I would have thought that the politics surrounding Russia and Croatia would have been more of a hot potato! No dodgy decisions yesterday that I was aware of!
Any team that beats Brazil deserves to win the World Cup! I heard a stat the other day that they have only conceded something like 5 goals in their last 25 games! Now that is impressive stuff!
Who remembers Clive Thomas and the Brazil injury time corner incident?
From the way some of you are talking it sounds like you have gone all ‘Arsenal’, happy with a top 4 finish! Hats off to Belgium for choosing pride over caution, it is that sort of attitude that wins silverware, good luck to them!
Belgium did not prove pride over caution fil did you see Bobbys reaction to their winning goal. He was hoping and expecting a draw so he would finish second and keep face.
The lads on the pitch certainly celebrated the goal! I can imagine what is being said in the Colombian camp right now, something along the lines of “They have disrespected us thinking we are easier opposition, let’s show them what it is like to fear a team” A case of be careful what you wish for and a very slippery banana skin if you ask me! :P

If Brazil had drawn and Switzerland won they would haveIf ifs and ands were pots and pans, there’d be no work for tinkers’ hands ! ;)
Except that City didn’t win “the league”.
They topped Division 2. Liverpool won the League.Oh bloody hell gl, you have to go and ruin it man.
Been doing that loads recently
George the pedant! ha ha ha
I feel Elder would have been found out in The Championship, not good enough in my humble opinion!
Correct me if I am wrong but could the winners of Group G meet either Brazil or Mexico in the quarter finals whereas the runners up in Group G could be on for a meeting against Sweden or Switzerland? Anyone think there could be some own goals tonight!
If I have worked it out wrong then forget it! ha haAll beatable.
I have a friend out in St Petersburg who has a ticket for the next game.
He thought it would be Germany v Brazil.
It’s Sweden v Switzerland. :D
Did he think Brazil would come 2nd in their group? how very naive !

If I have worked it out wrong then forget it! ha haJust like after a Wigan defeat it was all forgotten about within an hour, it’s a game of football at the end of the day! I’ve turned my attentions to Bob’s crew now!
Well that didn’t seem to work! You’ll have to highlight, right click and select ‘Search Google for’ or ‘Go to….’ if you can be arsed! It is a funny image ha ha ha
To be honest, i thought that England played much better in the first half against Tunisia than they did against Panama. Not complaining about the result one bit but the zip, chasing down the opposition & neat passing that carved Tunisia open in those first 45 minutes was missing yesterday. I appreciate that the stifling heat & humidity may have played a large part in that but we didn’t create anywhere near as many chances yesterday as in the first game.
I also worry slightly that out of 8 goals scored, only 2 have come from open play & one of them was a jammy deflection. If we play against a team that can actually defend a corner without fouling they may struggle to score. That said, for the first time I’m enjoying watching England at a World Cup with no expectation & I think reaching the quarter finals should be considered a success for them
And they conceded goals in both games against poor opposition! I like the fact that the expectation levels are rising fast which means bitter disappointment rather than pre-acceptance of failure! ha ha
Bloody ell great viewing last night all because of VAR, Ronaldo was very lucky to stay on that pitch but to let play go on then have a look at it was priceless and exactly the same for Iran’s penalty play carries on and then pulled back it was soft but his arm was horizontal in an unnatural position but not ball to hand oh to be a ref. You’ll not find many who agree with that handball penalty decision! :)
Will we finish above Preston, Blackburn and Bolton? I would like to think so!
