I’m sure if we sold Sinclair Chelsea would have summert to say.
“The underlining problem with Martinez is his selection.
When will he realise that Scotland is a big of whale? He was awful again today, he will NEVER score in the Prem. He should be on the bench at a push.”
Who else does he choose Duke? Kapo? :?
The underlying problem is Whelan plain and simple. I’ll bet he promised RM shitloads of transfer funds to get him to come here and what has he given him? Bugger all.
It was always going to be a tough game today Brum have hit a run of form and apparently their chairman has promised 40 mill available in January….if we spend a tenth of that I’ll be amazed.
I saw our players arguing amongest themselves today most notably Scharner and Thomas…nobody stepped in to sort them out. We used to say as kids get the other team arguing and you will win……As much as I have praised Melchiots footballing ability he just doesn’t have the presence needed to grab the team and pull them together in tough times.
Not enough competition in many positions is also a big problem for us. Who out of our usual starting 11 feels they have anyone pushing for their place?
Roberto cannot be judged in this league until he has had some financial backing…..you all know that isn’t going to happen.
Sjoke up next….how fooking annoying is it that despite our time and experience in this league they are higher than us and we are going there not really expecting much from the game…
As for the support today…..it was shocking. 70 mins and the grounds emptying….for the lot who stormed off out, your team were struggling and needed your help, and even up to the last minute a draw was never out of the question and you walked….
2 December 2009 at 6:42 pm in reply to: Your Favorite Latics Player of ALL TIME!…(one only please) #14396Scott Green for me.
A great character. He used to beat two men, go on a great run, then spoon every pass into touch…..Also the only Latics player I saw get booked whilst warming up as a sub…I forget who it was against but the ball went into touch near him as he was warming up in the corner. Their outfield player didn’t like the way Greeny threw him the ball back, said summert, and the next thing Greeny gets to grips with him and ends up chucking him Judo stylee on the deck…..
LOL! I think that was when he whipped one of the Arsenal players shorts down an’all !
Fooking nutter that mon!
Aye Filmoss I think there was summert like 4,000 max on at the JJB for our Carling cup semi first leg against Arsenal in our first year in the prem….and Arsenal brought a decent following aswell!
Next thing you know we take 25,000 to Cardiff for the final!
We did play them Filmoss…I think it was a night match in the Carling cup and they beat us 0-1 if memory serves me right….
The attendance as it stands at the moment is likely to be fooking awful and that is why folk are trying to plant seeds in the clubs minds as to the sorts of things that could be tried to get some folk in.
To be honest from past cup games at the DW we could pretty much open the gates and have it free for anyone and we wouldn’t get more than 10,000 on…
The last paragraph sounds a cracking idea Faz.
The only thing I’d be worried about is we could do all these things for the FA cup game, the Wigan Public still wouldn’t bother there arses and all that good publicity turns into bad when we still only get 15k on! It’s cold in January you know!
Good point Alansmith…..I hope the club realise our turn outs in cups are generally appalling (along with alot of other clubs these days)…. I hope they set the tickets at no more than a tenner for adults and five snots for concessions…with even a little discount for ST holders on top of that, or a pound a friend deal again.
Its a crappy draw for us this, and also for Hull so the club need to try and get some arses on seats to get behind the lads.
I hope we get someone like Nob End away in the next round
Scharnerstoe….Just show me 1 scrap of evidence that I have ever written anything negative about RM please.
I think that is the most promising thing about RM…he is still learning all the time, and even despite that we are 13th. I’m sure he is going to go on and be the best manager we’ve ever had in the long term.
I think he has probably now seen enough of Scotland to realise he’s had a fair crack of the whip and isn’t good enough for the Prem.
I just hope Whelan frees up enough cash for a far better replacement come January.
27 November 2009 at 12:48 am in reply to: Another Dave Whelan uneducated approach thread/topic! #13926I would agree Whelan does need to shut up….but I think Whelan can see Roberto is a good young manager who deserves more time.
Since when has Whelan ever worried about going back on his word?

It’s off apparently.
Well said Wigan Latic88…
All you need is to find a big field somewhere and have a MHM v CL straightener.
I’ll hold everyones coats for them. ;)
Thats a ladies fancheata isn’t it….it’s along time since I saw one but it looks like one.
