Would be a well-needed miracle if points do get docked. Precedence there for a deduction – prob 3 points to reign back the 3 they got for their win.

It’s the leadership whose head is in the clouds. I can think of several experienced names that could fit the bill, but my gripe isn’t so much Gary (and him knowing and understanding our club is undoubtedly an asset).
My gripe is the process that yet again seems rushed and not thought through.

What experience has he really got? If he was the only candidate, why? Did we really not consider ANYONE else? And if he was such a shoe in, why hasn’t he been part of the 1st team coaching set up for a while to bed him in? Caretaker I get, but so quickly appointed as permanent? Baffling.

He has my support – MM never did – but like Fil I don’t see this ending well.

I’m quite sure others were considered and maybe even sounded out. You don’t really think all this has all happened on the spur of the moment beginning at five to five last night?
Think our posts have crossed. See my answer above. In short, given previous form it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if this all happened in 24 hours.

It’s just the way we pile straight in with little thought it appears. Think we are all United in hoping GC does well. Just hard to be convinced.

You don’t really think this appointment has been made without little thought do you?
I do. And the club has form to suggest it has. Otherwise Coyle, Rosler and Mackay would never have ended up here and wed’ve binned Mackay for a suitable replacement long before we found ourselves well and truly fcuked.

I have more time in my little fingernail for GC than I will ever have for Mackay, but his permanent appointing is baffling esp. as it’s being reported that Sharpy has said he was the only candidate they considered.
Have we learnt nothing from the snap decisions for our last 3 managers? Is Sharpy implying that nobody else was being sounded out? Why even say something like that? What sort of amateurish decision making is this?

I just just just don’t get it, but then again I haven’t got much this season :(

Good luck Gary, but I fear like Hutchings you’re being set up to fail…

Another fckin blinding decision by the WAFC “leadership”.

Finally we have sacked the “manager” that we should never have appointed, but who we’ve persisted with for 3 months longer than we should’ve…but why wait until 5 fekkin games to go? Should’ve gone after Boro at the very latest.
And who the fek is going to want to take over now??

Bunch of fckin clowns from top to bottom making a circus out of a sorry sorry season. Bring back Brenda.

Seems like there is one Nobber with half a brain. Just read a post off a Chorley mon sticking up fot Latics.

horc – what have I told you about your unhealthy obsession with the nob end message boards? ;)

1 up front vs Blackpool at this stage of the season in such a critical game is inexcusable, esp. when that 1 is Fortune. Hope I’m proved wrong.

Last chance saloon today. Lose today and we’re down.

Hi galactic, how are you doing?
How long ago does that Wembley day out seem now?

Can you London Latics not get a consortium together to buy Mr Whelan out, I’m sure you must have some rich city contacts.

Ello horc. Good thanks, you? Yep, we were saying that games like at Wembley and Maribor seem a long long time ago now.
I can’t even get the LLs to get a consortium to get to a game at mo! ;)
Doing the pub crawl to Fulham from mine on Fri 10th April though if yer up for it?

Now, if you ever get over the fact that your mard-arsed sensibilities have been offended because the nasty Malky texted a couple of impolite things once

Impolite??

I wonder how many posters/readers on here are at least one of the following: non-white/ethnic, Jewish/non Christian, female or non-straight?

As if you’re not any if these I can understand why you might think that MM’s or DW’s comments/texts/etc (private or public) might not seem like much…as you’ve probably never had the misfortune of experiencing any casual or hardcore discrimination.

Interesting that there doesn’t appear to be one post on this board remarking on Chelsea fans’ shameful behaviour in Paris the other night.

I wonder what the reaction of our fans would have been if we’d hired a black manager who been caught sending offensive texts about white players?

Rosler raised expectations to ridiculous levels and increased his own profile to the point where maybe they all got a bit carried away and allowed the purchase of probably the worst set of players ever to walk on a football pitch at Latics.

What a load of shite. So it was ridiculous that we got to the playoffs and another semi final was it? Didn’t see you posting that at the time.
And “worst set of players ever”? How long have you been watching us, since Jewell got us promoted?

Reading the comments on this thread and others, fans and club alike have thrown in the towel, so what chance have we got?

“Just a blip” they said.
“It’s the players” they said.
“Trust in Malky” they said.
And now it’s well and truly gone tits up?
“Well, we’re just back where we started. It was never gonna last and we should be grateful for what we had.” they say.

Jesus wept.

Careful Tez – the last time s.o posted about our pitch and insulted the thugby, Egg took offence and locked the thread.

I think that the ‘evidence’ is there for all to see. The fact that we did manage to get that draw despite not having the ‘star’ players and using what he had at the time, to me, shows that those who have departed wanted no more of this club.

Finally, I’ll end by echoing The Egg’s sentiments in that I too want to see him have the time to put this right, and I firmly believe that he will.

Are you still sure about that evidence? And how much more time are you prepared to give him?

Recent events at the DW have finally explained the real reason behind our lacklustre displays this season.

What?? And exactly what evidence are you basing this on? The fact that we managed to get a clean sheet draw away from home against a top 4 team in our first game without our “rotten core”. As there is no more evidence than that at the moment. Shame on you for such blinkered rantings.

Why is it that so many on here can’t see past the players for why we’re in so much trouble?

Trent – so unless they stay at Wigan putting in a shift they can’t win right? If she doesn’t drown she’s a witch, if she does drown at least we know she wasn’t.

And JR – really? Not like you that post. Couldn’t it be possible that the reason Maloney played so well for Scotland was because he was motivated to do so through strong management and good tactics?
