Encouraged by the new signings but I think a lot of folk are expecting more of the same this season and Cardiff will only being 1,000, so I’m going for … 9,653
Crenshaw
I couldn’t agree more, LHL. My no 1 footballing priority will always be all things Latics. Then, in descending order, I’d say I pay the most interest in:
The kids’ U10 and U12 teams
Fantasy football
Local non-league teams (various)
The FA Cup
England
British teams in the Champions League (not the group stages, though)
The Premier LeagueThe main fault lies with the players for me. We can moan all we want about all three goals – the soft free kick against James, that drop ball, abd the possible foul on Olson – but we simply shouldn’t be conceding in the 47th, 89th and 97th minutes. At those times, if we’re in possession of the ball, we should be moving it into the corners as far as possible from our box. And we certainly shouldn’t be doing what Antonee Robinson did in the 96th minute which was turning it behind for a needless corner. As for the subs, if the players were tired and he wanted to save them for Tue then that’s fair enough. But maybe the replacements were the wrong ones. I’d certainly have used Roberts instead of Naismith.
I can’t see what Evans brings to the party. We need a proper ball-player in midfield. Also, not convinced it’s working playing James and Byrne together, while Windass was a No 9 for Rangers but we never seem to play him there. I’d go for:
J.lones
James Dunkley Kipre Robinson
Gibson Morsy
McManaman Powell Jacobs
Windass
Belting post, Donny, and some interesting opinions. I first read about this passage of play in a great piece on ThreeAmigosLatics but still haven’t watched it. What I would say is that we’ve obviously been hit hard by the injuries to the front four. Will Grigg and Michael Jacobs are hard workers, Powell has the vision and Massey pace to burn. I don’t see many of those qualities among Garner, Windass, Naismith and Connolly. And Windass’s one good game was as a centre forward against West Brom, so why has he been moved back to being a No 10 ever since?
What’s the difference between their situation and those of Darlington and Rangers? Both of those clubs weren’t just docked points; they were relegated right to the bottom of the pile.
I’ll be there. Fortunately the club managed to find me the last four seats in the Silver section where it’s kids for a quid. Without that, it would have been £33 per adult and £18 each for a seven and 11-year-old which is bloomin’ bare-faced robbery.
They had to split up Reece Burke and Reece James for just that reason, or was it Reece Burke and Luke Burke? I’m surprised that Byrne and Burn have been allowed to stay in the same team, too. It’s a commentator’s nightmare, although they are fairly easy to tell apart.
The irony is that we were desperate not to lose him for the international break … then chose to give him total rest. A good bit of management, that, so long as Will stays happy.
This a tricky one. The TV cameras are there again, and the Rochdale gate proved how hard it is to attract the day-trippers who came against City. It’s also £5 dearer, on the same day that many will be running the 10K or being encouraged to cheer some family on.
But set against that doom and gloom, when we knocked top-flight Norwich out in 1987, I remember being surprised that there was a better crowd for Hull in the next round, so Cup runs do tend to build excitement. Also, Southampton travel well, by all accounts, and should fill the away end. Plus, the kids who couldn’t go on a school night against City should make in on a Sunday lunchtime. Also, hopefully the club or police will be less paranoid about the “previous booking history” rule which was actively putting people off last round.
So, hmmmm ….

I agree with Donny, and yon Foxes could learn a little from MMJ’s work rate. Three albums since 2008, while Jim James’s lot have been knocking them out for fun. Not particularly fleet.
Two things the club should have done. First, tell everyone to stay off the pitch. Remember the promotion game to Prem? We stayed off the pitch then because the message was put out loud and clear that there would be no lap of honour if we came on.
Secondly, just in case, get a line of stewards in front of the City stand. I couldn’t believe how long it took for the police and stewards to get over there. Whenever there’s a pitch invasion, there will always be a minority of knobheads running over to the away end to try and get a rise out of them.
.
So East + West + North will add up to about 17000, and it looks like there are 2196 sold in the South Stand, making a total attendance of 19196.
Some top quality crowd noncery there, Horc. But you’re failing to take into account today’s massive numbers at the ticket office. So long as they all have previous booking history – ridiculous – they should nudge it up to, say, 20,500.
