Said it many times. I can’t usually defend our “missing” fans but although Monday’s game isnt expensive by PL standards, I do think the prices should have been somewhere between £20 + £25 and although probably getting membership for a kid is quick and cheap, for non-members £20 is ridiculous.
How Bobby must wish he was able to make substituions like Spain can, Xavi for Fabregas and Torres for Villa…..what a team they’ve got
Didn’t see any of it, but well done to James on playing tonight.
As for that tackle, seen it again and McCarthy is one side of the corner flag and the ball is at the other, now guess which side of the corner flag Ridgewell goes towards……clue, its not the one where there’s a round object on the grass.
I know it wouldnt have helped us on the day Ridgewell being punished by the FA after the game, but we’ll have to be careful as its now obviously ok to tackle our players when the ball is a yard away….can you imagine Wenger, he would have called for Ridgewell to be banned for life.
You boo him after every game……dear me, you must wake up on a Saturday and count down the time till 4.50. Presumably no thought of turning up and getting behind the team for 90 minutes, no doubt you boo them in the warm up or as they’re coming out of the tunnel for KO.
That is exactly my point, Bath Latic….if we were going to sack Martinez, it should have been done maybe a month or so ago, to give the new man perhaps around half a season to try and turn things round.
Thought it was a poor tackle at the time, but only saw a replay of it yesterday. Apart from Talk Sport mentioning it, the tackle seems to have been lost in all the Shawcross talk. Having now seen the 2, there’s no doubt that Ridgewell’s is far worse and if anything considering where McCarthy was in relation to the pitch and ball, I would say that Ridgewell”s lunge was totally intentional.
Also can’t believe that the PL haven’t looked at that and charged Ridgewell with violent conduct or whatever, thats even more scandalous than the ref’s decision to let him get away with it.
spot on mate no itention on getting the ball if you watch it again
the ball does not move at all, with the linesman being injured as
well the focus was all on him, ridgewell should be done by tv
evidence as the ref never even booked him :x :x :x :xInteresting read that Jay but you do have to wonder about the wisdom of building on that land in the first place, especially if you aren’t going to remove the tanks that seem to be the main problem. Surely the cost of relaying the pitch every year, which seems to be happening, far outweighs the cost of sorting out the tank issue once and for all.
Yes, so did I, that last comment’s ridiculous. N’Zogbia has been outstanding for most of the season, under Bruce he did nothing apart from a goal at Sunderland and many of us (myself included), we wondering what we had paid £6m for.
If he’d not tried to be so clever, he could have bought that down and run through for a clear shot on goal, appalling decision making
28 February 2010 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Probably the first post from someone who went today #24765You’re right about it being a poor league this year, just have to look at the likes of Birmingham, Stoke, Blackburn all of whom are around or in the top 10. All 3 are absolutely awful, haven’t seen any side outside the top teams who have impressed over 90 minutes this season and thats what makes our position even more disappointing.
Stoke are a pretty physical side, have to say though I dont think Shawcross did it deliberately, although it was a bad tackle. If it had been Wilkinson, then I wouldn’t have been suprised, he does look like he does set out to deliberately maim opponents.
Ridgewell had N’Zogbia in his pocket and Scharner was just absolutely shocking. The substitutions were quite effective, we looked more of a threat in the second half and with the chances Hugo had were perhaps unlucky not to get a point.
Was right to take N’Zogbia off yesterday, he was having a poor game and had been booked for absolutely nothing as well.
As for sticking by Martinez, quite right, there’s only 10 games left. We’ve got to get behind the team. Not as confident as I was that we would stay up, but for all those in the “Martinez out” brigade, I guarantee that with a new manager coming into the club now, we’d be almost certain to be relegated, a manager needs time to build a team and get his ideas across and some of you want a manager to do that in 10 gams….do you really understand football?
Couldn’t agree more about a public enquiry, its seems crazy that these people running clubs are allowed to run up huge debts and then still allowed to continue trading in their other business interests. At Portsmouth, people running the club must have seen that on gates of circa 18K, you can’t be paying a number of players £75K+ a week. Only today on the radio, I think it was the adminstrator was saying that Pompey have recently been losing £3-£4m a month, and yet the people in charge are still allowed to run other companies.
