Spot on.He is not being used as he was at Norwich when he hit he the 2nd most goals by an English striker. His injury again is a blow but for me it brings into question the huge input of players under Coyle yet such a chronic shortage of strikers.I lost count how many times on Wednesday when he was expected to win the ball with 3 defenders on him and not another Wigan player within 20 yds.
Granted ref didn’t cover himself in glory but come on that performance was poor.Qpr didn’t look great so I thought they were very beatable but not with our forward play.We have improved at the back and Nicholls handling was excellent,Powell worked hard all night but no goals in last 3 league games is a worry. Apart from rattling the post we created nothing as we didn’t at Charlton or for 65 mins at Blackpool.
I’m happy to get behind Coyle it’s just hard to swallow when we can’t score away from home yet start with a midfielder up top.As for the case that after the substitutions we had time to put it right then I personally see it as 65 mins wasted.I mean coyle did moan enough during september about his injury woes and having no luck with both his strikers available yet doesn’t start with them.
Stuff the sending off cos it will paper over a crap performance. Not 1 effort on target up to the 2 forwards coming on so Coyle must take responsibility .His insistence in play ing Powell as a lone striker is inexplicable when Holt and Fortune sit feeling their nuts on the bench.we looked afar more potent unit when he changed it but by then 60 mins had been wasted.I personally have no great interest in our euro campaign ,this league is what counts to me and so far we have looked mid table at best. Our home form has been ok apart from repeatedly falling behind but away we are woeful.Yes I know we have had injuries to Holt and Fortune but having only 2 forwards and 20 midfielders and defenders is a poor structure.
Great opening post filmoss.Again the striker issue pops up.In a league as tight as this they will be the difference between mid table or top 6 . Blackburn look average but Rhodes will give them an edge so will Nugent at Leicester .How many players did Coyle sign? 12 ? We also did well to hold onto some key players yet we find ourselves playing with no forwards!!Don’t think we will be a relegation candidate but we could be cut adrift of promotion hopefuls if we dont find some consistency soon.
Was hoping for a better start to the season and apart from the opening game and 1st half against Forest wev’e been poor. Can’t see Europe being anything but a hindrance if we are to push for promotion.I’ve thought we are seriously short up top but I don’t think Van Persie would have netted with that kind of non service.Coyle has some serious thinking to do and a foray into the loan pool for a forward should be a priority. Why is the Fa cup man of the match winner on the bench? Is he carrying an injury or does Coyle not fancy him ?
Don’t you just love deadline day ? Wigan owner Dave Whelan described Crystal Palace’s bid for Callum McManaman as ‘insulting’ yesterday – despite having bid £4million for one Wilfried Zaha only last year.
“Well now he’s gone and bid £6million for Jordan Rhodes, yes, that’s the Jordan Rhodes that cost Blackburn Rovers £8.5million and signed a five-year deal last summer.
“Having scored 32 in 54 since, to estimate that the 23-year-old’s value would have declined by £2million Great British pounds might be a tad misguided.” Article courtesy of the daily miror.
56 !! That’s a Gordon Taylor type bet.
Wasn’t at game as away on hols so I’ll read with interest the views on our performance. Was following game last night and can only say how disappointed I was with result. Although I don’t expect a cake walk I did hope to get at least 4 points from these last 2 games so a struggle to scrape even 1 is deflating. Maybe Doncaster and Bournemouth could turn out to be far better teams than I gave them credit for.Always going to be difficult early doors with so many new faces and the uncertainty of who’s leaving still 12 days to go.Chance to bounce back Sunday.
Macmanaman was idiotic….he’ll spend more time suspended than playing if he doesn’t channel his aggression. As for the game less said the better, we were poor even before the sending off.Great opportunity to get back on track next week.
Earn Griffs respect, christ who does this man think he is.Self opinionated i’d guess.I don’t know how i’ll get by without it ?
Good one !.Take note Griff…..a sense of humour.! Try opening your cloth ears and respect other people opinions ,or is your the only one Mr Positive ?
Griff and his usual shotgun posse need to read my post again.I didn’t put down our chances of pushing for promotion or criticize individuals or tactics or use expletives like some posters have to to emphasize their manhood.I stated imo that we didn’t do ourselves justice against a United team who have had an average pre season and in the 90 mins created very little but happy to put this friendly behind us.Every post that Griff reads that is non complimentary must be like sticking your finger in an open wound to him.Disagree with me by all means but try keep you fingers away from nasty words it’s not big and it’s not clever.
Oh I forgot. …bastard !!!
Oh I’m sorry. …..you MUST have a completely different view of the game. Please enlighten one .
