bring him back in better than the plank we have now
Oh I see……
I agree
Placed across the canal he could serve as a bigger ‘great big plank’ to ease the congestion after a match.
I would walk over his back….with thousands of other real Wigan Supporters…..any day
Maybe he could then be broken down for groundbait…..see Arky for this.

Apparently Bob is willing to pay £1.2m for his services in the transfer window. Hope not IMO he has never looked like a Premiership player and is not exactly shining at Ipswich.Where did this little ‘snippet’ come from then?
Ah, but the point is people have posted opinions i.e against Martinez on here and then have been shouted down and dismissed by the same old people and in turn this puts them off posting again.
Its the way in which certain people disagree, in that any negative will not be tolerated here. If thats the case then whats the point in having a message board if people can’t vent and then discuss without being labelled a darksider?
I’m a realistic fella but if i feel we are being let down as fans on occasions why can i not state this without a barrage of abuse in return.
That said i have been quite impressed with the team lately and hope Sunderland was just a blip and we can get back to winning ways soon.
I don’t know how old you are but it seems to me that you went to a school that has banned all forms of competition – like sports day for instance – for fear of it damaging those sensitive souls who can’t handle failure.
Unfortunately the big bad world ain’t like that and you have to learn to fight your corner. The people who post on here are, by and large, stubbornly opinionated. They believe they are right and everyone else who doesn’t agree with their view is wrong. Therefore it should come as no surprise to find your opinions being ridiculed, with levels of abuse thrown in, if you are not capable of arguing your point.
This board is administered and moderated and if anything gets out of hand, posts get deleted and people get banned.

The thing about waiting for people to hang themselves….. Number nine busses and all that….
Nothing for ages – then all of a sudden …….
……..two come along together.
Dear oh dear……and you know what I mean.
No ‘winky’ ‘smiley’ thing here……..
No wonder people don’t read ‘other’ or ‘alternative’ boards….
We are two point from safety. Had Bolton lost tonight, we’d be two points from safety. We are still in the bottom three, and tonight’s result matters not, other than to make the league table look a little less pretty.
I agree
Swansea have 23 points and sit in 12th position. Nothing is certain – it never has been.
This, at the time (look at ManU and Everton tonight) is still a tight league. To quote ‘Commander Sam Shore’
“Anything can happen in the next half season”
or was that hour….whatever! ;)
And to be fair that is being very fair ;) :P
Nobody is going to be liked by everybody and people will annoy other people with differing views e.t.c but the blatant wind up merchants are just pointless. In the last 5 years or so i have seen this board gradually turning into one infiltrated by kids. Well i was when i first started posting, That was about 9 years ago, But i was mature about what i was saying. Just getting my views across like i do now.
There are certain posters on here – and we all know who we are – who are capable of having an argument/debate that sometimes descends into a bit of heated banter, and that’s fine. It can’t be any coincidence, however, that most of the obviously intelligent posters all seem to share similar views.
There are also, of course, some totally pointless posters who deserve all the abuse they get, even though they should probably simply be ignored – and I know I am a major culprit by not ignoring them.
As someone else said earlier, the class of wind-up merchant has also dropped dramatically. Even Arky has resorted to multi-posting under his own name as a fishing bore ;)
But that said Haker (or Maker, Faker, whatever your name is, I can’t be bothered to look back up the thread?) feel free to come back at any time and drag the quality back up to Beano standard or better.
But to be fair Griff……..
Mitty has posted on this board over the years under several guises – he knows the score – ;)
rugby league/union its all the same to me, its a sport not widely followed in these parts. We are currently below our neighbours up the road who in recent times have been more successful than us in terms of league position. They havent won a trophy for a lot longer than us though i might add.
Our attendances at roker park would average 25k during the 90’s. Prior to that there would be 40-50k in the ground before safety measures were introduced following the horrible hilsborough disaster.Decent turn out considering our neighbours were sat second in the league at the time and a lot of young un’s in the middle grounds chose newcastle because of this.
Also, Our debts are a loan from the chairman which he will only want repaying upon sale of the club. We have actually recovered more in transfer fees and our wage bill has reduced dramatically so we are in a healthy position for the financial fair play rules coming in.
As for not qualifying for europe, 4 weeks ago i would have said we had no chance but with the new manager and never say die spirit i think MON will have a real go for this next season, because due to the mess bruce left us in i think theres too many points to claw back this season to do this.
I come on here with the intention of trying to be neutral and complimentary of your performance last night. The other comments are opinions which i hope you dont take to heart, just feel that you have done amazing going through all the divisions and stopping up season in and season out but theres nothing more you offer to the league. sorry just my opinion!
Now first of all…..if not widely followed in your parts then why use an “egg chasing” analogy (as stated in a later post) – one normally reserved/used here in Wigan. Further, your second point about recovering more in transfer fees etc is pure fabrication……
according to this (Link) Sunderland spent(between 2006 and 2011) –
£146.9 million
and received (in that time) –
£84.25 million
Call me old fashioned…but that’s a loss of about £63 million (ish).
Now then a real fan would have known that already;………………….. a troll however…. ;)
The problem with our vaguely saleable players (as I have started to call them) is that they are probably nowhere near the top of any other club’s wish list this January. Therefore, the chances of them being signed much before the end of the window, ie when clubs start to panic, are fairly slim, giving us even less chance of bringing in decent replacements. At the same time, the longer January goes on without them signing new contracts, the more the club will, and should, be keen to sell. There’s an argument that says you should keep them and let them go for nothing in the summer in the hope that them staying improves our chances of staying in the league. It’s a financial risk, and not one that Whelan is famous for taking. Tough one for the club’s management to deal with.
Still, that’s what they get paid for. Our job is simply to throw ill-informed bricks at them ;)
Sorry Griff…but there is nothing vagueabout it/them (no need to try and ‘coin’ a phrase). They either ‘sign on’ or they go…..business is business. Further, in this day and age, there is no argument that says we should keep them and let them go for nothing in the summer (regardless)….potential financial suicide not risk.
If the ‘management’ (senior and/or playing) are waiting to see what points we pick up in the next few games before deciding on what playing staff we have will turn us into a ‘Russian Roulette’ team…
oops – coined a phrase there. ;)
I thought McManaman was going to come back as the new shining light?Interesting point that GL as he played the last 15 minutes for Blackpool against Middlesbrough the other night.
Anyone know what’s going on with the fella?
I’ll add my two-penn’orth about this.
I’ve got a nasty attack of man flu at the moment (I know – terrible it is) so decided against going to the game yesterday and watched online. The best reliable stream I could get was with a Spanish commentary so I stuck with that.
The relevance of that trivia is that I watched it not surrounded by people leaping up giving their opinions, and not listening to commentators’ views. No matter what we may think of ourselves formulating opinions we are greatly influenced by others around us.
And I didn’t see an atrocious referee performance. Yes – on seeing the replays the free-kick leading to their goal didn’t appear correct – but it wasn’t so bizarre as some decicions we have seen. Even if we concede a free kick you have to say it was a well-taken goal.
We lost because we faff about in midfield. We were building all very pretty stuff, a joy to behold, in the first two thirds, but any nearer goal we go to pieces. We lost due to our own inability to score or to defend. If points were given for passes completed we would be in the Champions League. But they’re not and we aren’t.
Blame the referee as much as you like – I blame the players.
I may disagree with you on several levels, but I believe you Sir are 100% correct with your diagnosis (of the game, not man-flu!!!)
Although I don’t believe the brylcreem boy to be correct in anything……….I do believe Mr Garswood that you make some valid points in what you say, however,…
I would have changed the “faff” to “faffed” because generally – in the past few games prior to this one – we didn’t Faff. It was down to, in my opinion, team tinkering. I know Martinez has come and said ‘a game too far’ etc, he had ample opportunity of resting senior players at the Swindon Game. Not starting Momo and Moses was naive to say the least. Ben Watson was the most culpable of faffing in midfield as he did not run at the opposition with the ball preferring, instead to hold the ball up, thus slowing the game and halting any attacking wing play….other players did not seem confident that any run made would be met by a ‘cutting’ pass – however, with Momo attacking in midfield, last third play was always inevitable. Albert, and I do rate him, did bring a bit of pace on the wing but lacked that ‘game’ experience to be confident on the ball. Had Momo and Moses started, I believe there would have been more chances that could have been taken by more confident players and had we stuck a couple away then give Watson and Crusat 20 mins game time at the end if rest was indeed needed.
Hey ho!…..onwards and upwards eh!
Apparently he is the first palyer to ever come off the bench to score a penalty with his first kick.
He also bags the fastest goal scored by a substitute.John Aldridge replaced Peter Beardsley to come on and score a penalty in the 9-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace in September 1989.
He was signing for Real Sociedad the very next day so Dalglish brought him on to take the penalty for sentimental sake.
Not sure if that’s the only other one.
Sorry Jay.
Yes but John Aldridge always did that Liddelesque shimmy before striking the ball, that may have added that little bit of extra time after the refs whistle was blown.
Ben might still be in the record books. :P
I refer the honourable gentleman to Mr Garswoods reply earlier…….time starts/ball is in play…… when ball is kicked.
We now need to see who kicked it the fastest/hardest…….
M Oliver…….
I’m sure he won’t go hiding at the Brit when a big decision has to be made in a split second.
He is a very Hardy character I believe.
…but if he sends anyone off there will be…Another fine mess
No need to apologise though – I make allowances for retards who dont look before they leap.Maybe you should check the mirror then more often………..

Thank fook you are a clerk, and deal on a daily basis with allowances, and not on the front-line.
errrrm!…………Retard.
In the 70s we got quiet a few scousers in – and they’re still there to be honest.
Your point being….? ;)
There is no point GL, it’s just a statement of fact. Just like there aren’t that many Mancs in Hindley, is also a statement of fact.
Never mind Mr Garswood………I got it (as you know, I like to keep up with what people have said in the past – ;) )
You’re right, it is…I don’t want to see anybody posting on here that we should never have been relegated by a bad refereeing decision. It’s all part of the game. ;)You bad ass!!!!! ;)
I suppose when it comes to it……we will stay up.
……regardless of the referees.
;)
