    McClean and Beausejour were sensational in the first half. Beausejour had a real understanding with Maloney, and has found another with McClean.

    Rosler seems to like Beausejour and is very patient with McClean. Unlike some of our fans.

    I hope we see more of McEachran, but does anybody know why he went off? Perhaps he wasn’t making enough forward passes.

    I agree with Griff.

    It knocks spots off the rest.

    No need to say which one.

    Sad news for Ben – and for us all.

    Nobody has had more highs and lows in the last eighteen months.

    Look forward to his return.

    Wigan v Barnsley preview;

    36% of the Latics’ goals this campaign have been scored in the final 15 minutes, a league-high share.

    The Tykes have scored just twice in the final 15 minutes this season, a joint-league low with Charlton.

    This suggests that Wigan are fit enough to last 90 minutes. You might have expected Wigan to dominate the end of the game. It didn’t turn out like that.

    Rosler wants to play at high intensity, but you can’t do that for 90 minutes. So the game goes in fits and starts. You have to have a style for the rest of the game.

    Be careful – this humour is infectious.

    Thanks for that.

    You’re right. Poor in the first instance and ambiguous in the second!

    City have a tough programme in February and March. They will have to rotate their admittedly enormous squad. Still, games and injuries could take their toll.

    Tue 18 Feb Man City v Barcelona
    Sat 22 Feb Man City v Stoke
    Sun 2 Mar League Cup Final Man City v Sunderland
    Weekend 7/8/9 Mar FA Cup Man City v Wigan

    Wed 12 Mar Barcelona v Man City
    Sat 15 Mar Hull v Man City
    Sat 22 Mar Man City v Fulham
    Tue 25 Mar Man Utd v Man City
    Sat 29 Mar Arsenal v Man City

    Man City v Aston Villa to be arranged

    However, in the same period we have a tough programme too, with one more game to play than City! We also have to rearrange a match, the home game against Leicester.

    A worrying report;

    [Watson] seemed almost apologetic at the end as he returned to the pitch sheepishly to embrace his colleagues more than half an hour after being substituted. Rosler claimed Watson had been carrying an injury and might be out for a while, but he would not elaborate.

    Yes, but he grew up in Scotland. What’s your excuse?

    Make your own mind up. His actual words are;

    Ben Watson, who struck the winning goal at Wembley when they stunned Manchester City last May, got the winner in Cardiff, with another spectacular long-range strike. Even Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was forced to admit: “It was a wonder goal. You can’t legislate for goals like that.”

    Perhaps City will be forced to play their reserves.

    in reply to: Recognition #127411

    We’ve certainly had our ups and downs already this season.

    We’ve played one game at Wembley and now have two chances to return.

    However, we may well be mixing with the big boys in the cup. And we’re one of half a dozen teams fighting for sixth place.

    The excitement may well go on right to the end of the season.

    in reply to: Maloney #127409

    The announcement that Maloney would need an operation came in late October. The reports said that he would be out for at least three months, and perhaps the rest of the season.

    Here’s an explanation from Maloney;
