We shouldn’t be starting Scotland anymore. If we can get a few more goals we will win. Martinez will take us far.
Scotland played well against sjoke and we crumbled once he went off![/quote]
Same happended against Everton too I recall. Nobody seems to be looking at the form of Hugo over the last couple of months…realise he’s playing out of position, but even so it’s not been scintillating.
Maybe we should start Scotland with either Moses or Moreno and bring Hugo on from the bench for impact?
Are you telling me that Terry’s off field antics and the continued media hounding would have no effect on the rest of the team or their performance?
Capello’s action on this – like the rest of his strong discipline – has sent a clear message about how teammates need to behave, whilst also acknowleding that Terry is still a key player that England can ill afford to lose.
Leave him in as captain and he’s condoning Terry’s behaviour. Leave him out of the team and he’s weakening the squad. Good middle ground to quickly maintain stability (in the camp and in the press) given that there’s only 4 months to the World Cup.Cwyka was on the bench a couple of games back.
Also, we only had one defender on the bench today, but 3 strikers – irrespective of the result/their performace, that was good to see.I win!!That pretty much sums up how childish this board has become. I miss Rivals – at least then we had fans from other boards to berate rather than all this childish James v Griff, Dark vs Light in-fighting.
Quality news – always pleased to see our joke of a police force get one in the eye.
Asst Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said: “We were disappointed with the outcome as we make no profit from policing matches and follow Association of Chief Police Officers’ national charging guidelines.
Good job you’ve profited from all those speeding fines you issue then
“Since the dispute, we have developed a good working relationship with Wigan Athletic.”
Not surprised – no way you’re going to risk getting done for half a mill again now are you?
Certainly do after toneet – 65% of the possession in the first half yet we only had 2 shots on target to County’s 6.
Didn’t take long for your renewed optimism (“This time next week” post) to fly out of the window!
Nothing about our season surprises me any more. Let’s just hope this latest embarrassment provokes a reaction for the game against Sunderland.
No chance – Sunderland have to break their duck at some point and clubs always seem to do it against us. Plus Brucey will have a point to prove.
I reckon we’ll be closer to 18/19 more points but still beat the drop.
Must be on for at least point at Chelsea too – they or (maybe Utd or Arsenal) will have the title wrapped up by then and none of their players will want to risk injury before the CL final (if they’re in it) or the world cup!!
Not sure which was my favourite ever match – Reading and Arsenal defo up there – but probably Leeds away.
Result was unbelievable and took us 5 points clear if I remember rightly? Also notable for the brilliant “The team is Wigan, the miracle is Paul Jewell” feature on the front page of Monday’s Guardian sport section.
But even more memorable for the comments from a Leeds fan on a local radio phone in on the way home, who couldn’t believe they’d lost to us. The radio presenter explained why we were so good, but all the fan could reply was “Burr its Wiggun?!?!?!”However, the BEST ever match I’ve seen has to be the play off final against Gillingham (and weirdly the highlights have just been shown on Late Kick Off). Apart from the result that game had everything…though in some ways I think not getting promoted that day was a blessing in disguise as we’d probably have come straight back down…and the last 10 years would probably never have happened
That’s not what Dowie said reporting for Gillette Soccer Saturday.Dowie
Whelan is a fine businessman, but is obviously better at selling things than buying. He might well be better at selling than buying Vat, but he’s a pretty atrocious seller too. Look at all our players he’s shop windowed for loads and then let go for a snip…and there’ll be a few more like that by the summer in Figgs, Rodders and the Zog.
Anybody else think that £5m sounds a bit steep for a striker that spent his first season with the team that ended up bottom of the division, and who is now playing Div 2 football?
(Mind you he did play for my fave Argey team River Plate, so must have summat about him)
(And I suppose we did buy Heskey for £5m-ish from relegated Birmingham after a season where he scored less than Ruben did for Rec Huelva)
Boyce is good enough, but not at CH – we need to drop Mario and stick Boyce in at RB where he used to be.
