You only have to listen to the reports on our games to prove your bang on Lmb mate, “toothless Wigan”, “Wigan have offered very little” etc after every game. They cant all be wrong but I still think we have just too many foreigners in the squad as well as the gaffers failings. Look at Blackpool no superstars but they have fight and spirit something a lot of overseas players dont afford you and thats a question i would want answering “why do we capitulate so easy”?

We,ll probably get F C United who beat Brighton in the replay we will be in the game for the first half then end up losing 4 or 5 nil

Couldnt agree more matey, I have watched this club since 1969-70 season and was at every home game in the dark days even tho it was a 200 mile round trip from Nuneaton. For me its not us being in the Prem and struggling its the fact that at the highest level of the game there seems to be so much corruption. Look whats going on with the world cup bid. There is no fairness in the game anymore and the smaller clubs dont have an earthly of making up the ground when the media bankroll Utd, Chelsea etc. Can any of you tell me the last game Utd played in the F A cup which wasnt televised? I love football and Wigan Athletic has been my whole life and its killing me to see us fail to win week in week out. The cost of following your club especially away has become too expensive for most people. My last trip to the Emirates with coach fare, ticket price, overnight stay and beer money cost in access of 400 quid ok we went a bit mad on the ale but still its a lot to spend on one away game. I was an England member until they dis-banded the old England members club and came up with “Team England” and now I wont even watch the national side on tele. Its always been fun watching the Latics home and away but now that fun has gone somehow and its as tho its become a chore. Ive not lost my passion for the game yesterday i went to watch Shevvy v Winstanley and it is great to see honest lads playing their hearts out giving everything. I know ill get slated on here for this but i doubt my passion for going to watch the Latics home and away will return until we have been relegated and left the circus thats the Premier League behind.

It may look like Springy but nowhere else on the planet had the magic of dear old Springfield Park. So many memories, triumphs even heartaches yet it had everything and the best supporters club ever. It could be minus 20 or pi$$ing down and it was still the only place to be on matchdays. God i miss the place so much.

My worry is that with Chelsea faltering Utd will have the smell of blood in their nostrils and we could be in for a tough afternoon.

in reply to: Another pointless game #51157

its one of fifa.s free windows, and there are friendlies all around the globe totally agree its pointless but as much as i dislike the fa this aint their doing. tho why we should risk injuries to players for nothing games is lunacy.

in reply to: Big thanks to the steward in the east…. #51017

A steward at Brentford once put himself out for me and unlocked a gate so I could get myself a Brentford enamel badge. He walked me to the club shop waited outside while I bought my memento then kindly escorted me back through the home crowd and back into the away end again. True gent

I had a chilli dog at Manchester Victoria on the way to the match on Wednesday. Probably not quite like the real thing, though

proper chilli dawgs are awesome, some just cover a frankfurter with chilli sauce and sell them as the real mc,coy

Soccer !!!!!!!! aint we Americanised enough already? We will be having time outs next turning on the faucetts to have a bath and sending the kids up to the park to play on the teeter totter. We could change our name to WASC stop selling pies and have chilli dogs instead or we could leave well alone and call the game FOOTBALL

in reply to: Knocks and Bruises, the Story of a Lower League Fan #50246

Things aint good at the minute and oppinions are varied and emotions are very high but we all still sing from the same hymn sheet. As a Wigan Athletic fan you are unique the rarest of rare breeds because no other football fan has made the same journey as we have.We lie smack bang in the middle of the hottest of footballing hotbeds and thousands of true Wigganers support one of the big four i.e City, Utd Everton or Liverpool yet we have still managed to drag a small club up thru the pyramid system into probably the best league in world football. We will naturally have varied views as many of our younger fans were not around for our non league days and even when it looked like we would fold in the early days of the Nineties. W A F C would need to stay in the prem for over a generation to get itself a proper fanbase and that just aint gonna happen. We suffer constant riddicule from the media coz of our lack of numbers and we have also had quite a few real embarrassing moments lately and yes i truly think we will go down this season. Having said all this i wouldnt mind if we made the journey back down the other way coz its still gonna be part of us part of the Wigan Athletic story which is still being written as we speak. I hate what is happening to my club at the minute coz we all know it really hurts when we fail to win but i will always be proud of what little Wigan Ath has achieved while ive been a fan of over 40 yrs. Latics were my life as a non league club then later coming up the leagues and if we have to go back to where we came from then bring it on.

in reply to: Time for a change? #50221

Time for change eh? yes mate, you can see it I can see it and every other Latics fan can see it but Martinez is picking the team and tactics so thats that idea out the window. Same old same old methinks :(

in reply to: makin’s farwell #50076

LMB mate, dont stop believing your oppinion, just because you are not being brainwashed like some on here into thinking that Martinez can manage. No other manager at any club anywhere else in the world would still be in a job after some of the disasters he has steered us through and as for slagging Makin off anybody who says they were not embarrassed by the 9-1 at Spurs or the Notts Co debacle are talking rot.
