You’re talking Łódź of bollocks.
It’s definitely a catch 22.
I’d rather win at Bournemouth away and Doncaster at home, than lose to United and Liverpool.
If we take nothing else out of the game, I’ll take these two positives:-
1, James McLean’s debut performance was very promising.
2, Grant Holt going toe-to-toe with Vidic.
I thought Perch and Bennett looked good at the back, for me the problem is in the midfield. IF we get £10m for McCarthey then let him go. Watson could misplace a pass from anywhere on that field.
I’d snap somebody’s hands off if they offered £10m for McCarthy. I haven’t been impressed with him for a long time. He just doesn’t create anything, he has no positive thinking in him. He focuses far too much of retaining possession than actually doing something with the ball.
Ever since he had the injury 2 or 3 years back he has looked poor for me. I rate McArthur much higher.
If we sold him I would personally change the front 6 to:
Holt
McClean-Maloney-McManaman
Watson-McArthur
I think that would be a more potent line up than what we currently employ. I think Gomez could also flourish in that role instead of Maloney.
I thought we played well in spells. We didn’t create anything but neither did United. Carson didn’t have much to do except pick the ball out twice.
I think it was clear that the players could have done with out the game. Get the defeat out of our minds quickly and move on to Bournemouth.
I would strongly disagree that they add to the excitement. In Rugby League it seems about half of the tries go to the video ref. Kinda makes cheering a try pretty pointless as you have to wait for a video board to confirm it.
What’s more exciting? Seeing the ball hitting the back of the net and going mad celebrating or mildly cheering before turning to a scoreboard for 2 minutes?
I recall thinking he was a tad overrated at Sunderland, but I think he’d do well for us in the Championship.
I certainly felt like we could do with another winger, with just Jean and Gomez for cover. Just another striker or two and I feel pretty good about the squad.
Can’t complain about that. Bossed the game completely, the middle 3 ran the show.
Barnett was a rock, very impressed with him considering he only signed 2 days before the game. Perfect way to start the season.
When I ordered over the phone they said they wouldn’t replace tickets. So I said I’d pick them up at Dundee.
I really don’t understand the mentality of the stadium owner. Sure they want to get as fair a price as possible, but surely having an empty stadium is worse than getting a small fee from the club?
A jovial atmosphere as always on CL.
East dene working mans club, 5 minute walk from the stadium, £1.50 to park and cheap drinks. Might be a good place to park. S70 1UD.
The Great Wall Of China cannot be seen from outer space, it is a fallacy !
All depends on your definition of space…
The only made made thing you can see from space is pollution !
Pretty sure you can see cities too ;)
What is OK sauce ? I always imagined it to be like an oyster sauce ?Its not great but its not bad either.
Good news. He looked accomplished Dundee Utd, and McCann really does look like a Midfielder being played out of position.
”Back of the Net is a surprisingly funny football blog”Hmm. Not in my eyes.
Perhaps one of the least funny things i’ve read in a long time.
