Lacking in experience is known by us all, but that can be put to one side. Just focusing on his managerial ability, has he improved Wigan Athletic since last season? The answer to that is a resounding no, but are you impressed by him? Does his comments of bringing Kapo and King into the team build your confidence? Are you satisfied that he says he is happy with our current squad? Can he achieve the absolute minimum with us this year, just keep us up? The guy doesnt fill me with confidence and rather than looking to Martinez for inspiration, I look to Burnley, Hull, Wolves, Noblot, Birmingham, Stoke and Portsmouth. Thankfully, those teams will decide if we stay up so were not totally relying on Martinez.
Like every year in the prem, if u take the first one out,
BBC: “Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is set to give midfielder Olivier Kapo a second chance to kick start his career at Wigan after he was seemingly on his way out of the club under former manager Steve Bruce.”:o
Says a lot for his own midfield buys,
I thought Kirkland was good today apart from the backpasses and I wish he would command his box like he did taking that cross at the end. Gomez for me looks off the pace and I would have taken him off before koumas. Diame showed his quality today, good ball winner and has power to hold onto the ball. N’zogbia for m was also good, beat players but also did his work defensively. All in all a step in the right direction but still could improve, I would like to see us move the ball abit quicker and hopefully no more of the back passes.I agree with evrything u say
Kirky was a bit shite on crosses but a few of his saves today was world class, It might be just me but this Gomez is way off being a prem player. but a good, needed win today, diame played very well.
Think we’ll win the Spammers today, hopefully win 2-0.bring it on!
Up the ‘Tics 8-)
I think we will win, but fear the worse if go 1nil down, think some of the fans will get on the teams back, im going for 2-1 after being a goal down,
Attendances don’t concern me, I’m on about actual support from the fans at the stadium. Wimbledon fans made some noise and I remember playing Tranmere, Crewe, Nob End, Blackpool etc, we made a racket. But recently, the excitment, atmosphere, expectation etc has gone and we are quite frankly sad as muck. I’ve never been to a Premiership ground where the fans are as bad as us, just one question and this will answer wether we are indeed the worst set of fans to grace Englands top flight:
When was the last time you heard chanting of ‘Wigan, Wigan…’ or the chanting of ‘We Love You Wigan?’ If it was in the last 12 months, were not the worst. Awaiting responses.Well just sing then and sing till someone else follows suit,
8 September 2009 at 9:14 pm in reply to: It looks like both clubs are struggling to get bums on seats #8341Looking at the South, West and pittiful North Stand following I didn’t think there were that many on. Why teams would lie about an attendance and pay more tax though I have no idea.To beat the salary cap
I don’t really know on what you are basing your opinion. Jeff Wright was a very good footballer, probably one of the best passers, of his time, ever to play for Wigan Athletic. The fact that he wasn’t considered aggressive enough and didn’t get “stuck in” clouded many people’s judgement of him. I think if he was playing in today’s game with its less physical demands people would view him differently.
Agreed. Wright seems to get the same treatment that Michael O’Neill always got. And it looks as if Jordi Gomez is already going the same way.[/quote]
Oneil was shite so cant see your pointChrist on a Bike, you cannot do that….Rule No 1. Always always bring Rugby up when talking about WAFC Attendances.
Rule No 2. Go back to rule No 1 and try again.
What we really should do , is compare how old each club is, surely the younger club which used to have an average of 1200 should have the lowest crowds,

Erasure 92 at the apollo
have to say it for all the good whelan as done in the past ,its time for him to step to one side ,but the question then is who would be willing to buy the club least supported in the prem ,we really need somone with billions not just millions ,who can at least attempt top bring in real quality and then hope the wigan public would come to watch them.I bet whelan is in talks with potential buyers now,
I also feel people have lost heart in football, The wages the players get just for being average is madness.
I TOTALLY AGREE WE ARE CLUB WITH NO AMBITION, WHO ARE SIGNING CHAMPIONSHIP QUALITY PLAYERS.Why could you see our current team beating Newcastle.
This could be whelan saying to martinez, im not trusting you with anymore money, and if he does decide to let him go, a new manager will have money to spend, Lets face it i cant see whelan losing out on 40 mill next season if he can help it, no matter what he has said about not sacking martinez, He will sack him if the season continues to be a shambles, ill give him another 10 games, but being realistic the west ham game is massive, just my opinion,
