Anyway, you should all be watching Modern Family instead. That Gloria bird has a couple of leaders I wouldn’t mind seeing ousted.

The one I don’t like, and seems to be exclusive to Geordie footballers/football managers (particularly Steve Bruce, Alan Shearer and Paul Gascoigne), is ‘he’s went for the ball’ or ‘we’ve went there to get a result’.

I’ve went? You’ve went? We’ve went? They’ve went? Bugs me.

Lancashire CCC plays its matches at four grounds but only one is in Lancashire (Blackpool). There’s two in Merseyside (Liverpool & Southport) and one in Greater Manchester (Old Trafford).

I still put Wigan, Lancashire as my address, along with just about everyone I know

From memory, it was around 24,000 of which around 20,000 were Wiganers.

                Many thanks for the advice.

What ever happened to the Chinese down by the bus station… I think that rivalled the Santi Bag for drunken meals !

I think you’re on about Sweaty Betty’s (Pacific Ocean). Closed down circa 1992 due to rat infestation or summat

Only been to the Thai place once and it was so so. Had heard one or two raving about it but it was disappointing (and expensive).

Can’t beat the Indian and Spice Lounge, off Wallgate, is as good as any around. Take your own pop though, it isn’t licenced.

Casa Carlos (tapas) on Standishgate is pretty good too. Can be a bit expensive but he usually has some sort of offer on.

                    1st game
Want Man Utd away. Get it out of the way.
                    Will probably get Everton away.

                    Boxing Day
                    Want anyone at home.
                    Will probably get Chelsea away.

                    Last game
                    Want whoever’s tenth at home.
                    Will probably get Arsenal away.

Like it or not, there is undoubtably some talent on this show.

I’d like people to post their suggestions of people that are already established celebrities/performers that would remain nobodies and not get through the first audition of this or any X-Factor type show if they didn’t have their status. I’ll start with two:

                      Cheryl Cole

                      Pete Doherty

I take it you’re not a fan of the Libertines then?[/quote]

No I’m not, as it happens. They had one or two good songs and that’s it. The point is, regardless of whether Doherty is a two hat or not (which he is), he would not get through an audition for the village fair talent competition. Along with Cheryl Cole. And Victoria Beckham. And Ian Brown.

Top player, Boselli. Woefully under and misused at our place. A bit like Andreas Johansson under Paul Jewell a few seasons ago.

You’re a pedantic little beggar aren’t you? Sorry if I made the crime of not researching if we’ve played R&D recently, I don’t really take notice of every team we have/haven’t played.

I’ll take your advice but I think you’ve spectacularly missed the point of that post.

Oops, beat me to it ;)

Am I right in thinking that George Davis was the fella who was the subject of disruptions to a couple of test matches back in the seventies when people dug up the wicket? I’ms ure Headingley was dug up and oil poured over the strip.

I heard this story on the radio news yesterday and that was exactly my thought.

It is the same George Davis from the ‘George Davis Is Innocent’ campaign that ruined the wicket overnight, before the final day of a really exciting Headingly Test Match between England and Australia.

I remember being gutted at the time and always thought George Davis was something to do with the IRA – until yesterday when I found out he was actually an armed robber :?

A word for Boyce too – neve seen a player run himself into the ground as much he did yesterday. Excellent effort.

Glad someone else noticed Boycie’s outstanding contribution yesterday. He stretched so far for one ball, after eighty odd minutes, that he almost did the splits and struggled to, but eventually got back up  I winced for him, I thought he’d done himself good and proper.
