Burnley obviously deserve to be were they are in the league, however, they have had more than their fair share of luck with injuries, being able to field their strongest team all season. The first time injuries struck to their key players, the wins drastically reduced. [Ings and Vokes being the main crocks]
They have also scavenged a load of 1-0 wins in games that could have swung either way.
If only Uwe had been with us all season, I think Burnley may have had to be content with the play offs. :(
I disagree with the if only bit ! Burnley were 15 points clear of us when Uwe took over and 4 months down the line Burnley are 19 points ahead of us and have also taken 4 points off us! They ground out a good draw at ours and thoroughly deserved their win yesterday. With the squad he has had to work with Dyche deserves all the kudos being aimed at him at this moment!
To be fair to JR, i think his “if only” comment is referring to the fact that if uwe had been with us at the start of the season & therefore starting from scratch, it could have been us rather than burnley in the automatic spots. The fact that burnley have maintained the same points advantage over us from december indicates to me how consistent both teams have been since then.
I just think it is a little unfair on Burnley, they deserve to go up and have been better than us on the whole over the 2 games we played against them !
Another reason not to feel too bothered should we not go back up !

Gomez haters hated him in the prem because he wasnt good enough for the prem but he his a superb championship player as proven in his past championship days
I have never called nor hated Gomez but you are correct in what you say, he was not good enough at the top level but this is his niche ! :)
is your opinion …
incidentally, last game Gomez played against Reading at DW – 3 went in …. Premiership, if I’m not mistaken B)
If Gomez does walk on a Bosman come end of the season, I personally wouldn’t be surprised to see Martinez take a punt on him at Everton
Did he look out of place at Wembley /Arsenal last week, … City /Cup Final last year … did he, did he … no , didn’t think so.
Niche, my a3se
Understand the game !
Reading got relegated that season ! We shall see which Prem sides come in for him should he leave at the end of the season ! Yes, my opinion which I am fully entitled to !

Espinoza was excellent yesterday and his closing down made a big difference to the usual backing off stuff. His energy was boundless ! His assist for Gomez’s goal was brilliant, he could oh so easily have gone down under the challenge ! MOM for me ! :)
Not sure when this took place but he and his family are over the Moon about it ! :)
Published in 2013 Fil, so not that long ago.
Nice to see Paul Jewell up there as well.
Why haven’t we seen you lately Horc? Has Griff frightened you off ! :)
I would give a yellow card to Garswood for using a lower case ‘t’ in the title of the thread for the word ‘the’! :) Any more of that behaviour from a man of his calibre and he will be off!
Will be a good test if Uwe wants to take us up this year !
Why would he not want that?
Are you bored Garswood? :S
LOL – can you hear yourselves? Have you accepted defeat already??The guy assumes that because we are championship and that if Arsenal play their normal game they’ll beat us. In my book that’s complacency.
So what if he’s 18, not a regular, never heard of Wigan and interviewed by a minor website? If he’s giving that sort of public opinion, imagine what the rest of the squad are thinking
Who said anything about accepting defeat ? The young lad just came out with the usual stuff that would be expected of any opposing player prior to a game. He said that it is going to be tough but if they play their usual game they should win etc etc ! What did you expect him to say?
I wouldn’t say that he was being complacent !
Meanwhile back on the subject of the bottom 7 sacked managers ! Yes you are right, too much expectation and pressure put on the gaffers in the land of milk and honey or should that be the land of dried up spunk and tissues !
It is a catch 22 situation for sure ! :silly:
Latics marketing at its finest yet again. This with tickets still available and a shit train service. Both shocking and pathetic Latics!
Er, exactly what is pathetic about it? The fact that there are only 3 days left before the game and they have just four seats left on their last coach tells me that someone has gauged the demand almost perfectly.
It’s not their fault that 6 people can’t get their act together early enough to decide how they want to get to Wembley.
Donny has reeled in more fish this week than Arky has all year ! :P
Looked to me like 9 players where second to every ball so fear of knocks for team selection on Saturday.
Looked to me like 9 players who know there’s absolutely zip chance of them playing on Saturday and therefore couldn’t give a toss last night.
No harm done, as it happens.
No harm done ? Did Brighton, Ipswich and Bournemouth not all win and put themselves just 6 points behind us ! A 9 point cushion with just 5 to play would have been a whole lot easier on the nerves, especially as the aforementioned sides all have winnable on Saturday when we are otherwise engaged !
