FFS – why are only the players to blame? Why is Malky fckin bullet proof to almost everyone on here?

The set of players we have is a mix of Bob’s, Coyles, and Uwes plus a hasbeen from Malky. These players kept us up in the prem, won us a cup, got us to the semis of said cup and to the playoffs. They don’t become shit overnight. The rest that came in the summer are also good players – I don’t for a second believe they are not. Why do you think they don’t want to play??

The problem is the management. Coyle had no tactics. Uwe had attractive tactics, but for some bizarre reason u-turned on them from April and refused to stop rotation. Mackay has offered nothing new and isn’t willing to try anything new even, when things are going so do wrong.

None of this is to do with my views on his impact on the club off the field. Purely from a footballing perspective:

If Mackay is unable to make an impact with what he has got he is not a good enough manager. Even Coyle had us unbeaten at home for 10 games and succeeding in Europe with what he had hastily cobbled together. Even Uwe managed to get us playing immediately with virtually no new players.
If Mackay is unable to motivate any players to perform then he is not a good enough manager – and allowing him to stumble on through thus transfer window will be a huge mistake
If Mackay is prepared in our predicament to release players at the start of the transfer window without having replacements lined up then he is not a good enough manager.
If Mackay isn’t even able to get a team with playing no strikers to keep a fckin clean sheet for 60 seconds then he is not a good enough manager.

Almost twice what you got for the all-premiership cup game against Hull – and that wasnt on a Monday night. ;-)

Here he is again. So predictable you popped up on this thread. Go on impress me by telling me you’ve got a bot that alerts you when someone posts sthg about crowds, and that you don’t just sit there staring at the screen with your hand down your keks waiting for such a post to pop up…

plenty time to nurture him into the team.

Aye – we’ll probably be back in League 1 before Malky gets round to putting him into the team JR ;)

As for a 6mill contract in the US, how stupid would he have to be to turn it down?

Not that stupid as if my maths is right that’s less than he’s on now or was offered in November to stay.
So if it’s down to money he’s been pretty dumb to take the Galaxy contract – but then again he is a footballer…

First chance I’ve to respond, but to cover most comments…

Yes Roy shrewd management and stars aligning with Jewell did get us to a place we should never have got to. But that proves why this is not just a 4-6 month blip – if anything 2003-2013 was the blip and we are now resetting back into a more natural position for a club of our size.

I never said this was the end forever and we’d never rise again, but the likelihood in the near future, nippleslip, of us getting another footballing, town loving, rich chairman like DW and combining he/she with a successful ex Wigan manager to confound the odds again is very remote.

You can’t blame players Egg without some of that blame going to the management (team and club). Tez is right that it’s madness that we haven’t even slightly blooded our expensive new signings, even when the existing ones haven’t performed.

Martin is also right – the business model is flawed, mainly because it lacks vision. Back in ’95 DW had a vision and he achieved it 10 years later, but not long after he didn’t set another one. Bob came in helped with that, but now he’s gone and we’re back to not having any clear direction except “Get back in t’ Premier”.

Finally, it was Hutchings that signed Bramble, not Bruce – and IMO he was our best CB after Arry…so was well worth the money, esp. as he came on a free.

Why God forbid he’ll get another round of applause? He’s bang on with everything he’s said. It’s the media who are the Nazis. Why would you not stick up for one of your own against them?
This is Latics against everybody else, shouldn’t be any infighting over this.

Seriously? You genuinely think he’s bang on with everything he said??
And since when is this Latics against the world? Let’s stick two fingers up at the establishment like we’ve been doing for years now through our football, but I’m not going to stick up for anyone dragging my club into such a mess for non-footballing reasons, epecially as it is clearly now having an impact on the field too.

I don’t actually think he said anything as wrong this time, he was just stating a historical fact – just like someone might say “30-40 years ago we used to call Asians WOGs”, but why say it at all on top of everything that has gone on? Sheer stupidity and I for one will never stick up for one of our own acting in stupidity.

Another thing that has been bothering me is why are the blacks of this nation, and those across the pond, so au fait with calling each other Nig*** yet if someone else says the word all hell breaks loose. Are there two meanings to the word, one of which I’m unaware of?

It’s about black people taking control back over a word that has represented decades of racist abuse and oppression. By them owning that word they are dampening the effect of non-blacks using it against them. Much like the way Asians (Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis) refer to themselves as Pakis.

Anyone remember a few seasons back when we played liverpool at the DW & all the scousers, oops sorry liverpudlians, oops sorry, people from liverpool were all wearing those suarez t-shirts. He was banned for racist remarks. I believe he apologised, the matter was forgot about & everyone moved on. Why cant we as a club, dave whelan & more importantly malky mckay be allowed now to move on. They’ve all apologised so everyone should forget about it & as i say, move on.

Yeah but how many of us here weren’t having a pop at Liverpool when they stood by him eh? Funny what happens when the shoe’s on the other foot.

Have to say I’m pleased they’ve have dropped us. I can’t stand their logo on the back of the shirt where a player name should be. Looks all wrong.
When she first saw the team in the new kit my 6 year old daughter asked if everyone’s surname was Range.

Can understand your point of view Galactic just like I could understand James McCleans right to live up to his principals but how can you critisise Whelan for using a derogatory term and use an offensive word like Loon yourself.

I wasn’t actually referring to DW’s comment abotu Jews, but you’re right Donny and I apologise for that. I know it’s not an excuse, but I honestly, genuinely did not know that the term “loon” was offensive.

I think the embarrassment comes from the situation this has created and now engulfs the club rather than what was said.

I think we need to get some press releases out like this one. I have a feeling Boycey is on a damage limitation exercise of his own.

                            https://twitter.com/EmmersonBoyce/status/535503851973902337

Exactly Tez – that’s what I was referring do in my drunken late night vent. It’s not what Malky sent by text nor what DW said about Jews that bothers me, but the context in which all of this had taken place and the bad light it’s now shining on the club.

With Coyle and Rolser he made snap decisions on managers and in IMO has done the same with Malky. I think he will be good for the team, but all the baggage he’s coming with is massively unhelpful and DW just added fuel to the fire.He didn’t look at the bigger picture.

Of course I’m not innocent of being slightly racist/homophobic/sexist/ageist whatever. But when I do lapse it’s not in the public eye nor as a role model to all ages, creeds, colours, faith, sexes and sexual orientations.

If he’d just said MM is the best man to get Wigan promoted and anything else is a private matter for MM and the club to deal with that would’ve been fine.

Watched it onth telly with a few of the London Latics and can only describe the first 75 min as utter garbage. As bad as we were at the end of Coyle’s reign – and Coyle had a lot more on his plate to deal with.

We basically have no midfield and a poor back line. How Kiernan is keeping Barnett out of the side I don’t know.
Shame Macca had to go off so early. We totally fell apart after that and only recovered once Waghorn came on….for only his second 10-15min in 3 games – wtf?

Yet yet again Rosler is proving naieve at this level. Why on earth he did he decide after our 4-0 win vs Birmingham and a 2 week break to blood his fresh signings in a local derby away from home?
And then allow and defend a defender to take a pen
And say “it broke his heart” to leave out one of our best players at Huddersfield, but only bring him on with 15 min to go today?
And suddenly switch to a possession rather than pressing approach?

We have got players who can play and a team that could be incredible – but they’re fooked without decent tactics and management….and Uwe is way off those at the moment.

Was thinking the same myself. It must be cos there was nothing to moan about or that everyone is just relieved that there is still some good, energetic, attacking and defensive football in the team.

I was dreading a bad result as the Blackpool win didn’t fill me with confidence, and whilst Brum may have been poor, I think the result was just what we all needed. Shame we’re now into an international break, but perhaps knowing that 2 weeks of moping over a draw/loss would not be fun is what motivated them.

                                  Or – to put my pessimist hat on – perhaps everyone wanted one last chance to shine before the window shuts :{
