Horc wrote “The most negative winger ever to play for us.” Unfortunately Valencia didn’t have the pleasure of playing under Martinez “I am sure he would have thrived under him as has Charlie.”
The only fair comparison then is Valencia V N’Zogbia under Bruce
Season 2008/9Valencia 31 league matches played 3 goals
N’Zogbia 13 League matches played 1 goalValencia was the better defending player than Charlie, am sure that Mario Melchiot would agree with that statement. Personally I think both players records under Bruce relate more to his style of play than the ability of both players.
Just to add to that list.
1. The mere 26 billion pounds that they spent on obsolete Information technology. (alas they didnt understand it )
2. The introduction of over a 100 quango’s costing billions to the taxpayer.
3. The yuman rights act ( a nice little earner for you cherie )AutoWindscreen final 1999, first ever visit to wembley beating Milwall by a late late goal from the understated Paul Rodgers. A grand day out. Worst a few months later losing in the playoffs to Manchester city.
Would have been brilliant to have had both players, think you are being a bit unkind to Valencia who was always our main threat to the opposition, yes Charlie’s the more dangerous as proved by his goal tally, but Valencia was always tackling back and gave his full back far more cover (have you noticed how Melchiot has struggled this season) than Charlie does.
Must confess griff to being in neither camp, being right in between the two was my position, appreciative of what he had done for us whilst wondering who was going to be sold next, and wondering where the sky millions had gone. Didn’t DW say earlier in the season
that our debt was very low compared to other clubs, think he said we were just 15 million in debt, that being the case it shows the sky money has been going to pay off the club’s debts. My viewpoint would now swing towards the protector of the cause, HOWEVER before resetting the pendulem, I will just wait and see if our big two players key to our premiership survival remain after the transfer window.although Melchiot hasn,t played well, Kapo is easily the worst, have never seen this guy break sweat for the club.

Roberts set up a good amount of Ellington’s goals, would far sooner see JR return here, think he would link up well with Hugo. Have to agree though at £300000 Duke would have been a bargain.

Benni McCarthy the odd man out at Blackburn, desperate for first team football to keep his place in South African team, has the experience and would fit the Whelan wallet.
:) Sorry galacTIC haven’t been on here much of late, hearing moans at the matches, seeing people leave the birmingham game very early, just wanted to see what the regulars thought, somebody having a go at Hendry Thomas prompted my 6 penny worth, whatever happens this season I’ll be renewing my season ticket again.
The point I was trying to make is we have a new manager and several new players who haven’t played in the prem, whether we like it or not we are a team in transition. I think those of you who expect the team to kick on this season galacTIC are setting yourselves up for disappointment. I said hopefully bobby will be able to sign new players to replace the experience lost especially in central midfield, which means exactly that he will try to sign new players, who want to come here and are good enough for the club.
I have never subscribed to slagging michael Brown off anywhere, he’s not the world’s greatest player, but he was very good at making it difficult for the opposition, a spoiler with heart and passion who hates for the team to lose. he,s nearing the end of his career, but even in a bit part role his experience would have been invaluable to this club, and that is the point that has passed you by Edingburghlatic, that because our midfielders and several other new team members lack that experience, in some matches WE ARE STRUGGLING.
In full agreement with you Papa, this guy whilst not the most skilful, was the experienced heart of our midfield, and would have been the ideal tutor for Diame and Thomas.

Have read the fee suggested today as £5 mil. Whilst I agree that Fig has not been playing as well, quite possibly taking longer to get used to playing Bobbys way and that Edman might be more suited to the passing game.
The downsides for me are
1. Fig is a much physically stronger player than Edman, and looks more than capable of covering at centre half if needed.
2. How much of Fig’s loss of form is down to the bruce.
3. As and when Fig goes, how soon after will it be before bruce comes in for his fellow honduran, Hendry Thomas who is improving in each game he plays and will be outstanding by next season.
As Fig wants to go it now merely seems a matter of how much and when. I think Bobby should be asking top dollar, whilst unlikely to happen it would be interesting and hopefuly unsettling to bruce if bobby were to ask for one of their players in exchange. e.g Kenwynne Jones or Kieran Richardson.
