….Says, for the last 2 years he has been looking for a team that plays football.
Little did he know that the team he was playing in actually played football, that was until he go hold of the ball in midfield. :ugeek:

Who cares.. He doesnt play for us anymore… and would have been welcomed back here.
I care……….

because he spent two f£ckin years moaning about it, and talking his agent up, instead of playing it. Now he’s at that ‘fictitious’ big club he sought so much (bless him – be careful what you wish for Mr Schlong). The only way I would have welcomed him back was with a f£ckin Rampant Rabbit stuffed where the sun don’t shine. He had ‘made his bed’ – too many times – and got his wish in the end…… Massive club that WBA (in the great scheme of things). Now if you are talking about Richard Kingson going to Blackpool – you cannot fault him either – he too has great ambition by signing for a ‘big’ team………

………bigger than the Black Country idiots in my humble opinion.

Well Griff; if indeed Scharner said last May – I’m leaving Wigan with the intention of seeking a more established or tradional club then I would concede, however, somehow that’s not quite how it came out – I stand by what I say.

We’ll agree to disagree then chap. ;)

My point is one thay you yourself have made, ie what is a big club, a question that no-one has ever satisfactorily answered, IMO.

If you took a straw poll of say, 1000 neutral football fans nationwide, and asked them to list football clubs in terms of “bigness” without specifying any citeria, I bet Wigan would come very low down those rankings compared to West Brom, Newcastle and Leeds.

It’s a very subjective thing.
Indeed….and as I said earlier “Interpretation and Semantics” is how this thread was being read/written.

You can’t have it both ways Griff….either stick to “change the phrase “big” club for “traditional” or “established” club and I’m more right” or convince us otherwise.

Like you say it’s down to opinion….

………….there are those on here who are allodoxaphobics.

Hey Ho!….bored with this topic now – it’s going nowhere (IMO)

Thanks for that ‘potted’ history Dave, stuff I already knew from ‘researching’ the topic on the web – I’m better informed but none the wiser. It also only goes to confirm what I said earlier that they are a shYtty little team in the backwater of the Midlands.

How on earth does “in the 70’s and 80’s they had an exciting team” strengthen your opinion.

Take whatever measure of a “big club” you want, West Brom is a bigger club than Wigan, as are Leeds and Newcastle as mentioned in other threads.

It’s all well and good saying what have they done in the last 20 years, but at least they did something in the 40, 50, 60 years before that.

Interpretation and semantics. When Scharner ‘finally’ left us (it took him almost two years) his talk was for a dream move to Liverpool, Everton was mentioned as was Aston Villa – his own idea was to move to a ‘bigger club’ with potential to win silverware and possibly European football. This silly ‘c0ck measuring’ competition between Latics and WBA is laughable.

If Scharner was offered a contract with Leeds can anyone here honestly say or believe that’s what his intention was when he decided to move (it’s still a ‘bigger’ club)

No – thought not.

………………….and by the way what exactly have WBA achieved in the past 40, 50 years or so – a quick scan of their history actually shows them up to be the ‘massive’ team they believe they are – only in their deluded Black Country little minds.

Sharner’s ambition was to move on to a ‘bigger’ club that has more potential than we could offer – WBA is hardly that.

No offence Micky, and I’m not after a bite here.

But Albion ARE a bigger club than Latics.

Actually, I’ve always liked them as a club.

Offence? None taken.

ARE a bigger club? Do me a f£ckin favour mate. They may have been around for a bit longer than we have (but then again who hasn’t?) and that’s all they have.

Recent time in premiership?

Personally I cannot stand the Black Country t0ssers with their misplaced arrogance.

Maybe others have blissfully passed me by, but until a couple of days ago the only “rival” fan I’d noticed on here since Rivals was IBG (and maybe Richard Cheeseman, though I think they are one and the same).

Then in the space of as many days who should appear? 2 “rival” fans, both with similar names – brumifan/leedsfan – and with similar types of posts/language.

the daily mirror are reporting that birmingham were also upset at something nzogbia posted on the internet regarding the proposed move.

if im not mistaken didnt nzogbia claim he didnt want to go to birmingham when first approached in may.

Now I’ve been going to the cinema for ……ohh! well over 70 years now (I knew it when it was the ‘talkies’ – you know). I’ve seen them all – actors have come and gone (it were only one and a tanner back then you know) and I’ve watched some greats (I’ve see Ben Hur so often I could star in it) – always fancied myself as a bit of a ‘Roger Ebert’ so I was chuffed to monkeys when Mrs Micky suggested we go t’pictures and see a new one……..so off we traipsed. Sarnies for t’interval, scarves an’ all (it was cold in town the other night). Got our tickets for ‘The A Team’ – oh how I used to love the high jinks of these fella’s in their 80’s series – and settled down for a nights entertainment.

Well I was blown away, what an affront to the film industry, what complete and utter gash – I’ve never seen such cr@p in such a short period of time and I was determined to get justice; and in a divine moment, as we were leaving, I saw him…….the cinema manager.

“Oi!….you! What the hell was that gash? You ought to be ashamed of yourself showing that sh !t to the paying public…..I’ve never been so insulted in all my life”
“I’m sorry sir…..but what exactly is the problem?”
“It’s that pile of cack I’ve just been unfortunate to witness – I’ll never get my sanity back. Mrs Micky will need to see her ‘doctor’ again – what on earth were you thinking by showing that – I want my money back”
“You paid a fiver and got in “two for one” – it’s Orange Wednesday – what did you expect Dino de Laurentis? Now F£ck Off you miserable old gits”

Mrs Micky is taking me to see ‘The Expendables’ next week………it’s got to be better than the last one. I’d forgotten how much I really used to like going………. seeing the bad films as well as the Oscar winners, might buy some popcorn – make a night of it.

Its not like defenders cost a lot, we should go out and someone with a brain when we sell Zog. On a plus side, I have never seen Caldwell but he couldn’t be any worst than our current back line.

I’ll tell you what Amigo…not far off the mark by trying to sign someone with a brain – how about this fella….

Mikaël Silvestre

Free agent at the moment – only a couple of years older than SC, can play at left back, I know his wages might be a problem but he’s free so could pay a little more than our cap – and we’d only need him for a year. Would bring that much needed ‘premiership experience’ to the defence (could even do a little ‘coaching’ if pressed).

Radical thought is what we need.

Figgy was kn@ckerd……..didn’t really recover from his ‘searching’ run and saw the ‘tackle’ as a way out of the game. What’s the betting…”it’s nothing serious….out for a week…….see him again soon…………..sold”.

No heart – no fitness (there are a few in this category)

……as said in a previous thread; it would appear that we now have our very own ‘poor mans’ Galacticos. We now need them to play as a team.

I still saw enough to convince me that we are good enough to stay in this league……………………
