Thanks for the post. Funny how nobody replies to such a ‘reality checking’ message. If it wasn’t for Dave Whelan this could easily be us. Lest we forget!
Decent performance but our strikers are bloody awful take it all round. Between them Rodders, Di Santo and Sammon have scored 30 in almost 180 games between them with Hugo being most prolific with 1 in 4.5 games. 18 shots today with only one goal to show. This is one bloody frustrating season.
Your dead right. Complete lack of respect on here for one of our best. Bobby may not be having a good time of it and its fair to say yesterdays performance was pathetic. However, to call Bob ‘a prick’ is nothing short of a disgrace. If you know your history that term can never be bestowed on such a gentleman. When are some of you lot gonna wake up to reality? Always ready to put the boot in when we are down. We are the smallest club in the league with the smallest support. We have worked miracles season in season out to stay in a league which at times has felt like a surreal dream. And even now with 11 games left we are within touching distance of getting out of jail again. Yeah its been pretty shite this season but how many teams can sell their best players consistently and improve?
And there you are. Playing the big man. Attacking the man that created this dream alongside one of our finest. Stay away from our club and take your doom and gloom merchants with you. There will still be a Wigan Ath when your lot are gone whichever league we are in.
BOTM and FM ?
Bob On The Moon and FilMoss, have you lost the will to live LMB? :P
What the fuck have I done !! If you think that was a good match today I say you dont know fuck all about football it was dire !! Talk about rose tinted glasses you really are deluded man !!
Dire? It was an ‘open and entertaining game’!
I agree he also took a bit of pressure off Moses and gave him a more central role similar to Nzogbia last year and he looked just as effective.
This paid off as Moses created havoc on saturday and it will be interesting to see what happens in the future games. If he can rattle in some goals which im sure he will then the the new signing may be worth a mint!
The glass is certainly half full again and we have two weeks to enjoy it.
The Villa game looks a b@stard but again the pressure is on them to come and do it and their manager is really under the cosh so who knows?Wouldn’t call a home game against a team just above us under terrific pressure, in terrible form with huge injury problems in defence a b@stard! Not sure as a fixture it could be much better personally.
‘Most creative player ever to wear the shirt”. Hang on a minute! He had a good few games last year but went missing plenty of times. He aint in the same league as Antonio Valencia which is why The Zog is now struggling at Villa and AV shines in one of the best sides in the world.
Because of course this board is representative of most fans who attend games! Ok Dave. the results are in. Im afraid he’ll have to go! FFS.
I speak regularly to around 20 latics fans (who actually attend games) and all are happy with him at the helm.
A very important point Royston. Far too many internet fans get their expert opinions from live feeds and radio commentary. I`d much rather listen to the ones who make the effort to go to games rather than people who get hysterical while sat in the comfort of their armchair
I reckon if you took a vote on it it would be unanimous that he stayed. A club legend who bleeds blue and white and is loyal to the end. He has managed us to arguably the greatest victories in our history and though we continue to struggle in a league we don’t belong in he has retained his integrity throughout. Name me a manager this decade who has kept a club of our size in the Prem for 3 consecutive years whilst cutting the wage bill.
I share the frustration from some of our performances but am realistic to see that our task season in season out is nigh on impossible. Quite simply the Town struggles to muster enough interest to sustain a club at this level at this juncture in our history.
Sort of see where you are coming from Bigroy. There are deffo rumblings however, certainly in the pub during away games. Not heard much at the games tho.
I think we are all frustrated, yes the manager IS stubborn, i think he should change things a little. It is however, pretty easy being a manager behind a keyboard where your choices/selections etc carry no weight and are not open to scrutiny. Alot of our fans need a serious reality check.Swindon, Notts County, Blackpool, Crystal Palace etc it’s the club that needs a reality check, nothing short of embarassing.
Why does anyone really care that we got knocked out of cups by playing the reserves? Spurs, Chelsea and United were more embarrassing. Will look forward to the chants and flags at the next home game then.
I don’t believe the majority want him out. I speak regularly to around 20 latics fans (who actually attend games) and all are happy with him at the helm. Not once have i heard a Martinez out chant this season and apart from the occasional ‘boo’ have heard little frustration from the stands in general.
You all give it the big one on here but i believe most of the darksiders are in the minority when it comes to home games. Not many teams have been able to stay in the top league for 7 seasons on such limited attendances and to blame the Manager is futile. The real test of Bobby will be when we get relegated. Up the Latics!
This is harsh on Sammon. In games he has started we have played pretty well on whole which must mean we adapt better as a team with him up front. He holds it up and is a menace to defenders. Hugo simply plays for himself. Not for the team. Always has done.
Quite simply Bobby got it wrong by changing the team. Diame and Moses should have started along with Sammon. This is the team that has more than held its own the last few weeks and though Hugo may be more dangerous than Connor he is less of a team player. He fails to hold the ball up or involve others and constantly loses possession easily meaning when he is dispossessed the other team can break quickly. Hugo cant play up front on his own so why do we keep trying the same losing formula. When Sammon has started we have started to look like a team. Sadly, as he doesnt know his first 11 we could soon be back to square one.
The referee may have been bad but the standard of some of that defending was some of the worst i have seen. The goal where Figueroa left his man to claim a foul defies the fact that he is a decent defender. God help us against City!
Where are these spineless martinez haters at the match? They claim they are there in abundance but i dont hear em. Chants of ‘Roberto Martinez’ rang round the ground at points. I believe i speak for most fans who would rather see Bobby as our manager next season no matter what league we are in.
Is he really worth much more? Obviously really skillful player but his end product is pretty woeful take it all round. Crossing is suspect and shooting abysmal in most games this season. If he could perfect even one of the two attributes needed to be a top class winger he would no doubt be playing for a top 4 club.
Bobby will still be here this time next year whatever league we are in and i for one welcome it. You would have to be some magician to keep us in this league year in year out with our budget/general investment and we have had a bloody good/lucky run. We are 5 points from safety and as people have pointed out their have been some promising signs in the last 3 games. I honestly dont believe that we are amongst the worst three teams and we will have 27 games to prove it. In Bobby we trust and having spoken to most of the lads on the coach yesterday they still feel the same.
