Whether Powel or Bogle are good enough is immaterial. With a week to go until the season opens this should not be the sort ofnews we are hearing.

The fact that this kind of stuff is going on off pitch and players are turning to social media to publicise it really worries me about Cook’s managerial control.

Fair enough if we don’t want players who don’t want to be with us, bit the way this is bein managed is a joke. Not helped by Cook’s comments in the press about McKay or Morsy. Does make you wonder if it’s just injury keeping Grigg, etc off the field.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we start the season with half the squad being youngsters. A far cry from the what we were told a couple of months back about the core of the squad being kept together.

So, before the EU came about we competed with Germany

It’s not difficult to compete for 30 years with a country crippled by its own war, paying reparations and trying to rebuild itself. And while it was rebuilding we rested on our laurels thinking we were cock of the world, got caught up by them and Japan, got overtaken and then took apart our manufacturing industry cos we couldn’t compete any more. Nout to do with us joining the EU and leaving won’t make it any better unless we rebuild like they did.

[An alliance with the DUP no matter how nutty they may be is still preferable to that clown having anything to do with governing our country.

Do you still feel the same knowing now that she’s about to bribe them for that alliance with £1.5bn of our money??

Yootha was set up to fail at Latics. He was shite but he was always chasing the mess left by Caldwell.

Technically the farming and subsequent slaughter of all animals is barbaric – Halal or not.

As an Indian AND someone who has had an insight into the Morris world, it’s definitely not racist, but unless you know about Border Morris you could understand if uninformed people of any background get the wrong end of the stick (no pun intended).

What is wrong though is a traditional folk festivals banning it even though they know it’s not racist and normally sensible organisations like Respect saying the ban shows sensitivity when they too should know that there is no racist connotation.

What next, a black mime artist that isn’t allowed to white up?

First post on here in a long time, but Joyce has driven me back!

No going to vent just yet, but from his comments on Sky last it didn’t sound like he was planning much for the January window and/or that there was any money knocking around.

That did start me wondering whether he has any recent transfer market experience? As I’m guessing at Utd he was just a coach and got his players handed to him? If so we are well and truly fooked.

After the lows of the last couple of years and the incredible achievement this season there’s no complaints from me about yesterday’s result – apart from (as horc witnessed) my 5 year old lad crying from the moment we conceded #2 right until the post match celebrations started. Another true Wigan fan is born.

Huge congrats to Gary, the players, Sharpy, everyone else at the club and our hardy band of fans (core and JCLs alike).

Wigan’s on fire, Championship is terrified ;)

Ignore the instructions above (sorry Barnsley!).

Get Victoria line from Euston to Vauxhall underground (15min max). Go up to Vauxhall overground (5 min walk max) and then get direct train to Brentford (25-30 min). All doable on a zone 1-4 travelcard.

No Martin he’s not, but I’m not sure at this stage of the season and in our predicament that we could have done much better.

Hard to judge him after 2 games, but his team selections in 2 such big games have been massively disappointing.

Lots of people moaning about Waghorn’s behaviour at Millwall, but if Caldwell had bothered to try something new by actually starting him (either on his own or ideally with Fortune) then maybe wevwouldn’t have imploded the way we did and all but confirm the drop.

Team vs Brighton will be the one to watch. If Fortune starts on his own again I reckon my support for Gary and the little faith I have left in the leadership and management at the club will all but evaporate.

Precedence there based on Wimbledon last year and Rotherham have a very tough run in.
