Nothing against the sport personally (went to the 2013 WC Final) but the core problem with the RL World Cup is there are 3 proper teams and the rest really do make up the numbers.
Paul Jewell ?
Big Sam ?
Roberto ( Di Mateo )?
Ryan Giggs ?
HORC ?
Donny’s Page ?Steve Kean
Shaun Wane :woohoo:Just seen the news on Facebook.
As I said before, IMHO he deserved longer; at least until after the Derby game for me.
Haven’t thought yet who I’d like as his replacement. What I would say to those who were calling for his head, be careful what you wish for. Never forget, when we wanted the Tinkerman out we got McKay
Nothing on the website about replacement so presumably Barrow takes charge on Saturday
We then win the next 2 games and well….1) To be fair lowey, possession style of football is way better than the kick long & hope for the best style of football. Possession football when played right can be very good to watch & the end product can be brilliant.
2) Yesterday, however few chances we created, (& sometimes maybe give credit to the opposition for that) we are simply not taking those chances. Whichever style, formation or tactics a team sets out to play, football is about scoring one more goal than the opposition – which as i say we are not doing. Whether that is down to woeful shooting, an excellent save by the keeper, a shot just wide or hits the woodwork, the chances we are making are currently not being executed.
3) IMO we dominated that game up until they scored. That one goal simply knocked the stuffing out of us. I could see that & i am sure so could others.
4) Nick powell has been a disgrace (again IMO) since he returned to our club & i saw it as a blessing when he went off. Young byrne was brilliant when he came on. But if i had to name just one player who summed up the jonny big bollox in all of my 38 years watching latics, he would be it.
5) Following their goal, caldwell should have quickly changed his mind & subbed either power or perkins & put lefondre on with grigg (who looked p155ed at being subbed). I agree, bringing davies on – & no disrespect to him, meant there was no place for a game changer ie, gomez. I agree, that, he did get wrong.
6) Should we sack him. One word answer NO! IMO things just are not going right for us at the moment. We are playing ok, but as i said earlier, we need to start scoring. He has sorted us out defensively, but we now need to master the art of scoring goals & i do believe we will be alright once we have mastered that. I for one prefer caldwell’s style of football to that of bobby’s. Some might argue that it is entirely the same. Yes it is to a degree, but caldwell’s style is played at a quicker tempo. Bobby’s style bored me to tears.
& now, i await the backlash from the usual suspects ;)
If I am considered a usual suspect then so be it but I have said give him 3 maybe 4 more games to turn things around, and if things don’t improve then get rid because we will just end up in the same situation as last time we plied our trade in this division!
Yes, Derby home game for me is the key moment.
For me he’s safe till then, but if we’re still in the bottom 3 after that game the knives will be out…
For me Caldwell is not (or should not) be in danger yet.
This is an incredibly long season and we’re not quite 1/4 way through so a little early to be pulling the trigger IMHO.
That said, we do need to see real signs of progress pretty soon.
I reckon the key time will be the Derby home game on 3rd December. If we’re still in the bottom 3 after that game, then the manager’s position for me will be seriously in doubt.
The black clouds really formed over the ground today; was that an omen for Caldwell?
Yes, would have settled for a point before start of play.
Stopped the rot of away defeats following on from Tuesday’s win.
Time to regroup over the international break and a very winnable ( :S ) home game next.
When we want Coyle’s opinion we’ll ask for it
I will second that.
Our record signing, including Ryan Taylor going the other way. Newcastle worked out it was the only way they could stop him scoring against them
Kept us up virtually single handed in 2010-11; who could forget the winner against Spam to send them down….
That goal against Arsenal in April 2010 when we had been 2-0 down with 11 min to go. Watson scored to make it 1-2 (sure he scored another famous goal for us…it’s my age, damned if I can remember where or when it was), Titus B headed over the line when the keeper fumbled it 2-2. Then Fig “belts it long for Rodellega to chase”, Hugo passes to Charlie and bangs it in off the post, keeper rooted to the spot.
What memories those were…cheers Charlie and have a good night’s sleep B)
Can’t beat a good long ball to rekindle the Fire
Yes it wasn’t pretty at times, but a win is a win and takes us out of the drop zone.
Finally tonight we started leaving not one, but two up when defending corners.
Gareth southgate for the next 4 gamesThankfully we don’t have any penalty shoot outs coming up
A fluke goal against the overall run of play to win 1-0.
The perfect retort to Friday night’s debacle :woohoo:
Yes, we will play a lot worse and win this season (Friday anyone?)
Fulham are bogey team number 1. I think I read that’s now 17 games without a win against them (Oct 2005 Chimbonda last second header), which is our longest win less run against any league team
Hopefully we’ve steadied the ship after a rocky run and can now move forwards into mid table safety.
I’ve given it 24 hours to consider the situation.
We should all be here to support our club, and after yesterday by fook do they need us. This is not a time for deserters.
Very long way to Norwich on Tuesday for the stalwarts; just remember to turn off the M6 near that town named after men with odd shaped balls. Over and out…. :woohoo:
I see you are gloating mutty about a latics fan getting banned from a latics site for hating something majority of us latics fans hate
That why you came on this site because of what you read on the wep site ._to try secretly to destroy cockney latics
as i am old school and been on here far more than many i am disgusted the mods sided with a supporter of another club and especially a egg chasser hang your head in shame so called wigan athletic fans and mods on here a disgrace nothing more to say but total disgust
Im sure more latics fans will leave cl now untill the guy that runs it gets rid of those that have helped kill it
Vital latics thank god would never entertain mutty or the eggsR.I.P. Cl
Very well said Bicky. I never thought I would see the day when a Latics website, especially one with such an egg baiting history would ban a Latics fan in favour of an egg even if the said individual was an annoying fucker.
It stinks, and everyone wonders why everybody has left. This forum may as well rename itselt as the ‘Laticswarrior’ website.
I think it’s nearly time to leave completely and stick to Vital, THE OFFICIAL LATICS FANS FORUM.
Agreed. Time to move over there. Enjoyed it on here generally, but not enough contributors to make it worthwhile anymore.
Banished to the Highlands. Good luck Tim….he’ll need it playing at that dump.
