Damn shame as we all love a wiganer, but I’m sure his game time would have been very limited as we have so many others that fit the bill better.
Shame we cant swap some for forwards! Is that a fact mighty?
I wouldnt be surprised, and doubt that any fine/points deduction would be significant..remember West Ham…Sheffield still ended up being cheated!.
I hoped that GC would have rung the changes and tried some new faces in his earlier games. Certainly he would have had fullest support then as what had gone before wasnt working and lord knows it couldn’t have got worse. perhaps today he will make surprise selections, but its all too little too late.
I will be on the game as usual but finding it difficult to work up any enthusiasm at all and attend just for loyalty. Frankly at the mo I just don’t care what the result is, we are down anyway.
perhaps when things are are the darkest with minimal expectation the revelation will come….or not!
expect the lowest crowd of season.
But for Whelan we would have been out of business in the early ninetys. Surely the stadium has always been owned by Whelan, or his fund/company, with both Latics and egg chasers tenants. It would be stupid to have the ground owned by either team…the financial risks are way too high.
Donnys nailed it there. He must have made at least 10 valid points, any few of which would put any club in dire straights but to have that many is like signing your own death warrant. Individually they don’t look like much but add em together and disaster. The striker situation is the main one for me it is absolutely baffling and stinks of gross incompetence. Its no wonder that riera and delort wanted away and certainly waggy must be feeling the same having been second, third or even fourth choice all season. In the cold light day we deserve to go down.
Petty post.
Bet the vast majority of latics fans, except perhaps the 1 posting here, would have Bobby back in an instant. The stream of jokers we have had since are no where near his ability.
Ok so he had his faults, substitutions and that standard interview technique was particularly galling, but those were slight blemishes against the huge flaws in the others which have helped to ruin our club.
Can we not stop going on about Bobby now, WTF does it matter to us, we have other things to think about!.
cant find anything about it on line.
if its true..
Jewell in?
If he does read this then he would be well advised to go back to basics.
Pace and appetite plus a touch, indeed just a single touch, of skill is the way.
Come on Cal lets get you back to your best.
those signings do now appear an almost unmitigated disaster.
Except Forshaw? possibly, give it another 3 months..scrape above bottom 3 and be resurgent next season with Malky and a bunch of enthusiastic mainly new players.
The comment on another post about Maloney wanting away is not really surprising. Look at the way he plays for scotland with effort and a smile, but with wigan its all dull and dour. The bloke has let us down major style over last 18m especially after the club stood by him with his “injury”. Major disappointment of attitude lets hope he puts in a semblance of proper graft before he goes so at least we get some proper money in January. What about bobby Campbell for the onfield and off field activities
At risk of being accused of being contrary for its sake…I think that Powell is a cracker and potentially a real star if he puts more effort into it. His control, ease on the ball and pace plus positional sense prove his talent. The “johnny big bollocks” mentality is something thats in his make up and to remove it could well lessen him.
Some of the best ever had that strutting confidence…even before they made it at highest level…think cantona for example…its in thier make up…showmen if you like.
the world would be drab place without them.
Anyway I say more of the strutting but a little more effort as well would go down a treat.
And dont anybody tell me that we wouldnt have had Zaki in his pomp back in a split second, awkward as he was he was a good un.
I agree horc except on Al Habsi where I put Nicholls and Carson ahead of him in his current form.
Is Ramis injured again?…I believe his absence is a massive reason why we havent already got the play offs wrapped up. There is no one else in defence whom is so comfortable on the ball and with passing skills. He could probably do a job in midfield if needed.
Even with all the chopping and changing, I do think we looked tired yesterday. I would put the lack of sharpness and speed of passing, and resultant absence of incisiveness in attack down to that. Also pools midfield played very well in closing down and found us out. Perkins(little blond) and the other tall black guy were good.
In fact we havent played that well for a few games now, only Reading and the FA cup games have showed what we can and ought to be doing.
Think/hope it will go to the wire at Blackburn, but not convinced about how we will do if we actually get to the play offs.
