Risking my status on here …

Mutty…do us a favour and fuck off!

Nobody cares what you think. You offer nothing in terms of ‘banter’ so do one.

This kind of post (Especially from a moderator) is why i became an observer rather than a contributor and stopped posting on here years ago. I Have been around this site since it’s inception (granted, under 3 different guises) and lost interest when the posters lost the ability to debate. Shame really because the creche that is vital offers nothing either.

All eyes on Derby County now, let’s see how the EFL deal with them. Will they treat them any differently? I would say yes because they are a ‘Big’ city club who won a league about 40 years ago. The same way they looked after Leeds for the same reasons, and Notts Forest to some extent.

The problem with Lenegan is that he stupidly put a bid in for the stadium and this destroyed the little trust the Latics fans had in him.You can see what he has done to the Robin Park arena to know what the DW will look like if he gets his hands on it.

I don’t think this is entirely true to be honest. I think some tic’s fans have jumped all over the fact that he did make a bid thinking it was all Warriors based. A lot has been said on forums and twitter but nobody knows the ins and outs of it all. It’s all guesswork. We know for a fact he made a bid for the stadium. We know for a fact the Americans wanted the club and not the stadium. These guy’s with all the money are well informed and well connected in one way or another so it’s easy to guess that the two are intrinsically linked to one another. My view is that in order for the American takeover to happen somebody had to take the stadium on. Who else was going to do this other than Leneghan? I know he made a statement saying he would like to save the club or something like that, but i think that is what he meant – The stadium situation. I don’t think he was ever wanting to buy the club or in fact had the resources to but you can see if what i say is true why he would say what he did because it would have saved the club. Latics would be owned by the yanks and Leneghan would have the stadium, not the rugby, Leneghan. The stadium loses money so how Leneghan thinks he could make it work is his business. Nobody really knows but i think everyone has made 2+2 and come up with 5. Latics being in administration seems to have given more ammo for Rugby bashing where the real enemy is the Admins who have leeched the club for everything (nothing) they have got. They have played every ace card they possibly can and are making money every day. You don’t get rich by being courteous and doing what is the best by people. The Rich are usually bastards who screw everyone else for what they can. Whatever happens, we need a buyer and bloody fast.

Playing 2nd string would be the worst decision of the season. What could the club really do with right now? A big premier league side away in the 3rd round. I know there is no gate receipt money but there is certainly some well needed coffers to be had. The club needs to look at cup competitions pre 1995 again where a cup run was a very much needed bonus.

Understand where the OP is coming from but millionaires are millionaires for a reason. They want a return on investment and won’t just give it away. They will to charities because it makes them look good and they can claim it back.. At the moment the club is just a black hole with hardly any chance of getting it back. It needs a fairly wealthy millionaire with a long term plan for the club, that is the way forward.

Just heard that Ian Lenegan has made a bid for the stadium directly to the Chinese owners. Don’t know how much truth is in it but just checked the warriors boards and it’s on there

Also, the wording of the statement from one of the administrators this morning says this is a hell of a lot worse than going into administration and staying up. They said “The main goal is to try and ensure the club can fulfill its remaining fixtures” The wording is alarming. It implies imminent closure.

in reply to: Whelan to the rescue? #187495

Not sure what he can do Jay, The club is bleeding money and not looking like getting it back. I can’t see Whelan just giving money away, thats what the club needs. Me and a mate queried this takeover extensively. They are citing brexit, covid and not getting promoted as reasons for leaving. If Garry Cook told them 10m investment would have got them to the premier league then they are idiots for believing it. My feeling of the takeover was not about Wigan Athletic but was more about the amount of land the club owns. They have two massive expanses of land in prime locations that property developers would snatch their hand off for. The stadium concert idea was never going to work so they are left with egg on their face and are just bailing out. Well done EFL, fit and proper persons test my arse. Every Chinese consortium should be banned from running a club. They have ruined every single one of them. Just a marketing tool.

Sure i read somewhere that Exeter drop from 4th to 8th and out of the play off picture. How can that be right?

    in reply to: Joffy #183570

Not good enough to play in easily the worst side in the division but good enough to sign for the biggest clubs in the land. Sums Cook up perfectly.I said at the beginning of the season that relegation was nailed on and was hounded. Well this is the kind of things that made me think that way.Goal shy strikers and a weak defence will only send a club in one direction but……….if we go down this time i really fear for the clubs future. These are really dire times.

in reply to: Only ten points behind #181804
10 points behind! But had we taken our goalscoring chances in the last 4 games, that gap could & should have been even less of a gap.

You have hit the nail on the head without realizing it. Creating goal scoring chances is easy, teams will have about 5-10 per game but it’s useless if no bugger can score any.

People wetting their knickers over spending 7m on 2 strikers that have never played above league 1 level. If there was 7m to spend why waste it in that way? Relegation is nailed on i am afraid.

Oh please do kindly, fuck off.[/quote]

Very nice. There is a thread currently going on this board asking where all the old posters have gone. Let me tell you categorically that it is YOU that is the reason nobody posts any more. What a scumbag way to respond.

JR no i am not just a Latics fan making a prediction. Is that allowed or should i say we are going to finish top just for the sake of saying it?

Otter if i was in that situation i would have gone for proven championship level players. I don’t think we are in the position to be taking big gambles like we have. Exciting as it is that money has been spent i don’t believe it has been done correctly. In the other areas i think it has been done well in defence etc but the absolute key area is up top and i just honestly don’t believe that Lowe and Moore will get enough at this level.

Anyway, first log on for years and after the warm welcome i got by VAT i will not bother again and head back over to Vital. The other thread was bemoaning the fact that there is no reasonable debate on here any more. Well i can offer that but it seems VAT and JR and people like that just want a closed shop. How do you expect people to come on here when you welcome them with vitriol.

Dave ‘i would rather watch my team get relegated from Barbados then stay at home and urge the boys on’ Whelan.

Or, Dave ‘I am a 77 years old millionaire with property in Barbados and I would rather be there than listen to the whinging, ungrateful gobshites that criticise me and my best players every other bloody week’ Whelan.

Nah. You don’t get out of it that easily

And there is the ‘old chestnut’ Attendances. Again glass houses and a futile argument. The obsession Latics fans have about Rugby is just embarrassing. Claiming not to be bothered but talking about them all the time. Some folk can’t deal with jealousy though. On no Warriors board do you see a football thread. Apart from the well wishers in the F.A Cup final. Infiltrated with sad, bitter middle aged men this board. The pointless hatred for all things Rugby will soon cease when you all get too old to bother any more.
