I just won a very easy £60 on the Nigeria game. Nigeria to win with a handicap of -3 was 13/10 and to win with -4 14/5 so i took them both. I have just seen Spain to win by 5 and a half goals or more at 3/5. Easy money.

You need all the experience you can get in the championship. He was Bolton’s captain and is a great leader. Just look at Kevin Phillips, He has almost single handedly got Palace up. Im very much warming to the Owen Coyle appointment. It’s a fresh start, What is the point in hanging him before a ball is kicked.

As the title suggests…

Ok Coyle wouldnt have been my choice. In fact, only Whelan, faced with a choice of a former England boss or Bolton boss, would chose Bolton

But the deed is done.

We are not Blackburn. We support our manager and players 100%. Always.

In Owen we trust (so nearly Michael a few years ago  )

Anyway I’m off on hols tomorrow…will be wearing the shirt with pride :woohoo:

+1

Time to stop raking the past up. We are in the championship now with Owen Coyle. Let’s get behind the man and see what happens.I for one am getting a season ticket again next season and can’t wait for all the away days.

in reply to: Kevin Davies Anyone ? #116316
He is a yard dog noooooooooooooooo.

10 years ago he was a real good player. I believe he has been doing his coaching badges. I’d have him here tomorrow.

in reply to: Lightside ! #116314

The appointment was usual Whelan, The cheap option as we know, But Owen Coyle has fought hard to get this job and get’s my backing. He did one poor job, And that was at a club £250m+ in debt. Let’s see what happens.

in reply to: COYLE CONFIRMED #116071
Year on Year rolling contract What is Whelan thinking of !!!!!!!

Same as always, Himself and money.

in reply to: What would you look for in a manager ? #115721
I’m always very positive when it comes to WAFC, but also I realise what we have achieved so far has been amazing and way beyond anything dreamed possible. Not a 100% lightsider and not a 100% darksider ….. is there a “greyside” ???

Top 10 in the premiership is WAY ABOVE our standard and what we as a club can aim for ….. the top 10 in the premiership get stronger and richer every year, year on year (one of the reasons for us playing super football, yet still getting relegated last year) …. given my experience of WAFC over the years, I would say that the Championship is our level and anything above should be cherished. Just my opinion like.

Nah, Why can we not finish in the top ten in the premiership. Dave and Bob have been saying top 6 for years even when they had no intention of trying to achieve it. All about money and lying again to try and get bums on seats. That is all Dave Whelan does.

I would have been happy with relegation in 2006 just because i had experienced the Premiership but Dave Whelan said there would be a warchest, top 6 blah blah, But he just wanted 25,000 fans every week for the relegation battles so he could pocket all the revenue.

Hit yourself over the head with a brick for a few minutes and then you’ll probably understand why some post what they post.

The inevitable reply. This little clique you have going on, The all things Wigan Athletic is rosy and the greatest club ever blah blah. Why can’t people just say what the truth is and the FACT of what situations are. It’s easy, If we have played shit then don’t be afraid to criticize, That’s what fans do. Your one sided and predictable arguments are the same on every post. Just because you and Griff etc think you are braniacs doesn’t make it so. It’s easy to stick your head in a thesaurus and call people thick all the time. Griff tried it on another post but i didn’t bother then low and behold one of ‘The CL Firm’ crops up and adopts the same usual tactic. You don’t know any of us so how the fuck would you know. I would suggest the inability to see the world through anything other than rose tinted glasses is rather thick. Im just so glad i’m individual, Using my own brain to come up with my own answers and opinions, Not in a group of about 5 people telling everyone they know fuck all when they know just as much. Just because we have different views doesn’t make the person you disagree with thick. It just means they have alternative answers. Must be fantastic being right about everything, You must all be millionaires and high ranking Masons. Wish i was that clever.

I would like to see the back of the under 12’s that post on here, that would leave about 4 of us I reckon.

Robin Red

Well you would most certainly be fucked as you are by far the most childish that has EVER been on. Whichever posting name you use.

in reply to: If Bruce Does Come… #115568
IMO Yosser you struggle to understand simple tactics

No, I just like to toss grenades into threads and watch you all go barmy.

Frig all else to do in the off season.

I can’t think of a game under Martinez where we have done anything but try to attack from the first whistle to the last.
Southampton at home is still pretty fresh in the mind off the top of my head.
A handful of good performances in 4 seasons, absolutely marvellous :woohoo:
Exactly, The majority of it has been total dross, It’s easy to palm over the 9-1, 8-0, 5-0 and multiple 4-0’s with ‘We won the F.A Cup. He may well turn out to be a good manager but in 4 years here he was bloody awful. This youth system he spouts about, No home grown Wigan players have come through it yet, Just players signed from other sides who were lumped into it. AND… This youth thing will disappear now Roberto has gone anyway. Whelan won’t have that little problem on his shoulders now. Under Bruce we played some good stuff, We finished comfortably and didn’t leak a guaranteed 2 goals a game. I hope Martinez fails spectacularly, Lied his way out of the club, Left us in the lurch and did the opposite of everything he said he wouldn’t.

in reply to: Shortening odds on Owen Coyle #115503
How do you KNOW he is a nasty piece of work?

I hope people are not against coyle because he is ex bolton…as its been pointed out already, al habsi has his own song and he
Is ex bolton.

My hero from the eighties..tony kelly is a bolton legend…david lee, scott green were huge players on our rise through the
Lower league’s.

I would rather have coyle, than rene whoever he is, but thats just my opinion…to be fair, how many mistakes has whelan
Made manergerial wise?…rioch maybe, hutchings definately…he got a decent record to be fair.

Because i KNOW, And i think most that have come into contact with him KNOW this too.

in reply to: Bob’s Gone #115491

If Martinez does come back to raid players won’t they be the same players who weren’t good enough to keep us in thee Prem playing the Martinez way?.

Shops open , , Whelan is a dab hand with RRP ….

And before the FA cup is brought up again……Prem was over 38 games were as the cup was over 6 ,,, 4 of them against Shiite …..thanks for the cup now your gone let’s move on ….hope to feckin god its not Coyle…..I never trust anyone who finishes every sentence with a sarcastic smile.

fa cup, fa cup and fa cup.

long may it be brought up…

who was shite? were you at Macclesfield? they were damn good for a non league team and I was particularly impressed with John Paul kissock.

obviously was a big game for them as was the final for us.

the beauty of the facup.

we won the cup in the same way as it has ever been won before. we completely deserved it and I won’t let anyone take anything away from what was a fantastic achievement.
No disputing that! It can’t be. And it’s in the record books now too, Forever.

in reply to: Shortening odds on Owen Coyle #115462

Just seems like an easy out does this, If true. There are far more managers with potential than Coyle. Though he did do a good job at Burnley and in Scotland but hit a brick wall with funds at Bolton.

I don’t think Whelan is interested in progression though. All money to him, No other chairman pimps out his managers or players. It’s a laughable way to conduct yourself if you were slightly interested in progression. Money, money, money, Sod the fans. We don’t deserve a football club after all though do we as we don’t sell out every game according to him and line his pockets. If he doesn’t get his own way he cries to the relevant people who will listen. You won’t get bums on seats if you don’t show that you want us to progress. Not just spending cheap and hoping for a fluke promotion to come straight back down again. It’s time to hand the club over. If it’s in profit then it will sell, Not how Dave makes out how no one wants it, no money ever comes in, not a pot to piss in blah blah.

What exactly do you think Whelan lines his pockets with when all the money received from sales is needed to merely keep the club afloat?

It would be a case of ‘sod the fans’ if the club went into administration, but that hasn’t happened and we’ve had eight years as the smallest club ever to play in the Premier League – with an FA Cup win, and you’ve got one man to thank for all of that.

‘You won’t get bums on seats if you don’t show that you want us to progress.’ That’s not entirely true. After finishing 10th in the Premier League, the club tried to increase season ticket prices and the average attendance dropped. If finishing 10th in your first season in the Premier League isn’t progress, I don’t know what is. Even if the club filled the empty 6,000 or so seats for the entire season, they’d make around £3million extra. Wiganers turn up if it’s cheap.

Whelan has said for years that’s he’d sell the club, and there isn’t exactly a queue of Arab billionaires waiting to snatch his hands off.

People don’t buy football clubs to make money, so the fact we’re in profit is irrelevant – otherwise after you’d bought it, it’d take you fifteen years or more just to break even. What’s the point?

But you want him to merely hand it over? To who exactly and why should he?
Surprised you have took this man on Standish.

Yosser criticises Whelan’s ambition to get bums on seats yet openly admits he doesn’t attend many games…

He cant do anymore than he has to get bums on seats in the past 8 years aside from financially cripple himself, the club and his family after he passes.
I just don’t like the man. I think he is a leech. And i know that he is a nasty piece of work.

As you say, I still support Wigan Athletic but i don’t have to like everybody.
