So on the subject of Delort & Riera, who actually sourced these 2 out ?, who picked them out to be our answer to 25-30 goals and put us back in the Prem ? and why oh why, when we couldn’t hit the side of the QE2 with an hot air balloon weren’t they both kept and thrown in ?.
When you can see things failing around you basically try anything and everything in your powers to stem the flow whether it have been Holt , Delort , Reira , Waghorn , Mackay , Cosgrove, Flores , but we stuck with Fortune till the end and look were that got us. Even Sinclair from Liverpool !! Jamie Carragher recently said he’s one of the hottest young prospects since Sterling and lots and good things are been said and he made one appearance. And please don’t give me that shit about not old enough not good enough the championship this year was shite and only 3 clubs looked any good.
With so many players out of contract, players not just good enough who need to be shown the door, and all the loanees heading back it’s going to be a full squad rebuild of a job so don’t be surprised if we fall into a relegation spot. I nearly said another relegation dog fight but we hardly fought this time round.
I didn’t see MK Dons pissin aorund playing this lad in the reserves like we do ;-
Maguire and especially Kim were outstanding and we should do our best to secure both players for next year.
The one big factor that needs addressing is a goal scorer. Its time for 1 or 2 youth to be given a chance. Get Carl Barker in on loan at MK Dons, looks a top prospect. At least Rotherham win means it also takes down those knuckle dragging scumbag barrow boys as well
Flog McClean for as much as and use the money to bring in Maguire and kim fee’s and wages. The only 2 worth keeping.
This saga of “We can stay up” is like having a tooth pulled with grease on the pliers….. face it, were down and if anyone wants to put a few bob on us staying save yourself a trip to the bookies and just throw it down the nearest grid
I’d be very shocked if he’s still here for our Div1 campaign
Would the French 2nd Division the same as our Div1 ?. Time one certain striker to be dragged back and prove his so called worth
But why keep playing him ?, we’ve had options but decided it would be better to send 3 strikers out on loan or buy or bring in loanees then don’t play them.
There are young lads in the youth I would have given a chance over Fortune. We should have gone down trying every option at are disposal not roll over and be done with. Oh no not Latics we decided to stick with a forward who couldn’t hit the side er Haigh Hall with a spacehopper
I read some of the pre match interviews from Pearce and Waghorn and Caldwell and the way they spoke you would have thought we were going to the Wembley arena for WWE chairs and ladders match up not to play football.
I’m sure the Millwall manager picked up on the aggressive talk and used it to their advantage. Well at least all the bullshit talk about staying up can be put to bed and those players who have made this happen leave the club.
I’m still baffled how Fortune got so many starts with such a poor goal scoring when we had one of Liverpools brighest prospects (Sinclair) on loan and he never even made the bench unless he’s injured. With 9 players out of contract at the end of the season, loaness to go back and the likes of McClean to be sold lets hope lessons have been learned. I can see it taking 2-3 seasons in Div1 before we get the whole mess sorted.
I would love to see Latics stay up but if it was due to the fact that Rotherham United were to be relegated after being deducted points I would be gutted for all Millers fans.
After a terrible time at their club, losing Millmor and having points deducted not once but three times, 10,10 and 17 points over three seasons it must be a worrying time and a potentially gutting time to be a Miller. The club survived due to the fans and fought back from being a tenant in Sheffield to move to the fantastic New York Stadium and two promotions. Oh how I wish it was one of the bigger fashionable clubs rather than a smaller provincial club like Rotherham.
But at the end of the day our safety depends on what our lads can do on the field over these next four matches so if we do pip The Millers let us hope it is by four points but I would take a goal difference ,one, two or three point survival gap. There’s rules to abide by, every club has to and people are paid to make rules are upheld within each club.
Do you honestly think Rotherham would give a flying hoot if the boot was on the other foot ? , I very much doubt it. If rules were broke and points are deducted then so be it.Personally I don’t think it will matter in the slightest the gaps too big, a loss or draw against Millwall and Rotherham get something at Fulham and it’s back to square one.
I’ll give McKay his due though, he did try quite a few formations. He did but with the wrong players, Clarke is not good enough it’s as simple as that. And for the people who said Reira, Delort and McKay aren’t good enough can you please tell me how you came to the decision ? purely because the manager didn’t play them ?. Well looking on MacKays performances he might have just got that one wrong as well
So it’s onwards and upwards is it with a rookie chairman’and a rookie manger with a combined age of just 55???
the whole thing smacks of a club not just in turmoil but in very serious decline and I seriously will not be surprised if we are not staring at another relegation in 12 months time and beyond that is too scary to comprehend.
where does it all end is anybody’s guess but these decisions defy logic and he certainly will be taking us back to were he found us in double quick time based on the events of the previous days.
I hope I’m very very wrong!So please tell me your prefered Chairman & Manager ? Whelan & Redknapp ?, Tan & Hoddle ?, Mandrick & Bassett ?.
Take a reality check, plus I heard from a very close source that the players are highly delighted with his appointment and Gazza is well respected amongst the players.Age has nothing to do with it, Caldwell has played at the highest level at both domestic and international level so I would take it that the respect from the players will be there. I would give him 2 seasons to put this mess right and build a team to fire us back into the Championship.
Don’t forget , our most successful times at Wigan have been with ex players as Manager who and have an understanding what were all about. Those who have come in with no idea have have failed. And please don’t put all the blame on managers and chairman, some of the players need to take a good look at themselves and those who don’t give a shit get out the door this summer.
Our 2 most successful managers had strong links with the club. Caldwell will already know which baggage won’t be here next season as I’m sure at some point he’s heard the changing room moaning fookers and those who do and don’t give a dam. I bet they never thought in a million years that their next manager was amongst them ear wagging.
Good luck to the guy and a I heard a rumour from a player tonight saying Caldwells an excellent trainer and will make a v.g manager,
Good luck Gary let’s hope you can sort this gigantic mess out , it will take all of next season just to make sense of this mess .
Well I’m going to go against the tide and say, good choice. I’ve always thought he speaks sense even though I can’t understand him.
I just hope he has sense to give Waghorn or Billy McKay a start at Fulham or the young Liverpool lad Sinclair, nout to lose so throw em in !.
Scott Cars ! he’s got a fat bum chin ! he’s got a fat bum chin!
