Franz Vatenbauer says…..
As a player myself, and later a manager, I was always open to changing styles, depending on opposition and the situation. I always thought, and said, that the aim should be to get that ball in the box as much as possible. As a player, I played as a defensive midfielder/centre back. We played 4-4-2 and had two fast wingers. I used to say to them before games “when I get the ball, get ready to go” and basically, every time I got the ball, I launched a diagnal ball, aiming for the corner of the penalty area, with back-spin on. The winger would get on it, cross the ball. and more often than not we’d score. Simple.
Fook me Vat is there anything you are not dead good at?
Welcome back to the board matey, your as mad as a fish but you do make me chuckle! ;)
I hope you are right George about us having too much for them…..I also thought we would have too much for Wolves, Portsmouth and Hull.
Bolton and Rovers are going to be tough games alright, and they will be looking on the games against us as winnable.
Up the Tics.
If we loose on Monday we will be 18 games 18 points.
Still on track for the point a game.
If we then loose against Blackburn my ringpieceometer may well start a twitchen… :?
At this stage of the season I have
West Ham and Hull for the drop with one from any of the next 7 or 8 teams making the third.
Having just watched Pompey I believe they have character and strength to do the great escape.
If Wolves beat the Dingles tomorrow with their rested side he will be hailed as a hero even by the fans who can afford to pay £42 to go to Old Trafford.
If they loose the press will have a field day with him.
Fair play to McCarthy…he has shown alot of balls taking this decision.
They could have taken their first eleven and got hammered by more than three anyroad.
Well done Mick…..Still hope the game is a draw though!

I knew we would try and do things on the cheap this January but this is ridiculous….why don’t we sign Nigel Lawson up whilst we are at it!
As always…I’m the first to admit when I get it wrong(which is most of the time) Well played our lads and bring on the Scousers!! :D
Up the Tics!
What’s happend to you Yick, you used to be one of the more positive posters. You seem to have developed a bad case of snide flu like the majority here.
Just saying it how I see it Griff….I’ll still be shouting the lads on tomorrow though. 8-)
I’ve just done a bit of digging, and the comment about the pitch being narrow is borrocks btw….thats what you get for listening to a bloke down the pub!
Their pitch is narrow, they will get tight and not let our lads play the ball around, we won’t be able to cope. It’ll be like the second half of the Brum game all the way through.
Their home fans create a great support for their team, and will probably sway the ref.
11 December 2009 at 12:05 am in reply to: I love my club more than this league. Does anyone else? #15020Add to your post DBT the following…..
Refs who actually allow tackling and don’t blow up if someone like Stevie Gee or Ronaldo tell them they should.
Dave, I agree that Whelan is a tight fisted fooker…I don’t agree if you think it’s time to look into changing Roberto…just wanted to clear that up.
Good post Dave, everyone knows thats how it’s going to be in January! We’ve all seen the same sketch enough times now.
The sound bite will probably be summert along the lines of “well with us being in a relegation battle it’s very hard to get players to come here, even though I did break my leg in a cup final, and it doesn’t help having an Eyetie as England manager, because it should be Fergie, even though he signed that Owen who is dead cr@p!”
:x :x :x :x :x :x
The whole point of my post was that I believe RM did not have enough time to settle in and start looking at Premiership quality players and Whelan is to blame for that. Maybe Scotland and Gomez were panic buys?
How can people be trying to judge RM when he hasn’t been given a proper transfer window to do buisness? (not that he will get the support he needs from the chairman)…The problem is Whelan constantly tryin to do the job on the cheap and now it’s catching up with us.
Do you mean the Summer when Roberto only came on board really late due to Whelans fanny farting about trying to steal him from Swansea on the cheap instead of giving them a decent offer? Thus giving him no time to settle in and look at good transfers for us? (remember).
FFS don’t even go there with De Ridder man!
No No Garswood it clearly means send back to Chelsea….. ;)
>>>>>>SINCLAIR ( 10 mins a game cant really say, dont think he will stay) SELL<<<<<<< Ooops pardon me for thinking because you put SELL you meant SELL. Oh dear MoMo, off the day they did English at your school were you?
