I’ve said it once on here and I’ll say it again. I have watched Sunderland on tv against Blackburn and City and once live at the DW. A big well done to “MON” but you have got mullered in all 3 games deserving no points yet getting 9. Its a results business and fans love to see their team win, but the real football fans know if their team has performed win draw or lose. If you think that Sunderland have become a team challenging for Europe [thats what some of the pr-icks were saying on talkshyte last night], then you are as deluded as yon barcode men who think they are challenging for similar honours.
Whilst listening to your “1800” traveling supporters last night singing premier league your having a laugh, I can only presume that they had forgotten 2 things,
1) We are one of the few teams who have never been relegated from the EPL.
2) We took all 3 points from the SOL just over a month ago and probably got your last manager sacked.

What a journey! In the build up to the Sunderland game most on here were talking about a win putting us back in the mix, onwards and upwards. We lose the game, Bolton win a game, go a massive one point clear of us and now we are certs to go down.
Having seen every Prem team now the season is entering its second half, I have seen a lot more than 3 teams who are worse than us, one being Sunderland last night. Owd purple nose SAF has always said that things start getting serious at the top end of the prem round about easter time. The same can be said about the bottom. Norwich and Swansea are around 5 points worse off than Blackpool was this time last season.Nuff said! ;)

Anyone for fishing?Wrong again maggot brain, I grew out of fishing when I was 13, just under 40 years ago. ;)

What a journey!I would hate to see Diame or Moses go, they are two with potential to be top premier league players. They are both well away from being the finished product yet, but in 2 years time could potentially be £15m -£20m players the way the market is going.
If I was Whelan I’d be making these two the top earners in the club, which may just help us stay in the prem this season. In addition they will provide our illustrious chairman with a nice little war chest that we’ve all been looking for since hitting the prem. Who would have thought that it would be DW himself that may be the benefactor of the famous “war chest”As for Rodders, he’s done well for us over the past few years but struggles in Bobby’s lone striker formation. I wouldn’t lose too much sleep if he went as long as he is replaced and we don’t have to rely on Di Santo and Sammon. These two “at the moment” are good bench players at best.

What a journey!Must admit the fishing thing has gone totally stale now and very rarely gets a response apart from the usual gang of cronies.
Its a bit like the 4.8 and 2.6 nonsense that was the rage 12 months ago, gone well past its sell buy date and is something a 12 year old would find funny.

What a journey! And bringing MoMo on with 4 minutes plus stoppage time while loosing 4-1??? I suggest they were both fit and Bob dropped a bollock.
To be fair, Diame was waiting to come on from the 79th minute, but Bob doesn’t like to make his subs quickly, hence he was milling about till the 86th minute, not that coming on with 11 minutes left would have been a masterstroke.
You obviously didn’t see the Stoke game on new years eve. ;)

What a journey! He must be laughing all the way down the motorway tonight, cant see him worrying too much about us tonightAnd do you really think more than 3-4 of the players on show tonight will playing Saturday.
Don’t think so some how, so wasted trip for the ref pusher!

What a journey!I was discussing team selections with Paul Jewell when he did the questions and answers dinner at Haigh hall the other year. He said to me that supporters are great at picking the team after the match and I knew were he was coming from.
The team put out in the first half tonight played really well, created quite a few decent chances, knocked it around OK and got into Sunderland’s face winning more second balls than they lost.A bit of luck and we could have been saying what a great tactical master stroke by Bobby playing Crusat and Watson. Crusat setting up 2 or 3 good chances and Watson hitting the inside of the post when he should have tucked it away.
What happened in the second half is typical of a team especially us when chasing the game.
The biggest mistake that bobby made tonight was taking Stam off when he did. Ronnie was linking up well down the right and got some superb crosses in. The man that should have gone off was McCarthy. He did a lot of huffing and puffing, kept Cattermole quiet till he was subbed, but did nothing going forward. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I have watched Sunderland in their last 3 matches twice on telly and once live and they have got 9 points despite looking an awful team. Battered by Blackburn and then by City but scrounged the points.
Call it the luck of the Irish or what you want but they certainly should have been put to bed in the first half tonight.Three more poor refereeing decisions cost us dearly in the last few minutes, the first being it was a corner for us not a goal kick as we moved into first half stoppage time. Their keeper was rushing like a mad man to prevent it from going behind the line, why would he do that if it had come off our player?.
Secondly Moses was clearly fouled as he ran down the left wing on 48 mins and the ref waved play on. Then with 30 secs on the clock he gave them a nonsense free kick that led to their goal. When you see Wigan players surrounding the referee arguing their point, its usually safe to say they had one. Stam got booked for his troubles. The defending for their second half goals was keystone cop stuff, but I still felt we looked the better all round team.
When are we going to get a game where either a} the ref gives us a dubious decision that results in us winning the game or b] we get totally outplayed for 90 mins and snatch an undeserved winner.
Other teams have games like that surely its going to be our turn sometime. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!Apparently he is the first palyer to ever come off the bench to score a penalty with his first kick.
He also bags the fastest goal scored by a substitute.John Aldridge replaced Peter Beardsley to come on and score a penalty in the 9-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace in September 1989.
He was signing for Real Sociedad the very next day so Dalglish brought him on to take the penalty for sentimental sake.
Not sure if that’s the only other one.
Sorry Jay.
Yes but John Aldridge always did that Liddelesque shimmy before striking the ball, that may have added that little bit of extra time after the refs whistle was blown.
Ben might still be in the record books. :P

What a journey!I don’t know about games from non -league divisions but the ones I’ve seen on SKY and ESPN involving league one, League two and even Scottish prem teams, the football is absolutely awful.
It makes me realise how good the EPL is with respect to tactics, skill, quality of football etc.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve been watching the tics from their non league games but my god, its so boring watching 11 donkeys plonking the ball about with their heads down, not putting 3 passes together with the ball spending more time in places like our old sand pit at Springgy than actually on the field of play.
I remember watching a game a few months back from the lower leagues and my lad said, “do they use the same ball as what they use in the prem”
It was like a balloon flying around with nobody able to put a foot on it, control or pass it. Fair do’s the pitches are often crap, but pay to watch it, would I hell us like.Filmoss you are better off saving your money and having a dabble on the nags, there are loads of meetings over this period and horses are far better to watch than donkeys. ;) :woohoo:

What a journey!”Wouldn’t reed too much into who the referee is”.
We shouldn’t rest on our Laurells though. From Matlock to ManU
What a journey!I just loved it when that shythouse Bellamy got a good rap in the face. He was chunnering like an owd washer woman whilst being subbed, blood streaming down his face.
A great example of a little shyte who can give it, but can’t take it.
PS He did score two goals though!!

What a journey!I think there could be a twist in the taleHe apparently doesn’t like reffing on a cold rainy day in December. He would sooner be blowing his whistle on a warm Sommers day. :P
