From what Mr Soundbite said 8 months ago this site really does make him look silly ! He will back the manager money wise IF we get into Europe ?? That is like saying ” I will give you a grand if you can clear that 10ft wall from a standing jump ! ” Speculate to accumulate obviously not one of his beliefs !

How much money has Abramovitch given to Chelsea ?
How much money has Glazer given to Manchester United ?
How much money have the Gillette and Hanks given to Liverpool ?
How much money did Gaydamak give to Portsmouth ?

For those who do not reside in the real world, the answer is bugger all, zilch, nil, zero, sweet FA. The only money all these clubs have received is by way of LOANS. This means that the clubs are in debt and will not only have to pay the money back, they will have to pay large amounts of interest as well.

This is one of the main reasons that Portsmouth are in such a predicament now – Gaydamak has left the club and wants all his money back !!! All the money spent in Harry’s wheeling and dealing was on borrowed money and now the chickens have come home to roost.

Do we want the same at Wigan ? I think not.

PS I think I also need to explain the term refinancing to some people as well – it means that further loans have been taken out (usually at extortionate rates of interest) to keep the club (eg Liverpool) afloat.

In Summary: Ignore the ungrateful village idiots Mr Whelan and carry on letting us live a dream that we can afford.

Of course there is… Free papers are a complete waste of time ! Like I said maybe 5% of recipients read them END OF !

Do you actually read threads or do you just like hearing the sound of your own typing?

in reply to: The Standish Courier #15125
I dont mean to rain on your parade old sage one but did you know that nobody reads free papers they are wasting their time printing them ! Well maybe about 5% read them !

Is there an actual point to your post?

in reply to: The Standish Courier #15045
Do anyone else get this free paper delivered (I suppose the question is really, do you live in Standish)? If you do, have a look at the latest issue.

I seems as though the sport of Association Football is not played in the Standish or broader Wigan area. The main sports headline is about Radlinski’s new role at the Warriors. Then there are pieces on a charity do attended by several ex-Wigan RL players, reports on the recent St Pats, Shevy Sharks, St Judes, Rose Bridge, Wigan RU, Orrell RU, and Aspull RU games. There’s a junior RL section, a piece about Wigan athletics, one about table tennis, and photos of the local swimmers and Wigan Sailing club.

Not a single line, or merest of mentions of football – and that includes the professional and amateur leagues.

If you thought there was a bias in the local media, then this is the most concrete evidence yet. This publication does usually only provide the SW household with above average hamster bedding, but surely there are more people interested in reading about local amateur football teams that seeing photos of Wigan Sailing Club (A sailing club? It’s Scotsman’s Flash for Christ’s sake. Is the Sydney to Hobart going to be renamed the Poolstock to Ince Moss?).

    P for poor.

These local papers are desperate for contributions and, like Cockney Latic, are only too willing to print articles by enthusiastic amateurs.

Perhaps followers of the sports you mention spend their time being constructive and trying to “spread the word”. I know that Wigan Sailing Club is run by people who selflessly give their time, free of charge, to help many people in Wigan who are less fortunate than themselves.

Please engage brain in future before you make such stupid comments. If you spent a little less time moaning and a little more contributing to your local community, you might even find the time to write them yourself !!

Ive got to dissagree with merson about their goalies injury,
IMO he came out to get the ball but realised he wouldn’t get to it and changed his mind then went over on his ankle mhen he tried to backtrack.
and roddy would still have scored without the injury. it was down solely to jensens bad decision making.

Agreed – I think we will find that his “injury” is more embarrassment than twisted ankle. Really dodgy keeper in my opinion.

I cant even beieve what i am reading. Scotland is NOT good enough.. He isnt as good as Heskey so people should stop trying to compare them. He hardly ran them ragged because he DIDNT RUN! He got the ball at his feet and did elephant all attacking wise. The one good turn he did was when their defender touched it so it fell to Scotland as he was turning. You cant start 1 striker if your going to play Scotland as he wont score, that is a lot of the reason we Didn’t beat City, Probably Hull aswell, We need 4-4-2 or the formation we are using now needs Rodallega in place of scotland, But whichever we use, it should not involve Scotland

Yeah right ………….. perhaps you should attend training sessions to sort Bob out

    in reply to: Gomez #10863
I said after the Wolves game that Gomez just aint good enough,

I got a bit of stick at the time, seems people are know agreeing with me.

Like I said before,Scharner is twice the player.

Perhaps some people are just as perceptive as you are but prefer to support their team rather than knock it. The simple fact of the matter is that Scharner is stronger on the ball, contributes greatly to our attack (It was his flick-on which led to our goal on Sunday) and is also really valuable defending set pieces.

Get the idea – glass half full and all that ?

in reply to: The game today #10859
Actually Gomez was dropped to accommodate Scharner. Scotland came in at Koumas’ expense.

When will people realise that Bob plays 4-5-1, and with this current line up he’s not doing too bad. Why , after beating CFC and nearly beating City would we want to radically change the formation.

We have 3 hard working centre mids , who will be a match for any Prem midfield , certainly in the workrate department. On Sunday I also thought Zog had his best game ever for us. Playing on the right allows him to keep cutting in on goal ,and generally providing support for Scotland. Stick him back on the left and he’ll be hogging the touchline and going nowhere.

Oh and finally , Scotland was awesome on Sunday.

Spot on analysis – some people just can’t seem to get their head around Bob’s style of play. I for one quite enjoy our new formation and don’t wish to return to hoofing it.

These same people probably want to drop Heskey from the England team as well even though we are the highest qualifying scorers ( I think) and have won nine out of ten.

If it aint broke why fix it ?

in reply to: Whelan’s book…The Cornflake book review Part I #10414

This is a great read and explains everything about the man. It is a book that should be read by every Wiganer, Latics supporter and Wigan Warriors supporter.

It lays to rest all the myths and gives him an opportunity to give his version of some really historic events about Wigan Athletic, Wigan Rugby and his business interests. It also gives an insight into why he has been so successful in life.

    Couldn’t put it down.

in reply to: Most significant result ever ….. I think #9990
Fantastic result, game and performance. Most significant result though I disagree. The day we beat Reading to join the prem will live forever in the history books. Wigan Athletic promoted to the premier league is more significant than beating Chelsea.

Some really bad teams have been promoted to the Premier League and being honest the Wigan Athletic team that brought us up weren’t all that good in the order of things. The reason i said it was the most significant result rather than most important result is because the performance was on a level that I have never witnessed before at any Latics match.

Our level of performance against one of the best teams in the world has never been matched by any previous Latics team.

fact is, i am right, and about 96% of others are deluded.

    we’ll see…………..

oh, and do you not think i get amusement from stirring people up? course i do. I’m the Robbie Savage of cockney latic. the few people on here who have met, spoke, or contacted me, actually know the score. they know i laugh my moobs off when people respond to me. it’ hilarious.

you all think that you know best. Your opinion, like mine, is worth jack.

You sound like a comedian who has to explain all his jokes Dave.

in reply to: Reckon Wengers Worrled? lol #8917
I hope Bob gets a grip because hes starting to sound quite embaressing. I can just see Arsene Wenger laying on extra training after reading this.

Not nearly as embarrassing as your spelling young fellow.

in reply to: People Are Getting Cocky #8715
Because we won on Saturday, I noticed a load of smirking and people getting all cocky again. Doesn’t take much, does it? Let’s have it right, West Ham were below par, and we, although slightly improved, were not much better.

The match was scrappy and could have gone either way. If they’d scored first, they’d have won. Yes, I think we had improvement in our performance, but I was still alarmed at people getting cocky about it.

For Christ’s sake, calm down, and let’s not go over the top!

Arsenal and Chelsea next, and I’ll be very surprised if we get anything from either game. Our next chance of points is against Hull, and then after that we have City.

I suggest people don’t get carried away, just yet. As if and when we are getting beat, it won’t be taken as hard.

I have not witnessed any smirking or read any posts where people have got carried away. All I have seen and heard is the silent, reasonable majority telling people such as yourself to “stop bloody moaning”

    Regards

    Git
