Of course…….he’s playing a blinder so far and that’s why someone else needs to be given the next 21….
We all agree with that, but no matter how much you harp on or vote with your feet like Dave, it wain’t happen.
I think we all must agree that the defending part of the problem has been addressed, I’m man enough to admit Kipre has done superb since linking up with Naismith. I’ve gone on record saying I thought he was the worst defender we’ve had, his positional play was woeful, but credit to Cook he’s found a formula that works. As anyone mentioned that by the way? If he gets the striking element right, as we are now creating a lot more chances this past 6-7 games, then we could turn the corner.
I’m hoping he gives Gelhardt a start at Brum just to see how he performs. Coming on for 15 mins running against tired legs will be a big difference than doing 90 mins chasing defenders down, chasing back to tackle midfielders in addition to running at fresh legs.
We start our season at Birmingham let’s see if we can get the rewards our current play deserves. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Yes I agree its a results based industry and the results that matter Donny are those after 46 games not 23.
There’s quite a few posting on this thread that had their tails between their legs in May this year after beating like spoilt school kids for near on a full season.
I don’t want to start a cyber battle between Lightsider and dark side, but we are talking about grown ups here. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey! Now that everyone has calmed down and had time to think seriously about the game without “a cook out” head on, how the fuck did we lose that. ?
Missed penalty, Byrne’s one on one break away miss, a second nailed on penalty and a rake of other half chances against basically one glancing header that could have gone anywhere.
I think Forest only got out their own half 3 or 4 times in the second half.
So losing that game was all down to Paul Cook eh?
I want him out, but FFS, that was a fekin awesome performance that was all about the fine margins Cook has bleated on about all season.
It left me feeling gutted for Cook the players and fans that get behind them week in week out. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I think we will win by the odd goal
or Mr Cook might be on the dole.We start every game like a Lion and finish it like a mouse,
There’s only one place for Cook if we lose today and that is Brocol House. From Matlock to ManU

What a journey! If people other than Latics fans call our club I become the incredible hulk and turn into this monster who wants to rip peoples heads off. People who know me will be aware that I have been involved in many a fist cuff particularly with the chubster fans who have belittled our club for the full duration of my 50 years supporting them. I’m not proud of it but by the same token I don’t regret doing it as in the main I’ve been the retaliator not the initiator.
However, when our own fans have a go and I mean the ones who’ve been around since the non league and early football league days, I think they deserve the right to have a go and can take it. What I do take issue with is those same calibre of fans who show a hatred almost to our club, manager and team. I’m absolutely cheesed off with Paul Cook and his plastic backroom staff and have wanted him out for months, however I support Wigan Athletic, not Paul Cook Athletic or IEC Athletic. I have no intention of turning my back on the club and will moan like the next man, but still get behind the manager and team on match day.
As George has allured to in his many posts, we are all not happy with our current predicament, what some of us can see however, is that the performances have not deserved the results. If we were getting outplayed every week perhaps I might have a different view but we are not.
Cook is here to stay, for this season anyway, no matter how many dolls fans throw out the cot, so its pointless getting your knickers in a twist over it. I’ve got a feeling that the next win, whenever it comes, will see more to follow. The second half of the season will be more fruitful than the first.
So that’s my cards on the table, I am once again a Lightsider but with a few dark roots poking through. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Never felt as gutted after a game in my life.
Played really well today, some of the best football I’ve seen from the team for a while. Great goal from Garner which should have won the game and then booosh, can’t defend a corner. I’m not angry with the players or management after watching that, just gutted for them.
Will we turn the corner?, still not sure. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!IMO….2pts lost against an average side.Fek me posters have spent ages telling us how a better manager Mowbery was, how well Blackburn have done, we more than match them, they suddenly become an average side.
Come on make your feking minds up, this was a great point and your trying to diss it.From Matlock to ManU
What a journey! You need to do better than that donny/jeff.
Yes but we can not argue that four shots on target is pretty pathetic. Cook as either got to take a close look at his negative approach or just admit hes failed and go.
We were getting no shots on target not too long ago so 4 against a team that everyone was saying we should emulate, is not as bad as you make out. Lighten up a bit buddy even the media was full of praise for us. Don’t let your yearning for another manager step in the way of a decent performance.
What’s your view on Blackburn being outplayed for long periods by a team bottom of the league? From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Lee Evans was superb in the playmaker role tonight. Loss count of the defence splitting through balls he made.
I’ve got a feeling one win might spark a run. How must stoke fans be feeling, spent a fortune preseason and booosh, bottom of league at Christmas which usually means doomed. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Great point, should have been 3 on chances created.
Everyone was bumming Blackburn up before the game, so bossing them for long periods, more efforts on goals, commentators saying you would think Wigan was the team fighting for promotion, means no negatives from me.
The biggest plus was seeing out 7 mins of injury time. Unbeaten in 3, Nick Powell’s Stoke bottom of the league,a win on Saturday could kickstart our season. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Id sooner go and spend the money on giving that tramp who sits outside of Burger King something to eat.My lad was giving a homeless guy half of his pizza the other day and he refused saying “have you any spare money? ” Just goes to show beggers can be choosers!

What a journey!Totally agree……I would like to pose a question to certain posters who say Cook can’t be sacked because of the financial implications concerning the FFP rules. Where has this info come from and where is the proof that our club would fall foul of these rules ?. Are the posters party to all the recent financial documentation ? and are they in regular dialogue with the board ?…..Would like to see facts supporting the continued presence of Cook as manager. Now for the facts regarding the reasons for dumping him……well they’re there for everyone to peruse………..and getting worse by the game…….Win only tomorrow …..no more bull from him.I think these facts say it all “He’s still our manager”
From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Nah……I think he’s comments are fair, and at present he’s proved he’s a far superior manager to our lost cause. League table proves that.
Better manager, better players, better club, in all honesty. I can’t actually believe we have sold 1800 tickets for it. Absolute gluttons for punishment, I think.
Worries me big time, because they are not going to sack Cook over the festive period, so he will still be here when the transfer window starts…I wouldnt give Cook a penny.
Things dont look very good at the moment.
Why do you keep having a go at the fans just cos they support their team?. We all know how bad we are doing away from home, but a team is for life not just for the good times. If you don’t want to go that’s your perogative, don’t keep having a pop at the loyal supporters there is no need for it.

What a journey!Fek me I don’t know about arguing with the 4th official he’ll be head butting um!
