Perhaps there is a reason why Roberto plays a right footer on the left and a left footer on the right. If we swap them over and crosses rain in, then who is going to get on the end of them ? – Heskey has gone remember. I rate Hugo but I don’t see him as Wigan’s answer to Kevin Davies, his undoubted skill comes to the fore when the ball is on the floor.

If we play Koumas and N’Zogbia on the “wrong wings” so to speak then they are a goal threat when they cut inside. If we only play “one up” then we need more goal threats and this is the way to do it. These three are then supplemented by Gomez and Diame

This is a different way of playing – some people can’t seem to get 4-4-2 and a big target man out of their heads. We are set up to play with the ball on the floor.

To continue the theme – you are a “half empty glass man” who has just had it knocked over. Can I suggest a bottle full of prozac before you depress us all?

I have the same in ES5 – I think Dave sits behind me. Never hear anything positive, does not cheer or chant but jesus, he can’t half moan when a pass goes astray.

I have no idea what you’re moaning about

We’ve just shipped out 2 centre mids… so I dunno why you’re complaining that we’re bringing another in.
The lad is an integral part of his national team.
He’s played at the top level of French football for the most of his career.
He’s been a week in, week out starter for 2 of France’s biggest teams in PSG and Marseille and played a big part in PSG’s 2004 season when they finished 2nd.
Note that this was his first season playing with PSG and the fact he was never out of a team who finished 2nd says something..
We’d be getting a player of high quality for FREE.
AND HE’S STILL ONLY 26.

Yet the typical negative Wiganers still moan… fook a doodle do

Good post lewligan but you may as well save your breath, bobbyswigan doesn’t let the facts get in the way of a good moan.

He must be a wind-up because no one is as stupid and twisted as he seems to be, apart from you know who perhaps.

Great posts.

I was contemplating suicide reading all the doom and gloom merchants. Cheered me up no end.

My cup runneth over !!!

Only an idiot would feel the need to ask this question.

It would take an even bigger idiot to answer “against”.

It would take an imbecile to ask me to explain why.

FFS have you never had a setback in your life before? Just the man to have beside you in battle – “WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!”

“It would take an imbecile to ask me to explain why.” ???????

What an utter prop shaft !

Analytical as ever in fact no more than I would expect from a Middle Englander like yourself. I did state quite clearly that if you thought this post was pointless then simply ignore it. What part of IGNORE THIS POST do you not understand ? As for the against quip you inanely added. Everybody is entitled to an opinion and entitled to give their opinion on a forum. I suggest you get your Collins Concise ( The one you use to cheat at crosswords with ) and look up the word FORUM ! I await your feeble attempt to belittle and condescend !
You are quite right when you say everyone is entitled to an opinion but …. how many times have you got to give it?

You, loudmouth, Bobbyswigan and Dave really need to change the bloody record.

I have not posted on Cockneylatic for about 8 years but used to be a regular. Today I am prouder than ever to be a Latics fan and here’s why:

1. We are playing in the top league in Europe. Never forget that. In the traditional pecking order we would be lower league 1 at best. We are fighting above our weight as a club so be proud of that.

2. We held our own against one of the best clubs in Europe for 60 minutes. Ok we collapsed after that, but at least we tried to take the game to them.

3. We have 3 points. Looking at the first 3 fixtures we all would have settled for 3 points at this stage.

4. I am proud to have a forward thinking and attacking manager like Martinez in charge. His methods and the fact we have so many new players will take time to gel.

To the people around me today whinging … never forget where we came from … it might get worse before it gets better but Martinez will get it right.

p.s to the person sat in east stand G195, I meant what I said … stop moaning you old git

Excellent post, this is the beginning of a new chapter in our history. I am fascinated where the revolution in playing style will take us. I rather enjoyed the first hour on Saturday and I will continue to enjoy my football. If the worst happens and we are relegated then so what, we have been there before. Nothing will make me hurl abuse at Roberto Martinez even if he does get it wrong.

To the fans who are grinding their teeth for the whole 90 minutes I say “lighten up” there are more important things in life than a football match.

PS I don’t sit in G195 although I have a similar bloody negative parrot on my shoulder as well.

Has it ever crossed anyone’s mind that the rugby fans who also supported Wigan Athletic are not coming any more?

Many people I know are expressing these sentiments to me after the way they have been treated by Dave Whelan. I know Horc and his friends are blinded to the fact that we need every fan we can get but we must face facts.

We can’t have it both ways, If we alienate the majority of potential support in Wigan (yes I know it is unpalatable) we can’t complain about low crowds.

Over to you Mr Horc for one of your pathetic obsessed rants.

“Actually it was “This report of my Death was an exaggeration”…….always the bloody pedant me (you assumed that people were ar*sed that you had actually ‘ahem’ passed over)………(insert inane smilie here)

However, good to see you again Mr Owd, an orator from the ‘old’ school. Moreover, I agree that there is change within the team and the style that we play (and that does indeed take time) but……the risk you talked about earlier should have been assessed (come on you are an educated person….you’ve written a bit!) and this change has come too soon for our players. So let’s peel this back a little…………regardless of salary, if you change too quickly – expect mistakes.

ps. how’s the ‘verbose’ one?

Kindest Regards”

Pedant or Googler Mickey ?

If you drew on your literary memory then I bow to your superior wisdom. If you googled to be a smart arse then you succeeded.

PS You are indeed correct either way.

I wasn#t responding to you it was aimed at Springfield blue

Please accept my unreserved apologies thirtyone.

Please disregard everything I have said, the penny has just dropped regarding the identity of Springfield Blue. It is a long lost adversary with a different username. The very one that taught Dave from Skelm all about reality. If I had known I would have stayed in retirement.

As previously stated, there are big risks associated with the radical change in playing style. We need to be patient and support the club or else we could very well make the transition impossible. I for one would not like us to play like Stoke although I would be the first to admit that it would make survival easier.

Loudmouthblue made a valid point elsewhere about our play being too slow and laboured on tuesday. I put this down to playing in an as yet unfamiliar way and not having a full squad of players with the required technical ability to play this way.

But, as Northern Soul aficionados would say “Keep the Faith” and all will be well.

PS Apologies for ranting but the pain was just about subsiding when I read all the garbage from the prophets of doom. They made me feel even worse.

Well said Owd Git!! Some of the remarks on here beggars belief.

Time that those who don’t want to face the truth decided to go elsewhere. Whelan is running the club on a shoestring budget and look at the problems we’ve got, (sells Cattermole after saying he is going nowhere), and fans who wont wake up and recognise the danger signs. ..
I have met you life-long fans before – went to first game in 1959 because your dad was baby sitting and couldn’t find anyone to dump you with. Second game was when we entered the league, third game when we got promoted to premier league and then occasionally when we played the “really big teams”…….. hey presto been a supporter for fifty years.

Sorry to be a cyber-bully thirtyoneyears but I also feel pain when someone kicks Roberto in the teeth. (PS I wasn’t particularly referring to you because i didn’t read all the garbage posted but if the cap fits ………… )

Come on Springfield Blue – you have been online quite a while now. Can’t you think of a reply, or am I bang on with my assessment of you ?
