Heard from a Sunderland fan that it’s nailed-on he’s moving there in January. And as for all Bob’s “not for sale” talk: remember Lee Cattermole? Bob’s a great man, but will he stand up to big Dave, the man who brought him into English football, and assents to him employing Graham Barrow as a Premier League coach? I doubt it. Aff mon is spot on.

Got to say that I’m concerned by the fact that a previously watertight defence – exactly the same players – is now shipping goals. Along with Bobby’s weakness for buying Swansea players, refusal to alter his system, and disregard for the fact that we don’t have a right-winger, it suggests to me that the great man’s out of his depth. Hope I’m wong and he turns it around.

Koumas has completely fallen from the manager’s radar. I think that with Thomas out, we’re likely to see Scharner back there with Gomez in the hole.

Personally – as well as Sinclair on the right and Nzogbia on the left – I’d like to see McCarthy given a run out alongside Diame. More likely to be safety first from Bob, though.

Another worry is that two of Brum’s goals came from free kicks. Sjoke will be hassling Boycey and Bramble like mad on the edge of the box, aiming to get set-pieces in dangerous positions.

You’ve forgotten Gomez, another of Whelan’s Championship also-rans. Presume that you’d sell.

And McCarthy. Came highly rated. Maybe one for the future.

And Ben Watson, currently out on loan to QPR.

For once, we’re not massively light on numbers. But quality ….

Langley, Liddell, Lowey, DeZeuw, Warren Aspinall, Peter Atherton, Baines, the Duke … it’s a tough one, this.

I think I’d have to go for Michel Fatini, though (aka Tony Kelly).

To knacker up my week by coinciding with my son’s birthday – again. Let’s see: born November 2006. Can’t go to Spurs cos wife’s still in hospital. Celebrates first birthday in November 2007. Can’t go to Arsenal cos it clashes with his party. Celebrates third birthday in November 2009. Can’t go to Spurs again cos it clashes with his party. Unbelievable. It’s not like there’s that many London games. And before anyone says “take him”, he can;t sit through an entire episode of Roary The Racing Car, never mind 90 minutes’ worth of grim battling against north London’s finest.

Given that Fulham are bad away from home, not as good defensively as last season, and that we’re bound to want to bounce back, I’m rashly predicting 3-0 to the Latics. Scotland answering his critics with a well-taken brace, and Titus chipping in with a header.

Attendance is anyone’s guess. Everyone says that the the 3 for £30 offer has been taken up well, but even if we sold out all three stands, that’s only just over 20,000 taking into account Fulham’s customarily bad following. So I’d be pleasantly surprised by anything above 17,000.

I was pleased to see the Latics adopt this. Bit tiresome that clubs are being bullied into it by the Daily Mail.

Excellent. If only he’d play a left-footer on the left (N’Zogbia) and a right-footer on the right (Sinclair), and two up front, we might win some games.

I’m with The Duke. That’s our best line-up and formation, and just as Bob came round to giving Scotland a run-out at the expense of Gomez, so I think he’ll eventually see the wisdom of playing a left-sided player on the left and Sinclair on the right.

St Mirren’s not a place (unless you count the street name). They play in Paisley, in the same way that Port Vale play in Burslem. What has this got to do with anything again?

He was one that fell into the category of “looked good when we had him on loan then turned pot”.

Surely, though, along with Neill Rimmer, Latics’ indiest-looking player.
