Yes, Uwe has been watching Roberto!
Wigan manager Uwe Rosler has revealed he masterminded Manchester City’s downfall in the FA Cup by copying Roberto Martinez’s tactics from last year’s final.
Martinez selected a 3-4-3 formation when Wigan beat City in the 2013 FA Cup final and Rosler, who normally picks a four-man defence, went to three at the back as he borrowed from the blueprint his predecessor used in both the Wembley showpiece and a 1-0 league defeat at the Etihad Stadium.
Former City striker Rosler explained: “I studied Roberto’s tactics from when he won the FA Cup. He put out a very good gameplan. I saw the league game here where Roberto’s team played periods of the game to perfection.
“I tried to replicate it. I felt our only chance was keeping the ball in attacking areas. If we looked to defend we would have no chance.”

Thank you, Roberto!
We are playing well, but so are Leicester and Burnley.
If we’re going to go straight up, we will have to rely on Leicester and Burnley dropping a lot of points, and Derby and QPR dropping some too.
That’s asking a great deal.
Some people do talk rubbish about football, don’t they?
FA Cup Winners – we know what we are!
Arsenal could certainly have had an easier draw.
Using Burnley as a target team to finish above for automatic promotion, how does this sound….Burnley don’t beat Blackburn on Sunday as they haven’t beaten them in like 30 odd years, so let’s assume a draw. That would put them 15pts clear of us but we would have 2 games in hand. Let’s assume that due to our current purple patch that we win those 2 games in hand, that would close the gap to just 9pts and we have to go to their place yet. Now what if we were to beat them at theirs? 6pts the gap ! How would you feel then with 11 to play ? Think about it ! Be positive !Sorry, Phil, but Burnley beat Blackburn for the first time since 1979.
Burnley may be further out of reach but it wasn’t a bad weekend for Wigan in the Championship.
Ipswich and Blackburn lost, while Brighton and Reading got just a point each.
A point on Wednesday will be enough to take Wigan into the top six. A win will put them level on points with Forest.
Boyce had a wonderful game.
He and Ramis still looked like Premier League players even against City’s famed forwards.
No.
The 2015 winners of the Europa League will go into the Champions League.
I love you all!
Enjoy yourselves tonight!
Nothing can stand in our way!
Are we sitting in the seats or standing in the stands this afternoon?
Tha knows if we win,We will get Arsenal next round? If City win,bet they dont get Arsenal. ;) Come on little Wigan owt can happen in the cup.I don’t think the draw works quite like that.
Last year it was;
Millwall v Wigan
Chelsea v Manchester CityDo you feel lucky? Again?
News from Everton – not for REAL WAFC fans.
Roberto will get a chance for revenge when Arsenal go to Goodison.
Everton will have to finish above Spurs or Man United to qualify for the Europa League. And Spurs’ good run seems to have come to an abrupt end.
Looks like an exciting end of season for both Roberto and Uwe.
On to 700!
Yes, but they don’t capitulate every week.
And they’re not the only team to concede goals this season.
Man City 6 Spurs 0
Spurs 0 Liverpool 5
Man City 6 Arsenal 3
Liverpool 5 Arsenal 1
Man City 4 Man Utd 1And, apparently, it was invented for other teams too.
Last week at Fulham for instance; Fulham 1 Chelsea 3.
From METRO; For us, though, it seems to be a time in which we dramatically plan our own downfall. Encourage a ridiculously high line against a side littered with pace? Yes, sound good boss. Switch off and capitulate? Okay gaffer, sounds good.
I think the word “CAPITULATE” was invented for Roberto Martinez’s teams.Tim Sherwood disagrees. He thinks it was invented for Tottenham Hotspur.
Describing their defeat at Chelsea today, he says, “You can’t legislate for the capitulation – you can’t have that.”
