Asked the question on Latics Twitter page last week, didn’t get a reply, but you’d have thought its worth considering if completion rules allow, easier for both set of fans

I’d have said the problems today were far removed from Gary not giving a shiny one. He put out a team that started off well, keeper then throws one in, we give away a sloppy second goal and then don’t show any desire to have a go or attempt to get back into the game.

Where we’ve defended well in tricky spells in some away games, we displayed that soft under-belly that we sometimes have once we concede. Our midfield disappeared totally and we were ruthlessly punished.

An awful day, unacceptable display from the lads, 6 am training in order tomorrow as they’ve spoiled Sunday morning for a good few people. However, its one bad display in a few games, hopefully that kick up that backside that might lead to us sorting out some of our issues. We get back on it Tuesday night, move on and we’ll be just fien

Back in the 80’s & 90’s the Cemetery End was the away end, been there a few times, remember one game where the CE was the away stand when it chucked it down (Boxing Day I think) and in that game sure Mark Leonard hit a shot from six yards out that hit a puddle and barely made it in the net and Neil Rimmer chipped the keeper from 30 yards, Latics fans celebrate, ball lands in puddle, keeper (Alan Kelly?) bends down and picks it up to the general astonishment of everyone in the ground

Not going into a knee-jerk reaction about the game, but to single Barnett out is quite unfair, Just purely on some of the goals we have conceded away from home, McCann needs to take a look at himself, gave the ball away at Gillingham for their 1st, did the same for Vale’s first today and if I wasn’t mistaken (as I was at the other end of the ground to our fans), was dispossessed for the build up which ultimately led to their winner.

Never got this thing of leaving way before end because things aren’t going well, people will always leave early for a quick getaway, catch trains etc and that’s fair enough.

As for the game, massive win that, team showed fighting spirit and togetherness, Kellet and McCann made a difference, though I couldn’t understand Vukinic being taken off, he was one player who looked like he could make things happen even at 2-0.

Early days still, hopefully we can push on and build on yesterday.

So many unbelievable memories, difficult to pick the top 5, but I’ll have a go.

. Mansfield promotion game 1982, hatrick from Eammon O’Keefe, fantastic day as a young lad to see your team get promoted.

                    4. Brentford Wembley 85, special day, seeing Latics at Wembley, boiling hot day, great win and a cracking atmosphere among both sets of fans.

                    3. Reading, the impossible dream Part 1 came true, magical, magical day. Never been as nervous before or since in the build up to a game…that moment when the Duke sealed it, was just amazing.

                    2. Brugges, just the whole experience, the fans, seeing everyone just intent on having a great time and enjoying something we thought would never happen, Little Wigan in Europe.

                    1. May 11 2013…quite simply the most amazing experience any of us who where there will ever have watching Latics. Our name on the most famous domestic knock-out trophy in world sport FOREVER

Not sure how I feel about a statue….putting aside the success we’ve been fortunate enough to witness over the last 20 years, Dave Whelan’s legacy to both Wigan Athletic and Wigan RLFC is the fact that we are both still in existence and on a much better footing than would have been the case without his intervention. That and the fact that both clubs play in a stadium which was built through his ambition and finance and the contributions he had made to both clubs should be enough for us all to remember and recognise the importance of the man to professional sport in our town.

Not sure a statue is necessary but I can completely understand why it is being built.

Wiganers, Blue or Cherry & White aren’t exactly great when it comes to getting off their backsides to watch their team, especially when it’s on the box so 4,677 is hardly a surprise.

However, when it comes to that lot, “loyalist fans in the world” and the media “Wigan’s a rugby town”, it all helps to further blow those myths out of the water. Have to compliment them on that crowd though, sure we can all agree that when you play a SF at Warrington and in Leigh and only take 11,000 in total then 4,000 making the long journey on a Friday night is an achievement.

IWe are taking about the best fans in the world and the greatest cup completion in the world…according to them anyway).

As for Mutty, those grapes turned sour a long time ago. think he needs some more bitter and wine to wash them down

Ok, we’ve had 2 relegations in 3 seasons and we’re back in the league where Dave Whelan found us. However, despite his “countless money grabbing”, in the last 20 years we’ve seen moments we never thought possible and club, although in the same division is now a totally different one from that he took over. Off the pitch, stadium, support wise and financially the club is much healthier than it was in 1995.

Not too bad for all that money grabbing…the important thing now, is that Gary Caldwell is given reasonable time and resources to get the job right and take us back up the league

Been impressed with how the Chairman has spoken since he took over the reins. All I want from him is for him to do his best for the club and be honest with us fans about the decisions he makes. Just do that and we’ll be fine

Gary Caldwell’s certainly trying to get us playing decent football, feel that we might be in good hands with him, needs to be given time and the finances to have a real go at building a team we can take pride in again.

As for this season, maybe the seeds were sown with a disastrous pre-season and Uwe’s signings as well as some of the players here in August letting us down. Malky was a disaster on and off the pitch, but at least the current crop are giving it a go…all too late sadly, Reading are the sort of team that any club would want to play at this time of year, poor side, FA cup disappointment and nothing to play for, Rotherham will beat them comfortably I reckon

Fair play to them but its a bit easier when the taxpayer buys you a shiny new stadium and lets you rent it for £40,000 per week

Didn’t take our chances in first half, 2nd half Bong wasted a golden opportunity for us to take the lead, choosing to shoot when a simple ball across goal meant a tap in and then Waghorn stupidly reacts to a stamp. Once Pearce had been sent off, even though it was 9 v 10 that was probably the end of the game
