Koumas was a bloody good player. Something went wrong with him and it all balls’ed up. In football terms yes i agree he took a big wage but he was a wasted talent for me.

Aghahowa was never given a chance and stuffed by everyone for missing one header against Liverpool.

Boselli was slammed up front and expected to do something he has never done before. Never given a chance.

I remember Bruno being subbed and never seeing him again then hearing the stories afterwards. Funny fella that mon. Probably turned up, Saw Springfield Park and said to himself ‘Fuck This Off’

Players like King and Scotland were woeful and WERE given a chance. They are a fair way clear of Aghahowa and Boselli.

King is the worst for me above all the Jenkinson’s and Smeets etc.

He cost 5m, We were forced to pay his 40,000 wages and were forced also to sack him. And he scored 1 goal (a penalty). In football and financial terms he scoops it for me.

Oh it’s far too early for me to blame Whelan yet.

I will wait until we lose 3 games or so yet ;) ;) :P

Just when you thought it was looking promising we go and sign shit like that. What a fucking joke. Cheap, cheap, cheap option again. Fucking idiot Whelan. Penny pinching bastard.

Whelan hasn’t signed him. Coyle has.
I was expecting more from you Standish

Couple of million and Kieren Westwood would be a great deal for us. Never had a chance up there. Good keeper for The Premiership let alone The Championship. Hope Coyle is thinking the same.

Daily Mail, so it must be true.

It probably is though, along with Alcaraz.

At least they’ve gone quite early in the window. All we need now is McCarthy and Maloney out the door quickly so we can see how much we have to spend.

We’re a run of the mill Championship club now, reflected in the level of player we are signing and appearing to be interested in. Need to get used to it fellas.

Yeah these 2 are gone, no doubt. I’m not all that sure Maloney will leave. McCarthy is a good one because the media have made him sound like Zidane to hammer up his already overrated price.

I think these players leaving is a good thing. Kone doesn’t want to be here so has to go, We have tried in the past to keep onto unhappy players and it just get’s worse, A la Chimbonda and Kapo. Players like Figeuroa and Boyce have been relied upon far to long, The team needs freshening up with new younger blood. Players who have a bit more to their game. I would keep Boyce around though as back up, Only because of his work behind the scenes and influence on the training pitch though.

My team for next season would look something like this.

……………………………..1.Nicholls……………………….

2.Brayford/Trippier…..4.Dunne……5.Ramis……3.Michael Keane(loan)

……………………………..6.McArthur………………………..

.7.McManaman……….8.McGugan…………..11.Espinoza……….

…………………….10.Maloney…………………………………
……………………………9.Sharp…………………………….

Bench.

Pollit/New keeper
Boyce
Campabadal
Beasuajour
McCann
Januzaj (loan)
Van Velzen (free)

I would have a look at the Blackpool defence.

Meanwhile, Wigan are preparing for life without the Spanish boss as new manager Owen Coyle is signing former Blackpool left-back Stephen Crainey on a free.
We have been linked with him for the last 3 managers. His dad must be a Wiganer or summat.

in reply to: Kone on his Wigan future. #116902

He can’t hold us to any kind of ransom though that’s the beauty of this situation. The price is the price and no matter how many stories about other clubs him and his agents fabricate, The sad fact for him is that if someone doesn’t stump up 6.5m for a striker from a relegated side he aint going nowhere. There are many strikers around who can cut it in this league. There is one player i desperately want us to go in for. One Billy Sharp

in reply to: Scott Carson #116899

The fact in this subject is that he ISN’T proven at this level.

My personal opinion is that he should be given the chance. I was on the Northampton boards checking him last season and glowing references just doesn’t cover the superlatives he was getting. If we sign Scott Carson then great but if not i want Nicholls in the nets and i am hoping Ali gets snapped up by Slumberland because he was badly found out last season.

Haven’t heard one bad rumour so far. Like the sound of some of these. McGugan would really whet the appetite, An all action midfielder.

in reply to: It’s Coyle, let’s get over it #116637

I’m looking forward to winning more than we lose in the Championship and enjoying the buzz of winning regularly again.

The logic of this makes no sense. You want to see Wigan win regularly yes? But that would (hopefully) lead to promotion and then getting mullered every week. If it doesn’t lead to promotion then I imagine we lose in the play offs/get knocked out in the play offs every season?

There isn’t a single team in the Championship that is happy just staying there, all 24 teams have long term ambitions to get promotion. We can’t just be satisfied with ‘winning more than we lose’, we must try and get promotion whilst the whole club still has the Premier League mentality and believes the Prem is where we belong. The longer we go without promotion, the more we’ll accept that we are a Championship club (like Ipswich, Leeds, Middlesbrough etc have).
Spot on, And on the flip side, Getting relegated from that league and ending up in league 1 can finish a club. Getting relegated from the Premier League isn’t great but gives the club free income for 3 seasons. Going down from the Championship can kill a club and has soooo much more importance.

We would get more takers if it was made by Kendal Mint.

You seem to be a poster who changes your views depending on the outcome of each game almost.

That is the only way to judge a performance though JR. We can’t say “Oh well, So what if we got battered by Swansea, We beat West Brom in the last game!”

I judge on a game by game, I have had a few predictions come right and some wrong. When i have been wrong i have always said so. When i have been right i don’t use the ‘I told you so battering ram’ Because let’s face it. After bit, Predicting Martinez’ tactics and interviews became very easy. Im not in any l/s or d/s category. I just give my view. Credit to the lads who tried to put a good spin on every shocker though. I couldn’t and wouldn’t do that.

in reply to: Coyle…cant be any worse than the last 4 seasons. #116453

I think it’s time to bury the hatchet with Coyle. The decision is made and we need to judge him on his own merits. None of which any of us have a clue about yet if we are honest. He got an average Burnley up, Did well in Scotland, And took a poison chalice at Bolton who have had crippling debts for a good few years that were kept out of the public domain. This job Coyle has taken is by far and away the best opportunity he has had at any club to prove what he can do. He has the players and in this division he will have the funds.
