I only Abba brief recollection of him, but seem to recall that he was an afjordable centre back with unfulfilled potential.

It has to be said that the quality of the posts is fairly sub standard as far as jokes go !

I disagree. Some of them tickled Myfanwy bone.
Have to agree with Standish – nice to see such a popular and friendly thread after seeing a multitude degenerate into dark/light tiffs. Amazing what a bit of cheer does eh?

Them Red Arrows have been busy this weekend, haven’t they? Another whoosh!!
Griff, you know that I often add to play on words joke threads. No whoosh at all mate but some very dodgy jokes which is what I was saying, unless of course you thought I was actually being serious which would be a ” Whoosh ” right back atcha !!
I do however find it quite ironic that the intentional thread was hijacked because any thought of Jonesy actually managing a Prem club simply cannot be taken seriously by Latics fans and rightfully so !!
        ;)
Ahem, I don’t think the Whoosh was aimed at you Phil….
You could be right there !! Whoosh right back at me then !! I actually think it was aimed at 2 people and I was one of them !
Nope, it was solely aimed at Galactic. Not everything is about you, Phil ;)
And not everything on this board is judged purely by the people who post the most! Whoosh or no whoosh…funny or not…I stand by my post! :)

A rare bit of humour on a normally belligerent forum !!

Next season when we play at the Liberty is there any chance I could get a lift in your Car filly?
Wales wasn’t a lucky place for Jonesy to live in wasn’t it?. A large tree in his garden got struck with lightening, toppled over and caved his Ruthin, didn’t it?.

Yeah, but he’s so tough he didn’t Caer, dydd he?

Well if he is offered the job he’ll take it…….Jonesy is not one to Welsh on a Deal.

I think the media are looking at the deal from a different angle. See what you mean though.

So if you want to trawl the websites like News-now and other media rumour mungering sites, then that’s up to you, but don’t come back on here moaning about this situation being like a circus.

What’s wrong in expressing frustration with what clearly is a ridiculously hyped and speculated topic JR? I’ve never witnessed anything like this, so surely this site is one place you would come and discuss (sorry “moan” about) it.
And how different is it to viewing and commenting on betting odds, which are clearly built on the same lies and rumours that we’re reading??

But why give him a whole week? Why not increase the pressure by given him 72 hours?
This dance has gone on long enough – surely Bob must already have his mind made up one way or another?

Unless Whelan has got someone significantly better than Bob lined up who is willing and able to keep/improve this squad and continue with the current ethos, why on earth would he want to get rid of Bob now??

As for Bruce returning – whilst I was impressed by what he achieved (until we just stopped playing in February) – he would be a major step sideways if not back from where we are now.

He wouldn’t be jumping on a plane to Boston if he wasn’t interested ! It will be Liverpool Football club’s decision and not Bob’s as in my opinion he will have made his mind up barring crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s !!

Just because he’s going for talks in Boston doesn’t mean he’s made up his mind if he’s offered the job. The Mail is saying he spoke to Villa yesterday, that the talks were positive and that Bob was giving the offer serious thought. Yeah right.

In my line of work I regularly throw my hat in the ring for jobs that I don’t want, don’t think I’ll get or don’t think I’d be able to do, as it’s a great way to market yourself, build relationships, demonstrate ambition, practice and learn and seed longer term opportunities.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Bob is doing something similar, esp. as he’s under the gaze of the world’s media, biggest clubs and highest profile managers.
Also, given that FSG are showing him enormous respect by courting him, Bob would be foolish and disrespectful not to accept their invitation to talk.

Plus, would you turn down an all expenses trip to the States to talk to a competitor if your boss said you could??!

If he goes it wont be the end of the World ! He had a 3 year plan and he delivered the goods albeit at the last minute but all will not be lost if we can keep the majority of the players that clicked because credit does go to those just as much as it does the manager, if not more !! Lets just say he goes and the new guy takes us higher !

Err, since when was his 3 year plan to narrowly escape relegation every year for 3 years?
Didn’t Bob talk about top 10 finishes and Europe when he first joined?

Certainly not a case of job done – in fact I think the job had only just started.

Despite concern when we first got him and ambivalence about him remaining when we were not performing, I am now concerned that his departure will send us back to square one. No guarantee that a new coach will stick to the same philosophy.

Even if Bob stays there are no guarantees that this recent form will stay with us come August, esp. as the ultra-hyping of our 3-4-3 means that we no longer have the element of surprise.

Bob is a sensible guy – he must know that the Liverpool job is a poisoned chalice. Both Hodgson and Dalglish lasted less than 2 full seasons – there’s no way Liverpool would give Bob even that long.

On the flip side, are Liverpool really going to take a risk on a still novice top flight manager who has, on paper at least, arguably served up 2.5 seasons of dross before coming good?

Hmm – quite interesting hat the lower end of the table is pretty much as is, but all a bit speculative…becuase if certain goals had/had not stood, then that might have changed the whole complexion of the game and led/not led to other goals.
