so the anger built up. It wasn’t right but something needs to be done about the style in which Shawcross marks people.
It’s not defending, it’s tag wrestling. He’s not bothered about the ball, just the man
I have been watching Shawcross for long enough to know he’s been regularly grabbing attackers, putting both arms around them like a bear hug.
He’s not alone in doing this in the Premier League but he’s the best at it, disguising his clear fouling from the referee. He collars his opponents, targeting people like Fellaini who are so good in the air. He does it exceptionally well but he oversteps the mark.
As a defender you always need to have some contact with the man you are marking at set-pieces but there are boundaries.Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2251907/Martin-Keowns-boot-room-Marouane-Fellaini-headbutt-wrong-sly-Ryan-Shawcross-defence.html#ixzz2FmARo100
Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on FacebookGood article Martin, well said – from a defender and all.. But you’re a week late. Keep up with Cockney Latics ….. at the cutting edge on all (OK then …most) matters Latics /football !

Good job!
THAT spirit much needed in the next four up.
Let the season start…NOW
So we have plenty of folk moaning about lack of fire power and word has it that we may be getting this fella on loan and not one person has an opinion on the rumour ? Well he cant be any worse than what we are going to be left with not that the chap leaving us for a while has been up to much lately !Any chance of getting the other South American (‘little pea …’) ?
Then we might be cooking on gas !
Even then, he’d be hard pushed to have a ‘points impact’.
Pundit Lawrenson calls us ‘inconsistent’ WRONG. We are consistently good for two goals a game (place yer bets). Week in, week out … ‘a lack of defensive intensity’ (R Martinez), 2 more poor goals conceded Saturday.
Irrespective of back 3 playing. Set-pieces, defending crosses etc. our achilles heel. One consistent thread – Alcaraz missing. Hopefully, he can get back ASAP …. can’t be any worse with !!!! To have had him missing for half the season has cost us big time, I feel.Expecting us to score 3 to win, when we have only 3 players in double figures (Di Santo, Kone, Gomez (1 game), McCarthy (1 game)),effectively 2 ‘strikers’ (1 when Kone’s gone) .. not going to happen.
Way forward in short-term: ‘The Norwich way (‘Solution’)’
Previously shipping goals for fun, ‘back to basics’ approach (stop conceding goals). Last 9 – W5 D4. Take a look at the stats – they ain’t scored a bagful in any game (often 1), but by god have they been mean. Hughton obviously knows a thing or two about defence.
In contrast, we don’t seem to learn. If we’re honest about it, the fact that RM talks about a lack of ‘defensive intensity’ practically week in, week out is very disappointing; a disgrace not to put too finer point on it.
Jr has done nothing since leaving, we don’t have the money to get a proven goalscorer, if we did they probably wouldn’t come, since benson went we don’t have the nouse to scout a prospect. That’s the top and bottom of it.
The joys of being a latics fan, oh for a decent cup run, oh never mind.
J.D. my point is we have had the money. The money we have spent on this lot in 6 years???( has anyone the figures?) We could have bought Lionel Messi. On the other hand you’ve got to ask yourself “Are they all Useless” or is it the way we play????
In a previous spat I cant be arsed looking back for we had spent £89 million since enterimg the Prem and recouped £91 million hardly enough to recruit Messi
If those figures are correct. Where has all the Sky and TV money gone??? seeing as on an earlier post, someone said that the wage bill was £27 million.
Are you seriously asking this? This has been done to death almost every year since 2004.
In 2010 the wage-bill was £39 million and the club’s turnover – including Sky TV money was £43 million. Therefore, 90% of money coming into the club went on players’ salaries.
Have a read of this. It explains it in layman’s terms.

I’m sure JPC01 could give you a more thorough explanation, but the gist of it is: we have no money.
Sorry to disappoint. No can do. Excellent article. Fascinating insight. Thanks.
… he plays in McCarthy for the equaliser, Saturday (QPR).
Reading – goal assist (part played in 2 goals), etc. etc.
Stop letting facts get in the way of a good slagging off.
how remiss of me ….that bloody idiot Gomez etc. etc. (joke)
